  1. Hi all, I am going to install xp within WinPe by xcopying $WIN_NT$ etc... folder. But the problem is how can I make the drive bootable? Is there a way to write a bootsector to the harddrive that points windows setup?? I know that during the boot process, boot sector tells system to load this file run this etc.. How can I make a boot sector like this? Or, How can I save a boot sector of a hard drive, that succesfully boots, and write that sector to another harddisk that has different capacity? Any help will be appreciated.
  2. Looking forward to test and use it in the office with PC's p3 450&128 mb ram...
  3. If size is not problem I highly recommend using BartPe. With an easy plugin addition, you can also put some troubleshooting applications. You can automate the process of course, when it boots, it can start your application or script automatically. Just search forums about Winpe or Bartpe. You will see what I mean...
  4. No dude. You can use diskpart only within windows. Then your solution is not cdshell but Winpe or Bartpe. You boot into a windows 32 bit environment, do partitioning with diskpart scripting, then start your setup again within windows environment. This can be also very useful for unattended situations and faster setup but you must fit your windows setup to 550-600 mb since Winpe Or bartpe occupies min 100 mb on a cd... Your idea is super, but I dont know how to edit windows loader. If one can do it, it would change all unattended situations.. If you find how to do it, please post here AND send a mail or message to me.. I will also search to find a method to do it.. Good luck..
  5. Hmm.... cdshell cannot call dos applications. But, it can call your bootable images. You can create an image of your partitioning floppy or floppies. You should put your script in that image that asks something like 'do you want to part....??'. and automatically parts the disk. After that, you reboot, and start windows setup this time from the same cd.
  6. You can use 'CDSHELL'.. link:cdshell It is very easy to adapt and occupies very less space. Before you load windows setup from cdshell, you can load a bootable partition magic or Acronis partition expert cd. First you do partitioning job, then you start windows setup with 1 single cd.. Hope helps..
  7. This is may be a Windows related problem. Did you try booting form winpe or bartpe and then accessing that folder?? If not, I recommend download pebuilder form here, build one and try openning the folder within bartpe..
  8. ehuehuheuhe man! just put the meaningful lines, not dots.. if you put the "@echo off" at the beginning of your autoexec.bat without the quotes, your batch will be much better.. I mean your autoexec.bat should be similar to this; @echo off [your restoring codes] echo The image is succesfully restored! pause hope this helps..
  9. Hi again RAZ Dad You can put these at the end of your autoexec.bat; ..... ..... ..... echo The image is succesfully restored! pause .... ....
  10. What do you mean with "I have to do it manually"?? Do you use diskpart or someting else? If not you can use built-in windows diskpart tool to automate the partitioning. For additional info about diskpart scripts just search google.. It will be very helpful. For M$ point of view; When to use diskpart? What it mentions is; just set your first partition in text-mode of setup and let setup part and format the remaining disk with diskpart after the Windows setup automatically.
  11. Dear Davor, Are you an administrator? Do you deal with tens of new pc's to be installed every day? Do you consume lots of time with installing favorite applications, device drivers to a newly instaled windows? Are you planning to sell your costum pc's with your custom Windows to express people with it's ease? Do you help your friends with their crashed Windows? Do you have a low specific pc with 128 mb ram, 4 gb HDD, celeron 400-500??? If not, nLite is not for you! nLite is not for home users...It just simplifies all the job for administrators/computer sellers. For each set of (100-200) pc's, nLited windows setup is miracle... You should not be understanding this concept...
  12. I am currently working as a helpdesk operator in an ISP for dial-up connection. We also encounter this problem sometimes and we are not able to solve it. Generally restart works, but, when restart fails, we recommend re-install the tcp/ip. Since the costumer does not recall us, we suppose that installing tcp/ip components from add/remove programs works.. Please post your result here we can learn the solution.
  13. You may load your OS's files into an iso that boots directly into dos or WinPe or BartPe than copy these files to the hard drive in Virtual Machine.. Or, You can select a partition to be assigned to be the hard drive of the virtual machine. I dont remember now but if Microsoft's virtual machine is not supporting this, I'm sure that VMWare supports.. Good luck..
  14. Professional Sp2... So weird... Anyway.. you got what you want..
  15. I tried it. Before changing the registry setting, when I put the cd, autorun was launched. Also, I clicked it in My Computer and also it did AUTORUN.. But now it doesnt...
  16. It works on my pc dude. Have you tried to restart??
  17. Try to update your mainboard's bios. May helps.. For me it worked..
  18. I dont know the other ways if exist, so here is my solution; 1) Disable "Use simple file sharing" in Folder options on both pc's. 2) Open an iexplorer and type the ip adress of the other pc followed with the $[drive letter]. Example: \\987.654.321.012\c$ means I want to access to c drive of the computer that has the ip {987.654.321.012}... It may ask a username and password. Then type the account name and it's password that has administrator rights on the pc being accessed and fully access that drive.. Hope it works for you...
  19. Open regedit, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Services>Cdrom>Autorun" Set it to "0"... Remember; It is usually the easiest way to solve the problems by a simple google search. Go google.com and type "How to disable autorun" and click search button.. The solution I provided is just copy of the solution in the first page in search results...However, if you havent asked this question, I would have never been learned this solution.. THANK YOU!!
  20. If you have a higher RAM than 128 mb, and your cpu is not below average, I advise you to install Sp2 without doubt. Your pc will be more secure.
  21. Hehehe Windows.... Even do not try to understand.. Just confess!
  22. No dude. As far as I know, you can not change the language if it is chinese version CD.
  23. Actually, that would be great. What I suggested was the painless method of doing this...If you manage this please tell me how you do.
  24. Instead, one can create a shortcut to desired folder/drive and directly put it into quicklaunch with desired icon...
  25. You should not remove all languages during nLite. I dont have nLite installed but I remember that there was a section that you remove some languages. If you dont delete the language or language groups that contains your keyboard definitions, you will be able to switch them in windows without any problem.
