hi all techno-knights, I installed a software called "Word-Web" an english e-dictionary. Upon installation i was given an option for keeping the same launched from the task bar. So an icon can dazzling in the task bar. I tried to edit the property of the icon and set a short-cut key for the application. (using right clicking the icon on the task pane and setting in the properties) I gave " a " in the text box provided for that . so the field automatically changes to " Ctrl + Alt + A ". I applied the changes and when i pressed " Ctrl + Alt + A ", to my surprise the application is not invoked. so can u plz tell me how should i proceed... thanks and with best regards, Ootsoo.

"A female secretary was helping her new boss set up his computer and asked him what word he would like to use as a password to log in with. Wanting to embarrass his new secretary a bit and let her know where She stood, he smugly told her to enter 'p*nis' Without blinking or saying a word, she entered the password." She then almost died laughing at the computer's response: See down ..... See down....... PASSWORD REJECTED. NOT LONG ENOUGH .....!!!!!!

hi all, the net(/forums) helped me to get an answer for my query.. Suppose i hve an excel sheet like this.. | A | B | C | D 1 | X 2 3 4 if i need to freeze the pane so that row " | A | B | C | D " should stay unmoved if i scroll down.. and column "1 2 3 4 " shld not move if i scroll to my right.. the solution is too simple... make X the current cell and freeze panes. This will freeze the row above and column to the left of it. so the thumb rule is " go to the cell that is exactly 1 cell below and right to the intersection point and freeze panes there. " is that fine. bye regards, Ootsoo

hi all infoknights, I want a small help in MS-Excel! Is it possible to freeze mulitple panes? what i mean is that suppose Row "A" in an excel file has the list of students name (say some 5 students). Column "1" has their correponding register numbers. is it possible to freeze both "A" and "1", such that datas are kept on entering seeing the name n number side by side w/o hassle? is that possible? if yes how? please respond! regards, ootsoo

hi all infoknights, Well natural disasters in our world is increasing.... Two rival nations are shook bad due to the recent quakes. yes boss..its INDIA & PAKISTAN.. we all know they are one among the few nations that are right to be called the rivals.. Had they be in union then more prosperity would hve been there and they would hve be cherished like anything. At this moment pakistan is affected more than indian kashmir. now at this moment had u been an indian would u lend a supporting had to the pak people and will u help them? yes sure ..they are ofcourse a part of us.!!! or u say nay i will not and still keep away so as not to invite trouble? my vote to the 'Yes.they (were)are also a part of India!' regards, Ootsoo

hi all, this s coolllllll regards, Ootsoo As I walked into my office, my secretary, Janet, said, Good morning boss. Happy Birthday. And I felt a little better; someone had remembered. I worked until noon. Then, Janet knocked on my door and said You know, its such a beautiful day outside and its your birthday lets go to lunch, just you and me. I said, Oh yeah, thats the greatest thing Ive heard all day. Lets go. We went to lunch. We didnt go where we normally go; we went out to the country to a little private place. We had two martinis and enjoyed lunch tremendously. On the way back to the office, she said, You know, its such a beautiful day. We dont need to go back to the office, do we? I said, No, I guess not. She said, Lets go to my apartment. After arriving at her apartment she said, Boss, if you dont mind, I think Ill go into the bedroom and slip into something more comfortable. Sure, I excitedly replied. She went into the bedroom and, in about six minutes, she came out carrying a big birthday cake, followed by my wife, children, and dozens of our friends, all singing Happy Birthday. - - - - - - - - - - - - And there I sat...on the couch..........naked!

Memory Leaks in JNI Calls
ootsoo posted a topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
Hi all, The past few queries i wanted to convey this ,,. Please tell me if u get some solution for this .... Description :- I am facing memory leak problem in the following JNI calls. FindClass () CallStaticObjectMethod () CallIntMethod () GetStaticMethodID () GetMethodID () JNI_CreateJavaVM () When i use the above mentioned JNI calls in my code then memory leak occurrs and the memory consumption increases continiously. Below is the sample code that i used to confirm the memory leak in the JNI calls. #include <jni.h> #include <windows.h> #include <conio.h> #define MAXPATH 1024 #define JRE_KEY "Software\\JavaSoft\\Java Runtime Environment" #define JVM_DLL "jvm.dll" #ifdef _WIN32 #define PATH_SEPARATOR ';' #else /* UNIX */ #define PATH_SEPARATOR ':' #endif #define USER_CLASSPATH "." /* where Prog.class is */ typedef jint (JNICALL *CreateJavaVM_t)(JavaVM **pvm, void **env, void *args); typedef jint (JNICALL *GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs_t)(void *args); typedef struct { CreateJavaVM_t CreateJavaVM; GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs_t GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs; } InvocationFunctions; jboolean LoadJavaVM(const char *jvmpath, InvocationFunctions *ifn) { HINSTANCE handle; /* Load the Java VM DLL */ if ((handle = LoadLibrary(jvmpath)) == 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Error loading: %s\n", jvmpath); return JNI_FALSE; } /* Now get the function addresses */ ifn->CreateJavaVM = (CreateJavaVM_t)GetProcAddress(handle, "JNI_CreateJavaVM"); ifn->GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs = (GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs_t)GetProcAddress(handle, "JNI_GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs"); if (ifn->CreateJavaVM == 0 || ifn->GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs == 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Error: can't find JNI interfaces in: %s\n", jvmpath); return JNI_FALSE; } return JNI_TRUE; } static jboolean GetStringFromRegistry(HKEY key, const char *name, char *buf, jint bufsize) { DWORD type, size; if (RegQueryValueEx(key, name, 0, &type, 0, &size) == 0 && type == REG_SZ && (size < (unsigned int)bufsize)) { if (RegQueryValueEx(key, name, 0, 0, (LPBYTE)buf, &size) == 0) { return JNI_TRUE; } } return JNI_FALSE; } static jboolean GetPublicJREHome(char *buf, jint bufsize) { HKEY key, subkey; char version[MAXPATH]; /* Find the current version of the JRE */ if (RegOpenKeyEx(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, JRE_KEY, 0, KEY_READ, &key) != 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Error opening registry key '" JRE_KEY "'\n"); return JNI_FALSE; } if (!GetStringFromRegistry(key, "CurrentVersion", version, sizeof(version))) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed reading value of registry key:\n\t" JRE_KEY "\\CurrentVersion\n"); RegCloseKey(key); return JNI_FALSE; } /* Find directory where the current version is installed. */ if (RegOpenKeyEx(key, version, 0, KEY_READ, &subkey) != 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Error opening registry key '" JRE_KEY "\\%s'\n", version); RegCloseKey(key); return JNI_FALSE; } if (!GetStringFromRegistry(subkey, "JavaHome", buf, bufsize)) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed reading value of registry key:\n\t" JRE_KEY "\\%s\\JavaHome\n", version); RegCloseKey(key); RegCloseKey(subkey); return JNI_FALSE; } RegCloseKey(key); RegCloseKey(subkey); return JNI_TRUE; } main() { InvocationFunctions ifn; JNIEnv *env; JavaVM *jvm; JavaVMInitArgs args; JavaVMOption options[1]; jint res; jobject obj; jclass cls; jmethodID mid; char jvmpath[MAXPATH]; /* IMPORTANT: specify vm_args version # if you use JDK1.1.2 and beyond */ GetPublicJREHome(jvmpath,MAXPATH); strcat(jvmpath,"\\bin\\client\\jvm.dll"); ifn.CreateJavaVM = 0; ifn.GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs = 0; LoadJavaVM(jvmpath, &ifn); // Fill the args structure args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_4; args.nOptions = 1; options[0].optionString = "-Djava.class.path=E:\\sample"; args.options = options; args.ignoreUnrecognized = JNI_FALSE; // Create the Java VM //res = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm,(void **)&env,&args); res = (*ifn.CreateJavaVM)(&jvm,(void **)&env,&args); if (res < 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Can't create Java VM\n"); exit(1); } // Find the User defined class cls = env->FindClass("HelloWorld"); if (cls == 0) { res=GetLastError(); fprintf(stderr, "Can't find Hello World class\n"); exit(1); } int i=0; while(1) { // Get the Method Id to be invoked mid = env->GetMethodID(cls, "sample", "()V"); if (mid == 0) { return 1; } // Creation of New Object and Execution of Method obj = env->NewObject(cls,mid); i++; // Calling the Method using the object env->CallVoidMethod(obj, mid); //mid =NULL; // Get the static method ID mid = env->GetStaticMethodID(cls, "main", "([Ljava/lang/String;)V"); if (mid == 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Can't find Prog.main\n"); exit(1); } // Invoking the main function call env->CallStaticVoidMethod(cls, mid); //mid =NULL; // Creation of new object jobject obj1 = env->AllocObject(cls); // Get the Method Id to be invoked mid = env->GetMethodID(cls,"sum","(II)I"); jint result; // Invoking the method using parameters //while(i<=500) //{ result = env->CallIntMethod(obj1,mid,2,6); i++; //} //mid =NULL; printf("\nResult is %d",result); // Invoking the Constructor mid = env->GetMethodID(cls,"<init>","(I)V"); env->CallVoidMethod(obj1,mid,4); //mid =NULL; mid = env->GetMethodID(cls,"getVar","()I"); jint r2 = env->CallIntMethod(obj1,mid); //mid =NULL; // Deletion of objects env->DeleteLocalRef(obj); env->DeleteLocalRef(obj1); } jvm->DestroyJavaVM(); getch(); } thanks & regards, Ootsoo -

is it possible to build such page?
ootsoo replied to bulb's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
hi bulb, Can u be more precise on ur query please. It may not only help u (so that it may reach masses in more easier way)....but also it will help fellas like me so that we can also learn from it... regards, Ootsoo -
hi people, I need a small help from u. Like i m n process of developing a server page. In that i have embeded an icon. but i have the icon as an Activex control. so that i can drop a file on that control to upload that file.Also i m enabling a popup menu for that icon so as to select many options from that pop up menu. As per the genral protocol on right click on the icon i call a JS page and on selecting an option from the menu, it must forward to a JSP page. the problem is that when i resize the IE window to (say 25% of its full size) and right click on that ICON ,...i m getting the [Activex control] icon infront of the popup menu distrupting the contents of the popup menu. so please give me a solution for that... thns n regards, Ootsoo
