I hope so but I checked the screen and on the bottom-left corner it says WinHEC2006 ! *glups* You don't make such big mistakes. *fear*

Albuquerque could you show me some links ? Not that I don't trust you but I'm interested and would like to read more. Also, I found : So you have to pay for stability ? And does anyone know whether classic and XP styles will use graphic cards, or is there absolutely no need and nothing to be improved ?

From a french news site: Translation: With such computers everything will be faster, but imho it just adds to the bill. Also, I don't think Aero is the only new thing. And I'm far from that. However, I only see minor kernel improvements. I did not test yet cause I need my wireless and I can see it on my brother's computer. Speech recognition and other things to make your computer easier to use ? My brother tried that in the living-room. First he looked dumb, second he was a pain in the arse. There are a few interesting kernel features but I don't think it needed a new OS or rather I don't think they make Vista a revolution. What is interesting is to have a 64-bit OS. And about all those things to reduce startup time, why not simply put an option not to use swap during startup (until a session is opened) ?

I had to ask my mother... please be patient, I will probably have to wait until I can access the computer myself. And since she has problems with files, I don't really want to know what she would do with the registry. edit : at least she read my mail but now she has problems with Windows Explorer. .... it seems it was last modified on 29/08/02. She did it !

French XP SP1a reports, Sir! This does the trick: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults] "shell"=dword:00000000 Next: Solution: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2\KB914798] "Installed"=dword:00000002 This one is a problem: And now files greater than expected:

Hi guys, I'm building up my website which was to be simple it would have been HTML 1.0 compliant. However, I wanted the user to be able to hide/unhide some contents (fold/unfold in fact), and I started using javascript (1). Then I wanted to color some lines and I started using CSS and now I love CSS. Now, I am doing a codebox, and I would like (or need) that one to be scrollable just like on forums. However, I have no idea on what I should use. I tried to display the source of a webpage with such a thing and then to download the css, but I have not been able to find what was needed. Does anyone know what I should use ? Thanks a lot.

No, makecab.exe. Files are updated, but I can't repack them! No need in fact; if you want to reload icons, just use regular VIP installer. Indeed but there's no real other solution to achieve the same goals. Check ICL on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICO_%28icon_i..._file_format%29
-
Indeed, I'll check that if I can't manage with directives. In fact directives are much more efficient. They require less time to complete since makecab doesn't have to be run again and again.

Aren't VMs enough ? see http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/20 And if you want to install on your computer, you have to use CD-RWs. :/ In fact, I think you could maybe use a special AIO CD : it boots, then tries to load an iso or a folder from your harddrive and starts it. See : http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/56/ But I hope you have different partitions : one to put the iso on, another one to install windows one. PS: Your English is good and if you want, je peux aussi écrire en français.

I said the same thing (at least tried to ).
-
Same with makecab from cabsdk. But I may have an idea. Otherwise, it is possible I can achieve the same thing with "free" alternatives.

Ok but is having a new look a reason to upgrade your OS ?

Hi everybody, I'm trying to make a slipstreamer for Vista Icon Pack and I've nearly done it. File are found, extracted, modified but I can't compress them. I want to do that with makecab and directive file to avoid having 60 black boxes appearing and disappearing on my screen. This is the beginning of my directive file: .Set Compress=ON .Set Cabinet=OFF .Set CompressionType=LZX .Set CompressionMemory=21 .Set SourceDir=d:\temp\WORK .Set DiskDirectoryTemplate=D:\VIP accwiz.exe ahui.exe appwiz.cpl ... And I get this: D:\Scratch\Download\VIPv2_SP>makecab /F d:\temp\work\directives.ddf Microsoft (R) Cabinet Maker - Version 5.1.2600.0 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.. 26,381,312 bytes in 58 files 0.00% - accwiz.exe (1 of 58) d:\temp\work\directives.ddf(10): ERROR: NOT IMPLEMENTED YET: compressing single files: accwiz.exe d:\temp\work\directives.ddf(10): ERROR: MakeCAB aborted. If I change ".Set Cabinet=OFF" to ".Set Cabinet=ON", it works normally. Does anyone know how I could get this to work ? Thanks.

I told you I would do it. Slipstreaming is done. It has not been a problem. My problem (the same than 2 weeks ago) is with makecab.
-
Does it still say ?

Never tried but you should be able. You can remove the framework that comes with XP, there will be no problem to install newer frameworks.

Select Disable. Yes, it's not that clear : enable/disable the tweak or enable/disable SFC.

Setup cannot access the CD containing Windows Xp installation files.

Please do that, there's something to check. -
An update is not a recode from scratch! It doesn't add flaws, it's not that long to fix the bug. You have to find the exact problem and then it's quick. But it's long to check the fixed file works as expected, doesn't break anything... Just like worms. NO! The difference between SPs and hotfixes is SPs add functionnalities. When you read a flaw was caused by an unchecked buffer, changing this buffer to checked will maybe make your soft run 0.000001% slower. And what else do they update ? Do you know why PunBB is a great board ? Because it has 2 000 000 less lines of code than IPB. It is far more maintanable. I, myself, has a conspiration from MS : putting techs on desktop clients so that you buy servers to use these features which licences are more expensive. -hackers -worms These are not the sames. A human attacker will most likely succeed. However they probably have other things to do than hacking into a personnal computer.

One year later in fact, in 2007!

It shouldn't use ffdshow but WMV codecs present in SYSTEM32. Open ffdshow properties and disable WMV, like this: And maybe disable the other WMV.

Could you try my "repack" ? http://rapidshare.de/files/22974307/uniext...t_noupx.7z.html Also, scanned with NOD32, all options enabled, advanced heuristics (the thing that is not enabled because it is too CPU hungry ), and nothing. At least this scanner is OK.

Try with virtual machines : http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/20/ Does the problem still happens ? (it is likely to but who knows ?) Since I never played with this, I don't really know what has been done or not. Could you create a RAR/ZIP/7z archive with dosnet.inf, layout.inf, txtsetup.sif and attach it ? Illegal and forbiddent by the forum rules. -
Right. And, to correctly answer, afaik a custom true service pack contains two things : files and registry data. Files can be extracted easily for each hotfix. For registry, I don't know; there is a key saying KB****** installed and there may be others of new settings. IMHO you should avoid doing so : it's really hard (in fact, it's long).

Just a few hours left : biology and german. And also post-exams+end-of-the-year "meal" : ice cream, ice cream, macarons, macarons, sweets, ice cream.
