  1. i don't know much about computers, but from what i do know, i don't think you can resize partitions unless you totally reformat the hard drive.
  2. if someone could kindly point me in the direction of where i can get a Windows 2000 boot disk, i would have many thanks
  3. i don't have windows xp. the hard drive that i'm using is windows 98, and the hard drive with the messed up windows partition is windows 2000.
  4. hmm, well i'm using a completely different hard drive right now, with the one with the messed up partition as the slave. but i'll try what you said with this hard drive disconnected.
  5. oops...double post. and i forgot to say that i don't have XP. the hard drive with the..."non existant" windows partition has 2000 on it. this hard drive has 98 SE
  6. there is no error message at all. it just sits there and does absolutely nothing after it checks the cd drives for boot cds.
  7. my computer stopped booting from my hard drive, so i had to make my secondary one my master. and when i go to "My Computer" it doesn't see my windows partition on the other hard drive. i downloaded a few utilities that supposedly recovers lost partitions, but they already see the partition. i boot from the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools and that also shows that the partition is there...is there a way i can get the partition back?

  9. hmm, i have that same version...
  10. how do i find the version?
  11. i have a few programs that..i guess need this file. (two are Free Download Manager, and Winamp 5) i found the dll, and put it in my windows directory. Free Download Manager now works, but winamp still doesn't, but it doesn't give me the missing dll error. it just freezes, but the task manager doesn't say it's not responding...is there anything that should be fixed that i don't know about in Windows 2000 SP4?
  12. i've had this problem before, and it always happens when i install windows 98 (SE) out of the box. i can't do lots of things because of it. i can't play videos, and even worse, i can't get to Windows Update. i know there's a thing for non-IE browsers, although it has the things i need, there are little things i want from the original one. (and i want to watch videos...) i can't seem to get rid of this problem this time....i have DirectX 9.0c (just installed, i had 9.0b about 10 minutes ago)
  13. well it works with firefox, because i just did it on firefox
  14. is it a bad thing if win386.swp doesn't get backed up?
