  1. There's a tool on your windows cd named "setupmgr.exe"... it's a (sort of) wizard, and it will present you a list of all localisations. ++
  2. Yes. But you'll never use so many fonts. edit: btw, you're in the wrong forum... and that's your first post... this sounds bad for you... (just kidding)
  3. There's no need for third party app, only command line. If your music collection is in the folder C:\MUSIC, you'll type : for /r c:\music %c in (cover.jpg) do ren %c x.jpg and voilà... (but cover.jpg is more explicit than x.jpg ! you should try folder.jpg instead : windows will display them as folder thumbnails)
  4. he said : lol According to the link posted by crystalxp, i understand now that he is trying to replace textmode setup by a gui. So i'm (deadly) wrong. i'm (very) sorry for the inconvenience, and i will (try to) walk on my hands until you pardon me ----------------------------------- @ prathapml > i were always believing that video drivers are installed during gui-mode setup, when the screen blinks. Are you sure that the first gui boot is not based on a "standard SVGA" video driver ?
  5. Run the 7zFM, go to the settings, "plugins" tab, click "configure" and check the extensions you want to associate. There's also the commands presented in the context menu and other options. You only need to backup the settings. the easiest way is by using .reg files First, configure all 7-zip options as you want (in the settings dialog, in the "add files to archive" dialog for each archive type, the colums sizes for each archive type, etc...). Then, open regedit and export the "HKLM\Software\7-Zip" key (it contains the main settings). Then, export the associations. Those are in HKCR, and there's 2 keys for each : If you associate 7-Zip with 7z archives, the keys are "HKCR\.7z" and "HKCR\7-Zip.7z". If you associate 7-Zip with Zip archives, the keys are "HKCR\.zip" and "HKCR\7-Zip.zip". If you associate 7-Zip with cab archives, the keys are "HKCR\.cab" and "HKCR\7-Zip.cab". ... and so on. (note that "associations" are the ones checked in the settings and concern the "double-click". 7-zip will always display the "7zip->open archive" submenu for each recognized archive) You'll get a lot of .reg files, put them into a single one. To reinstall the settings, import it right after 7-zip install. final note : all of this will not work if you change the install location (you'll need to change all the pathes in the .reg)
  6. Maybe i didn't express correctly... or maybe i don't understand the english words "final" & "stable" correctly (their translations are "finale" & "stable"). But, what you're saying (mainly « all the features in the current software are finished, tested and reliable ») is, for me, not the definition of "final", but the definition of "stable". IMHO "final" also means that nothing more is to be added.
  7. This page says that v4.32 is "stable". AFAIK, the linux kernel never gone "final"... The same page says also v4.39 is out... I bet nobody but you want a "final" version... 'coz it'll mean "dead" -OR- "perfect"... and perfection is so boring...
  8. The changelog is there : http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.p...&group_id=14481 and there's only "some bugs were fixed"
  9. ... and also use full qualified path to the .inf file : rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 X:\Path_to\customize.inf and remove that dummy [strings] section...
  10. You are wrong, BTS, during the gui-setup, windows is already installed... (do you remember of windows 95 that were using a "mini windows 3" for its install ? same here, but that's a sort of "safe mode/fail safe windows XP") Then, adding drivers is a PITA... you need to add the files to txtsetup.sif (so they get copied during texmode), and the registry entries in setupreg.hiv or in the existing hive*.inf or in a custom-made hive inf file. Seems simple, but it will work only if the drivers can run with the small amount of services avaiable... @crystalxp > you managed it by forcing a refresh rate change. i presume broadcasting a SPI_DISPLAYSETTINGSCHANGE message to all windows also does the trick
  11. Once installed .NET 2 + .NET 1.1sp1 are bigger than my install ISO i386 folder...
  12. Try "CHDIR /?" in the console Remove the first parameter (%UUCDDRIVE%), and in UUCD.cmd use %~d0 (instead of %1) to refer to the drive the UUCD.cmd file is in
  13. that issue is from good old dos... next time, i won't suppose anything about your knowledge before making suppositions
  14. Nowhere. You did exactly what you were willing to do. BUT 7z SFX modules are unable to launch .cmd files (only .exe), and they are unable to launch a .exe that is not inside the archive. So, to launch your .cmd, you'll need to include in your archive a .exe that will launch it search for "startx.exe" here, DL it, put it inside the 7z and modify the config.txt : StartX is a tool similar to the "start" command of cmd.exe. Little explanation : /WAIT switch to make startx wait until the end of the .cmd execution (without this switch startx will return immediately and 7zSFX will delete everything before .cmd execution) /B switch to run the .cmd in backgound, without any window visible (similar to CMDOW inside the batch, but the windows will not flash) \" escape sequences for quotes, they must be present even if your batch file name doesn't have spaces nota: i don't know if RunProgram= is case sensitive, so you should use the correct case... ++
  15. QCHAIN.exe is for win2000 and old hotfixes (pre-winxpsp2 i think). Now it's built-in each hotfix package. In theory, those new hotfixes that include qchain can be installed in any order (old files will not replace new ones). In reality... well, don't ask dumb questions that lead to headhaches, just install your hotfixes from the oldest to the newest... that's not so hard with a little "DIR *KB*.EXE /B /OD"
  16. Hit <Win>+U on your keyboard, click on the "visual keyboard" line, then press the "start" button... About "editboxes hooking", that's for "badly" written apps... some doesn't use "masked editboxes", but "editboxes with real *" (bad explanation, but i hope you'll understand). I've also seen a "password safe" app whith a masked editbox, but with a false password behind the mask (not the one typed in)
  17. This trick sounds interesting. Tease the hyperhacker Too bad, it's easy to work around : 1/ brute force cracking is far easier when you had "keylogged" the right characters 2/ mouse clicks and/or time between key presses allows to know "words" to permit into the password In fact the only good password is the one which changes randomly after each use ++
  18. I believe MBSA is actually *downloading* the signatures before checking the files.
  19. I used DVD Decrypter. there's lot of (unuseful) options, but it allow a "single click backup" of any dvd to your hard drive. VERY useful when your cheap DVD drive is noisy... About the legit question, new (french) laws says that bypassing DRMs (even in the "noisy drive" case) or providing ways to do so is not legit. French readers : you've been warned. Others : i advise you not to come here with your notebook full of DVD backup ; even if you bought your DVDs, even if you only wanted to watch them in the flight... (hopefully, there's cinemas )
  20. You're welcome... About Foxit : yes, i know... see my 4th point Suggestions : - replace Adobe Reader by a "ShellExecute wrapper" : ShellExecute is a Win32 API that can "run the associated program" (in other words, it behave as if you had doubleclicked on it). There's StartX.exe on this forum ; and also NirCmd from NirSoft.net. Example with StartX (in %windir%) : CmdLine = 10,,"StartX.exe ""%16422%\DVD-ReBuilder\DVD-Rebuilder EasyGuide.pdf""" Avantage : will work no matter of the "preferred PDF viewer" Drawback : you'll loose that super icon - fool the INF parser by using another space, i mean the Alt+0160 or Alt+255 magic combo instead of the real space (both in the file name and the INF file, of course) Avantage : you'll get the correct icon Drawback : you will forget about that and loose many hours before remembering which of the two magic combos you used About the RunDLL commands for moving a file or deleting a directory...hell...thats like using a heavy truck to transport a pizza, instead of using a motorcycle Some people uses batch files, even to make shortcuts (look... you can even call your batch with an inf...)
  21. Easy solution : use a font with no hyphen character as the titlebars font Hard solution : too hard for me
  22. @ Djé > wow... impressing ! all these CHCP killed by a REG EXPORT + TYPE... @ ZileXa > 1/ The space in the CmdLine of the shortcut is interpreted by the INF parser as a separator between the excutable and its parameters. So you only need to link to Adobe Reader with your pdf as a parameter : [easyGuide] Name = EasyGuide CmdLine = 16422,"Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader","AcroRd32.exe ""%16422%\DVD-ReBuilder\DVD-Rebuilder EasyGuide.pdf""" IconPath=16422,"Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader",AcroRd32.dll IconIndex=2 SubDir= Copy DVD movies (bonus: the "pdf file" icon instead of the "adobe reader" one) 2/ INF can delete folders in some cases. Here you go : click (the keywords are highlighted, in case you want to check if the "search" feature of the forum is working ) 3/ Yes, there's no MoveFiles. There's RenFiles, CopyFiles and DelFiles ; and these 3 allow all possible file operations. 4/ Yes, INF are totally inefficient... So you'll learn VBS, and you'll see that VBS syntax is toooooooo heaaaaaavyyyyyyyyyyyy... So you'll learn C++ and you'll se that Windows API is soooooo buuuugggggyyyyyyyyy.... So you'll switch to linux (and i'll stop trolling)
