  1. You may require better cooling. Freezes often mean overheating.
  2. In my experience, if you don't find an error within one hour, you probably won't find one within 12. Around an hour and a half is where you at the least should check.
  3. 1 hour isn't sufficient! You're required to run it for 12 hours!
  4. Sounds like no partitions at all on that HDD.
  5. I dunno. Probably isn't because it failed. Sounds like probably because the CD wasn't being recognised.
  6. Yes, the web site has a problem, because the last time I tried, which was a while ago, the web site kept on giving me the error message about it being unavailable. It may be wrongfully banning IP addresses, because I was able to download it from another internet connection.
  7. With ***STOP: 0x000000C1, I dunno. That's an unknown one.
  8. SP2 comes with DirectX 9.0c!
  9. Yes, the registry was introduced with Windows 3.1, but the majority wasn't stored there, thus, you usually didn't go there for the configuration settings. The majority of the configuration settings were in ini files. The registry probably wasn't even in the same format. The registry as we know it didn't exist until Windows 95.
  10. With Firefox 2.0.0.8, some text isn't where it's supposed to be, at least the buttons at the top, where you have the buttons "MSFN Home Forum Rules Unattended Guide Login Register" With Firefox, the Login button is in the wrong place! With Internet Explorer 7, it's fine.
  11. Actually, you must do (MTU) - 28 for the packet size, thus, 1464 instead of 1492!
  12. Here's mine again. It seems to be fixed for now:
  13. Sorry, Windows Defender don't support Windows 2000! At the time of the post, it was working with Windows 2000. You're correct. Microsoft thinks that we're gonna cough up money for a later version of Windows because they tricked people (at least n00bies) into believing that malware removal is impossible with Windows 2000!
  14. You need to check Device Manager!
  15. Sorry, Windows Defender don't support Windows 2000!
  16. But, the permissions may be corrupted. I came across a Windows XP installation where it won't allow access to a registry key, no matter what and can't uninstall software! This may be some rootkit at work.
  17. The partition being wiped out sounds like a virus.
  18. You need to put the Windows CD in and make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from it before the HDD and then delete the partition, reboot and recreate the partition on your primary master. Make sure that your documents, music, photos and videos are saved to another drive! Also, make sure that the Windows CD is bootable!
  19. While I do agree with the above about taking files from later Windows versions, that don't mean they're gonna waste money for Vista nor Windows XP, because many PCs don't meet the minimum requirements for Windows Vista and Windows XP may slow down some PCs. In this case, they should look for Windows 98. Besides, games likely have issues with anything less than Windows 98.
  20. Yep, because probably Windows settings are corrupted, possibly including the files. Your video card probably is fine.
  21. Looks like reformat and reinstall time.
  22. I gotten that error message (or similar) just by setting the swap file to bigger than 768 MB! That's a new bug I found! Have you ever saw that before?
  23. don't think so I tried the HDD with another computer and it had no bad sectors or whatever. You may have a dying CMOS battery.
  24. Sounds like Windows got corrupted and thus required to reformat and reinstall Windows. Sorry.
  25. If you get a BSOD and reboot out of the blue. Most likely causes: 1. Processor overheating. 2. Failing hardware.
