  1. Have you setup your volume pools & policies? Be sure you have a volume pool with specific area to backup. I have about the same setup as you accept on a larger scale. We backup 32 servers in a library mush like yours. We have volume pools setup linked to policies which tell the backup system what servers, what drives to backup and where to put them in the media. What size tapes are you using? Generally we have 1 tape per pool or policy as it is a lot of data.

  2. under nero you have to choose the burn image option not the data disk option. Ive mesed that up a couple times and had to throw out a couple disks.

Same here, wasted many disks... by selecting to burn the ISO to the disk, you are doing just that, basically copying the file to the disk. You you need to actually burn the image itself to the disk, which extracts the files within the ISO to the disk. As LLXX has said you could use WinISO or IsoBuster to verify the integrity of the file. In Nero select burn image, or you can use Nero Express > go to Image, Project, Copy > selct Disk Image or Saved Project. Then just select your ISO and burn!

  3. Just a follow up, the card is great! It runs pretty much anything I can throw at it. Of corse, some games play better then others. I'm guessing games built on OpenGL run at a less framerate than Direct X games, but hey... the card still rocks and I'm glad I bought it. I use it in conjunction with ATI Tools to control the fan speed based on temperature due the fan only running at the default 22%. All in all, I'm quite happy! ;)

  4. I'm new to the high end graphics scene and am curious how to seamlessly upgrade to the latest catalyst drivers. I have a Radeon x1800xt, currently have catalyst 6.6 installed with the control center. Is the proper way to completely remove everything with an ATI signature from add/remove programs, including the control center and then reboot and use the default driver then install the new version? I know this is quite a newb question, but I just want to get it right the first time and not have any driver nightmares. TIA.

  5. Going to need a lot more information to help you on this one. For instance.. what VPN client? And I'm assuming from your post this is a client to network VPN?

I am using the default PPTP Windows VPN Connection (had issues with Cisco)... and yes it's into a network wide VPN concentrator. Everything works fine as far as the VPN functionality, I just want to be able to surf and all other things using my default connection.. and have the VPN connection be just that, another connection that I'm only going to be using for VPN into my network.

  6. Believe it or not I haven't regularly vpn'd until here recently. I've researched this a little bit, but really haven't found what I am looking for. I have a LAN connection obviously, that I'm using to connect to the VPN. I would like to be able to use my normal LAN connection for all Internet usage while being able to use the VPN for only remoting into machines across the network. There is a proxy on the VPN.... once I connect I lose all connectivity on everything LAN based. TIA.

  7. I would set a password on the account first of all. I wouldn't recommend having any account on any machine non pw protected, especially one with admin rights. Then allow that user whatever permission you'd like on the share, most likely full control, then connect with user name and pw. Since you're being propted for logon info, you know the connection to the box is there. It seems to me it's just an access/rights issue. You could also try just mapping a drive to the share. \\IP or hostname\share name. Put a $ at the end of the share name to make it hidden.

  8. Hey there, I'm interested in finding software which can connect to a domain controller(s) within a WAN and be able to export user/group/shares/permission data into preferably excel or access. I'm hoping there may be some great freeware app out there that I just haven't found. I have used dumpacl, which directed me to DumpSec & Hyena, however these are shareware apps. Any suggestions would be welcome. TIA :thumbup

*Edit: It made since to post this in the networking the section to me, however if it should be in software plz move.. sry. ;)

  9. Hey Guys... I work in a 2000/2003 networked environment with 30+ servers. Lately we've been having some issues with multiple PowerEdge series servers and their specific functions. I have found that the enabled NIC on every server has the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" within the Power Management tab checked. Why in the world would this be checked on a server??? I understand that it could be default from the driver, but this just seems insane. Curious if you guys think this could be the solution to some of my problems. Although it seems unlikely the server would ever not be busy enough that windows would shut down the power to the device, I suppose it is likely.
