Installing some applications upon firstlogon
urie replied to Raoul90's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
do you only have 1 image file in your wim file also what what image are you installing with autounattend.xml i,e ultimate or is it enterprise. enterprise fair enough only one image but windows 7 x86 has 5 and x64 has 4. I only use Professional 32 and Professional 64bit. you may only be installing professional but which is install.wim Image Index: 4 in x86 and Image Index: 3 in x64 but when you are modding the image it looks like image number 1 you are mounting which is starter or have you removed all other images. Yes I removed all other images, since I dont need them. Only other thing i can think of are you unmounting the wim file but didn't use commit. -

Firstly let me say thanks for the tool..! I have figured out all the options and created, packed (took 80mins using 6.21) Used poweriso to create an iso, removing the autounattend.xml before doing so and then tested the iso install using VMware V7. Now the install goes well, however when i attached a USB flash drive and attempt to install using the autounattend.xml it stalls after 1st reboot at the completing install phase, looks to be about 70% done. My question is what in the autounattend.xml sample that Max provided, would stall the install... cos i'm stuck.. ? Another question, icreated a multiinstall XP install based on the unattended sif file leaving out computer, Prod key and user name so that they could be added during install to personalise the install (repair shop) can the autounnattend be used to do the same thing or must the fields be filled in otherwise the xml answer file fails.. ? Yes you can leave out name serial e.c.t in autounattend.xml it will ask you for those when installing, Also Se7en_UA whould have copied Autounattend.xml to usb drive for you and made is no need to use poweriso.

Problem with shrinking image 64 bit. GimageX
urie replied to crunch81's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Thank you, I read the topic. But I am using GimageX (GUI) it's a little easier for me. So I first have to capture? And then export en compress to maximum? Will that save a lot of space? And is it correct that the image will shrink only 200 mb max? Thanks again. Yes there is not a lot gained from compression is it only one image in your install.wim you can remove other versions also that does help have a look at Se7en_UA on the stickies it can remove other images compress and do unattended install with applications. -
