that looks pretty cool and gives your XP-system a very individual touch... how many replies do you request?
-
try: why are you using quotation marks?
-
maybe you just used parameters that were only for Qxxxxxx patches (/q:a /r:n)? mine works fine with these parameters:

this one's not new since the files the patch contains are from 2002 Q811630 contains the same files, but with a newer revision number... see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811630 DL@ http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en -
skips the Internet Connection Wizard the first time you start IE6

wouldn't it be enought just to delete the main key, e.g. and leave the subkeys alone?

i've asked the irfanview author about that feature, but it's not implemented in 3.85 yet. however it is planned. since irfanview doesn't require an installation, you can also simply xcopy the files to HD...

Hotfixes For Windows XP Professional SP1

you don't need Q329170 when you install Q817606 (both update the srv.sys, but Q817606 is newer) you don't need Q810577 when you install Q816073 (not listed here) you may also want to add Q818857 (IE 6 Patch) - Slow Performance When You Use Internet Explorer 6 SP1 to View MIME Type File Attachments see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=818857 download http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/4...705/q818857.exe (english only) -

Do you know the thread link to where this is explained in full detail? Is this a tedious task to do, or is webmedic's solution better? I'm afraid I test anything to do with Nvidia, as I don't own one of their graphics cards. to the "svcpack-installation"-method: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;814847 it's bit more work than just installing the patches 1 by 1, but worth the effort! works great for me! to "nvidia"-graphic driver: - just unpack the nvidiadrivers.exe to install\drivers\nvidia - add "OemPnPDriversPath=install\Drivers\nvidia" to winnt.sif - edit DOSNET.INF, DRVINDEX.INF & TXTSETUP.SIF by DELETING following entries, so winxp-setup is forced to use the files located in "install\drivers\nvidia" works 100% with the new WHQL'ed 45.23 drivers
-
1. the installation method with the "\I386\svcpack"... copying Q-patches and the appropriate .cat files in it and overwriting the files in \I386 (i.e. deleting the file.dl_) => much faster installation of the hotfixes 2. adding xp-antispy (+silent switches) to the .cmd file 3. adding nvidia drivers to the /drivers-folder & editing txtsetup.sif, dosnet.inf and drvindex.inf

Here is the list of the 22 package names: it seems M$ does not make much efforts in releasing this package... just take the patch 824146 replaces the patch 823980, since it contains the same files, but with a higher version-number
-
by putting all needed drivers in \drivers\via for example, winXP just updates the APG-driver and leaves the ide driver alone, i.e. keeps the driver that comes with SP1... anyone got a solution here (i checked the RAID-thread) but this won't help me here i guess )

New Fix: Q824146, replacing Q823980
creopard replied to Mike500's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
after slipstreaming it, it seems you need to apply the autologon stuff... [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "AutoAdminLogon"="1" "DefaultUserName"="Administrator" "DefaultPassword"="" "ForceAutoLogon"="1" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "NoAutoReturnToWelcome"="1" -
keys like are system specific and just work for this one system, since every key differs...

nice collection, but what exactly is good for ?

some tweaks that were not mentioned right now (except i've overseen them): ;recycle bin uses 3% of available space (not 10%) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BitBucket] "Percent"=dword:00000003 ;mount net-drives first, when they are needed [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider] "RestoreConnection"=dword:00000000 ;enlarge DNS-cache [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters] "CacheHashTableBucketSize"=dword:00000001 "CacheHashTableSize"=dword:00000180 "MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000fa00 "MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit"=dword:0000012d ;Disable thumbnail caching. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "DisableThumbnailCache"=dword:00000001 ;disable the "search-dog" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState] "Use Search Asst"="no" ;keep ras connection when switching users (sp your modem won't hang up) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\WinLogon] "KeepRasConnections"="1" ;delete alexa (spy-reg)-keys [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a}] ;read avi-files more quickly [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}] ;delete "shared documents" [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}] ;Speeding up browsing of Microsoft networks [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace\{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}] ;Removes Language Bar [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}] @="Language bar" "MenuTextPUI"="@%SystemRoot%\System32\msutb.dll,-325"

good if it works for you that way, it didn't work for me i had to do all that (TXTSETUP.SIF, DOSNET.INF, DRVINDEX.INF), otherwise the xp default drivers will be installed... (btw. drivers used were 45.23 not 44.03)
-
method 2 works great, but is not quite welcome, if you use your unattended CD to install on a system, where there's no NVIDIA card present... method 1 won't work, UNLESS.... you modify 3 files in the i386 folder (TXTSETUP.SIF, DOSNET.INF, DRVINDEX.INF) open the files and search for nv4 and delete the following entries (if present) DOSNET.INF d1,nv4.dll d1,nv4.inf d1,nv4.sys DRVINDEX.INF d1,nv4_disp.dll d1,nv4_disp.inf d1,nv4_mini.sys TXTSETUP.SIF nv4.dll = 1,,,,,,,,3,3 nv4.inf = 1,,,,,,,20,0,0 nv4.sys = 1,,,,,,,,3,3 windows setup will then look in the path specified with "OemPnPDriversPath" for the appropriate drivers
