I have had a Sony and a Pioneer Dvd Reader fail on me, both within a year of their purchase... but i think a burner would be a different story...hopfully. =Drew

Well first off Dos is a OS....but besides that...i think that a well maitained clean Win2k is the most stable Os of all time.....its beating linix and unix for server longevity, and after using it all my older rig...its definatly on of the best Oses of all time...Not to mention Xp is built on top of a Win2k kernal... =Drew

You could use a brute force hack...might take a week but, if you have important files on it, it may be worth it... Or you could get a new harddrive, set the currten drive to salve, and install Win xp on the new Drive, then access the old drive Via the new os and srag and drop the wanted files... But if nothings on there of serious value, just format..it will be the most simple operation.. =Drew

Tris posted a story about this on the front page awhile back....pretty interesting tecnology...definatly will be used in and on war machines...for example...a lietal stealth tank...both by ways of radar and to the eye......that could be seriouls crazy... =Drew

Look into Java Based browser applications..i have seen those around, and they are not generally restricted by companies, due to the fact that they dont know the exist... =Drew

I think the best dvd burner on the market right now is the newest sony, which can burn both + and - dvds. its right about 350 us dollers. While the newest Pioneer A06 4x burner is a bit cheaper but can only burn - Either way you probly wanna stick with - due to the fact that they are playable in the majority or hone set dvd players..... I have also heard good things about Cendyne...they are made by pionner...but cheaper.... =Drew
