  1. I'm sorry, i'm still very new to modding windows installs and the like, anyone mind telling me why win 2000 is better for x86 processors, and where I can get this x86-x64 patch to use when GE comes out? (using an intel Centrino 760, got it for christmas, right before the Dual Cores came out ) --Sofer There is no "x86-x64" patch, if you want to run in x64 you need to not only have a 64-bit processor, but a 64-bit OS, which essentially needs to be built from the ground up... There will never be a patch...
  2. If you look at the BIOSTAR board problem thread I removed the 'viaSraid.*' entries from the slipstreaming scripts, so that those drivers were not integrated into the setup, fixed my problem. Try it and see what happens....
  3. A and B were designed as more "Used more frequently" "Not used so frequently" When people make these things they don't always need legacy drivers, so pack A is the drivers for sound devices more domenant manufacturers, while B is for less domenant manufacturers... Hence why graphic pack A is pretty much ATi/ nVidia/ and B is everyone else....
  4. I created an XP CD which I use specifically for these boards in which I integrated ONOLY the drivers as a work around until I could get around to looking into the issue... Now that I've FINALLY got some free time I'm comparing the setup of my CD against Bashrat's driver pack, and I noticed that in the via drivers directory, under '1' there is a 'viamraid.inf' and a 'viasraid.inf' files... The M is dated newer than the S, and the M has two HWIDs more than the S, despite the two of them having the same HWID in both, the S only has the one HWID... Suppose it's a conflict? I'm gonna get rid of them and reburn the DVD in a moment here when I'm done taking a look.... Comparing the two txtsetup.sif's I see that my creation has just the one viamraid.sys being recognized, while the Bashratified one has viapdsk.sys, viasraid.sys and viamraid.sys.... I'm assuming... Edit 1: Would it be possible for someone to write a .bat file which would undo the viasraid.* references throughout the CD? Just so I can check see if maybe that''s where the conflict is coming in...? In an attempt to test my theory on the drivers I've opened up the .cmd's which integrate the drivers and removed al references to viasraid.*, and re-slipstreamed the drivers... Corss your fingers... Edit 2: Telling the .CMDs to not make the 'viasraid.*' entries solved the issue... However, while removing the entries I noticed that there were remarks indicating that the viasraid.* entries were primarily work arounds for other motherboard models... I'm now wondering if perhaps we're looking at an annoying problem...? Unfortunatly I just disconnected the drive I use work on the AIO-DVD, but if someone could tell me some of the motherboard models that the file is used as a work around for, I could possible tell you whether it is still needed.... I may or may not have that board in stock here at the store.... Edit 3: Upong further inspection I see that the Asus K8V SE was listed as one of the reasons the 'VIASRAID.*' entries were listed in your slipstreaming, we had one of those boards in stock, and after testing it I can confirm that Windows XP Home Edition (What I tested it with) works without the 'viasraid.*' files being slipstreamed... I believe in the next release you should probably remove those files from the pack as they may no longer be necesary.... I cannot confirm the other boards, but I can confirm that the Biostar M7VIZ, K8M800, and the Aus K8V SE work properly WITHOUT those files.... So yeah.... Go Bashrat!
  5. You should change the Intel Inside picture you posted, that's no longer their slogan... Now it's Leap Ahead...
  6. Was wondering if someone with good photoshop skills could take the "Bliss" background that's XP's default and convert it into a desert scene with a pyramid in the distance in the back... I'd do it myself, except that my skills are atrocious...
  7. I installed XPize on top of IE7 Beta 2 Public, seems to work just fine... I had to uninstall mstsc.exe and msdtc.exe for remote desktop purposes though....
  8. mstsc.exe AND msdtc.exe We're back in action now.... Thanks.... What did you change to em'?
  9. First letter of your last name, essentially you need to wait until your letter shows up before you can download it, this way your last name will be part of the driver pack... So feel bad for those Zulu's...
  10. To solve an XPize issue I'm having I'd like to install everything but XPize, have WPI reboot the system after a minute, and then finish the install when it comes back again... How would I go about telling WPI to do this?
  11. I found my printer drivers at www.planetamd64.com almost ALL drivers I've had a tough time finding I found there... I will admit driver support is a b***h, but overall I haven't been disappointed with this... I don't need to worry that much over things, as described above I found a work around to my problem, and there's almost always a work around... My printer is an HP 2510, and I'm using it properly with the drivers found on that site over the network... Prints, scans and even lets me properly use the memory card reader on it, hell I transfered an MP3 to the memory card reader, stuck that SD card in my iPaq and bluetoothed it over to my cell phone, and now I have an orchestral mario brother ringtone... http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?dlcategory=4 Beside the oddball piece of software, I've been 100% satisfied with XP x64 Edition...
  12. You need Pro for Multi-processor support but even Home will support Multi-core processors. See, this statement is confusing.... If someone is using XP Home Edition, will both cores EVER be used, or becaus Home Edition is incapable of using both cores, all other programs wont either because Home wont communicate with that other core...? I want this to be a definitive yes or in with maximum clarity so that I can tell customers the exact reason they need to buy Professiona or Media Center Edition...
  13. So, this means that XP Home definatly does NOT use both cores of a dual core processor right?
  14. My understanding of Windows XP and dual multiple processors is that using something like a dual core processor on XP Home Edition is pointless since Home Edition is not a multi threaded application, while professional edition is, so when getting something dual core, it's generally a good idea to get professional so that you can get the full umph out of it.... So, to use both cores on a dual core chip, DO you NEED XP Professional, or not? I know XP Home Edition will SEE both cores, or more than one processor, but I don't know if it actually uses both of them..... Title Edited - Please follow new posting rules from now on. --Zxian
  15. There is one thing that just suddenly occured to me... I was having a problem where installing with the XP style startbar (With the list of recently run programs) was not working right, none of the programs appeared, so I told nLite to make it "Classic" startbar, which puts the My Computer icons and such straight to the desktop.... Could something be causing the royale theme to be changed at the end of the install? I've just installed it with ONLY XPize, and it still didn't install the startbar....
  16. This is the config.js from WPI 4.3.8 that I use.... My XP CD uses RyanVM's 2.0.2a, and slimmed down a bit using nLite RC6, XPize 4.2.... config.js
  17. I was being genuine actually... I'm sorry.... Didn't think I was coming off negatively... I honestly meant it as "Thank you for caring about us" as in, "Thank you for actually putting in time and effort in trying to help us as individuals..." I'm not running these on XP x64 edition, I don't want to take chances screwing it up... Again, I apologize for sounding sracastic, I honestly meant it, I REALLY do appreciate the fact that you're helping us firgure these things out.... I mean, why would I insult someone who's help I want to continue getitng?
  18. Neither is the case... It just doesn't do it... I can't explain it really.... Everything goes in the way it should, but the Royale doesn't get put in.... I'll run a few scenarios when I get back into work see what I can come up with.... It's never fun when you create something, put so much time and effort into something, only to discover that you forgot a comma, or a slash... Or anything.... Debugging is no fun... As a bonus though I do get to talk one on one with the developer to try and get ideas where to look... Better to talk to that guy then the guy they pay to talk to you about something they know nothing about... Thanks for caring about us....
  19. Yeah, the Royale starbar isn't there..... .NET Framework 2.0 is the first thing that's installed, and XPize is the last thing, and in every scenario of everything installed in sequence and then a single reboot, that startbar doesn't get updated... Should I configure my DVD to isntall .NET Framwork 2.0, reboot, then finish the installs?
  20. So, I've got this Unattended CD that installs .NET Framework 2.0, Java Runtime, Power DVD 5, Google Desktop Search, Google Earth, Google Toolbar, Firefox, Thunderbird, Adobe Reader 7, Ad-Aware SE 1.6, Open Office 2.0, Quicktime, Nero 6.6, Picasa 2, AVG 7, MS Antispyware, and then XPize... In that order... Now, .NET Framework 1.1 is installed during the SVCPack.inf portion of the setup... Upon the completion of all of the above software's installing the system waits 2 minutes and then reboots, when the reboot is done the system appears to be fully XPized, except that the startbar hasn't been updated.... Should I have the system reboot to let .NET Framework 2.0 take hold, or is my order alright?
  21. I won allow you to create Ghost 9 (.V2I) files, only restore from them... Unless I'm missing something.... It DOES have Ghost 8, but I specfically want the .V2I, primarily because I can just mount it as another drive and treat it as such until done...
  22. I know all the drivers are there, and I know there's the one that's used in conjunction with BartPE to make the UBCD, but I'm farting around with WinPE right now, trying to create a true Windows PE environment so that I can try various things from another angle... What would be the easiest way to make a Bashratified Windows PE CD...?
  23. I've never actually made a PE myself, I've used ERD Commander 2005, a PE from a collegue of mine, UBCD4Win, and Symantec's recovery disk, but those were either already built, or had a simple way of being built... What I want to do is make a Windows PE CD which includes Ghost 9 on it, primarily so that I can make .v2i images of drives for backups from a PE environment... Idealisticly I'd like to 'staple' it into another PE environment, but I have a feeling that'd be more complicated than I'd like.... So, is there a helpful place on this?
  24. I've been having problems with some computers lately that basically make the machine start the screensaver after one minute, even if you turn off the screensaver, or change the start time, it always goes back to one minute.... How does one fix this? I can't find the answer on Google
