  1. Lexmark Z600 series...anyone? :-) I need a driver mod guru. I installed the Z52 drivers just to see if they would work, and it syas it prints but nothing is sent to my printer. I figure that becasue of this, it is a simple fix. Any ideas?
  2. A google search doesn't turn up alot, just fixes from older versions. Has anyone else had a problem with skipping or stuttering audio in the new iTunes (PC)? Seems to happen when another sound plays especially. Tried using the waveOut setting in Quicktime, tried turning off hardware accelleration, etc... no go. I really like this version though. Any one can help?
  3. Okay, so, I left my computer on by accident with iTunes open, and the power went out. When I turned on the computer again, and opened iTunes, it kept telling me alot of the songs I tried to play were corrupted and unreadable. So, I ran chkdsk and it said it repaired errors on the drive, and after that, Windows would not boot. (Hangs at acpitabl.dat). I don't even really care about this, as I just reinstalled Windows. But, I reinstalled iTunes and copied my library over, now the music I know was 'corrupted' will not play at all. I tried coping to different locations on the drive, still no luck. I have a very large music collection, I have since abandoned CDs, so I can't get alot of this back, I can't even begin to find what is actually corrupted. Every time I run CHKDSK in the Recovery Console, it says "CHKDSK is performing additional scanning or recovery..." three times and then says that it didnt repair anything, just a normal check. Is there some other program I can use to check the disk more througly? Also, I have no floppy drive, but I can hook an extra one up if need be. I will pay anyone who can get my files back! $10 to your Paypal! There's no telling what else may be corrupted. Thank you so much! --Chris
  4. Okay, so, I realize that I am on a dialup connection, but most of the time ti seems like I'm using a 14.4 when I'm connedted at around 48kbps. I realize it's not going to be the fastest in the world, but waiting close to two minutes for one page to load is insane. So, I used netstat -a to look at what is open, and I have no idea what I'm looking at. Can someone help me out a bit? Like, what are these connections for, and how can I be RID of them?! lol Active Connections Proto Local Address Foreign Address State TCP chris-ugddap5wy:epmap chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:microsoft-ds chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1027 chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:ms-wbt-server chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:3689 chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1285 a204-2-224-28.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com:http CLOSE_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1286 a204-2-224-28.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com:http CLOSE_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1906 66.102.15.100:http TIME_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1909 66.102.15.100:http TIME_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:4803 baym-cs330.msgr.hotmail.com:msnp ESTABLISHED TCP chris-ugddap5wy:4821 a204-2-224-51.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com:http CLOSE_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:4822 a204-2-224-51.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com:http CLOSE_WAIT TCP chris-ugddap5wy:1025 chris-ugddap5wy:0 LISTENING TCP chris-ugddap5wy:4808 chris-ugddap5wy:4809 ESTABLISHED TCP chris-ugddap5wy:4809 chris-ugddap5wy:4808 ESTABLISHED UDP chris-ugddap5wy:microsoft-ds *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:isakmp *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1046 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1047 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1291 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1292 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1294 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1295 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1517 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1518 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:2000 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:ipsec-msft *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:discard *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:ntp *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:ssdp *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:13883 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:22067 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:ntp *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1031 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:1045 *:* UDP chris-ugddap5wy:ssdp *:*
  5. I popped in an old LG Cd Burner to burn a quick audio CD before I went to work, and lo and behold, I can't burn CDs in iTunes! Went searching all over and found that the iTunes burning software isn't x64 compatible, so I searched a little more and found that if you install the latest GEAR Driver (the driver iTunes uses to burn CDs), it works like a charm. Keep in mind this driver is in BETA. Click here to go to the GEAR drivers page. Enjoy. And I don't care if there are better burning programs, iTunes has all my music right there for me, so it's the easiest.
  6. Superlevel ---> colemancb Thanks alot!
  7. With the hardware issue, just use Google to see if 64bit drivers are available. You said you ran a webserver...now is this a large-scale server? If so, the 64bit Windows may do good, because it is able to process large amounts of data much faster than 32bit Windows is.
  8. Wow...so, Link21 hates Windows 98 and ME. Lots of people love it. Why the huge argument and the flaming? I didn't realize it mattered that much. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. And so on and so fourth.
  9. This Torpark sounds like it's alot better than what I had before. I'm going to wait unti I'm on a highspeed to download it (wednesday), so I'll check it out then. Thanks for the help!!
  10. It wasn't Tor, or Proxifier. This one just worked right out of the box, Tor most definatley wasn't it, and Proxifier is different, although I thought it was the right one at first.
  11. Hey all, I remember back at the end of the year, I had a software that would automattically find a proxy server and connect to it, and tunnel all my web traffic through it all automattically. It would popup and tell me what server I was using and even what country it was in. I do not have this program anymore, and I don't want to comb through lists of servers and all that. Does anyone know what program this was? Surely someone knows what I'm talking about. Thanks for the help.
  12. Ramesh, it would help you get an answer faster if you started your own topic. Now, I have another question. I loaded hwmonitor and it puts my GPU in the yellow at 47*, is this very high? it's not overclocked at all and that's just running normal windows.
  13. I'm not saying it's a really good thing, but it may get rid of a lot of bi-curious Linux/Windows dualbooters. Windows isn't about customization, it's about simplicity and ease of use. It's about not having to modify the core to get everything you want out of it. Linux is the exact opposite. In general, the people that use Windows for what Windows can do shouldn't really care either way, but the people that feel the need to m0d their Wind0ez as much as they possibly can should break out the Linux books.
  14. I would use Abyss Web Server X1. It's free and leaves a very small footprint on your machine, so you can continue to use as normal. You can download it here. I'm going to assume that you can figure out how to set it up. Here is the Users Guide if you get stuck. That will explain how to set up the server and your paths, and how to password-protect them. If you need more help, let me know.
  15. Hey all. I just had a quick question. I have an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8ghz stock. My motherboard (Biostar tForce 6100) comes with auto overclocking options with three choices, the third being the highest performance increase. I selected it just to see how much faster it would be, and things are flying. I went from a 1.8ghz to a 2.25ghz. Now, using the stock cooler and fan, I'm maintaining a stable 39-40* temp. Is this safe to run with? Playing MOHPA may bump it up to a steady 40. I'm just not sure what is safe, so I have it stock again for the moment. Thanks. Edit -- Also, what is a good software to monitor my temperature? The only way I can do it now is through my BIOS and the software they provided does not work under x64.
  16. I don't know about accessing iTunes, but if you just set up an FTP or HTTP server and password-protect it, you can get to that from anywhere. I know if you are running Windows XP Pro you can use 'Remote Desktop' but that will take alot of bandwidth trying to stream music from it.
  17. Hey all, I just purchased parts for a new PC, including the following: Biostar Socket AM2 mobo here and an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket AM2 processor. here Now, I went ahead and ordered Windows XP Professional x64 Edition...was this a mistake? I don't want to have to fight to play the occasional game (I ordered Medal of Honor: Pacific Assult so far), and /I may be gaming a lot over the summer. I'm worried that x64 will give me trouble, but I was under the impression that it wouldn't be as fast as it should with my hardware if I didn't get x64 windows...was I wrong? Thanks for the help!
  18. Thanks alot for the input, all. Actually, no matter what configuration I tried, Iwould always surpass my $$ limit on Newegg, so I went over to TigerDirect and found some good deals. I have the cart saved at school, I'll post it up here tomorrow and see what you all think. THANKS!
  19. Yeah, I forgot that... And to mention that this is already over $700. Is there ANY way I can save some money? I mean... is my assumption wrong in saying that I NEED 1GB of ram? Or even that I NEED a 64bit proc to be on the high-end in photo and video editing? Are 64bits even stable for 32bit apps? It would be great if you could point me in the direction of some sort of a guide for this... I hate to ask for all this help. noguru: The USB card was for the card reader, it says that you need to plug it into a USB header, and I believe the mobo I had only had one. AHHHH!
  20. Well, basically, I'm graduating this year and would like a new PC to take to school with me. I think I have everything I want and need picked out, I just basically want to know if I'm forgetting anything... LOL. I would hate to get the parts and realize I have to wait for another one to arrive before I build. It is also a little bit over my price range...I'm trying to keep it 600 to 650. I really want to keep the flat panel though, so when/if suggesting other parts to lessen my price, please don't get rid of the panel! I'm looking to play only light games, nothing big at all. Maybe WoW, but I don't really care that much. This machine will be under a semi-heavy work load, lots of photo editing, alot of internet usage, always on, heavy downloading, video & audio editing, and possibly a light server just for my personal use. If you can suggest anything else, or suggest a different part, that would be great as well. 21. okay, so, i'm just wondering really fast what a good piece of software is to block offensive material online and more importantly limit the user's time. this is just for a simple dialup connection and im looking for just a free content filtering software and more importantly a program that will disconnect the internet after an hour or something like that. need this quick, thanks!
  22. get ephPod. Works amazing and it's free.
  23. I have a huge collection of songs -- MP3 and M4A. I'm getting ready to buy an iPod and want the ID3 tags to be perfect and nice and all that jazz...but on a slim chance, I thought I'd ask if there was a program that would do this for me? All songs have title, artist, and album but I want the genre and years, track numbers, etc...automattically put in. any suggestions?
