I meant booting an iso of some sort. Like say if I want to be able to add Acronis True Image to the boot as well I'll give the links a look - thanks!

Hopefully someone can help with this question... How would I make something like UBCD bootable within this environment? It has it's own partition but how do I properly point to it? is it that wingrub / grup will automatically point to the right files?

Why can't I use Vista's own backup and restore to make an image? I remember reading an article about the capability. It may not be as good as Ghost or Acronis but it is free. I haven't actually restored the image so not sure what to expect but I would imagine it would it restore the image like any of the other products

I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find search anywhere. Is it that they want people to use the search boxes that show up in explorer? Or the start menu search? I still would prefer the option to see search on my start menu so thanks for this

The patch I just used seemed to make quite a mess on my bro's pc. I had to do a system restore to get things properly running again. Wondering if there is a more up to date patch? Also from a reliable download site. Unless there is another way (without installing a third party app) to connect to my brother's machine without him having to use Remote Assistance

I actually just downloaded Virtual PC to give that a go. Was using VM Ware since it supports 64 bit hosts but I'll try it now within Virtual PC

I like to install apps into a virtual machine before actually installing it on my desktop. Imagine my happiness when I read through my license and found this.... USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. But even though it's supposed to be supported, I have run into only issues. Has anyone tried running Vista Ultimate within a virtual machine on desktop already activated for Vista Ultimate? Clearly the license says I can but it's not working out that way. I now have to call Microsoft whenever I need to reactivate my desktop (tendency of reinstalling everything every quarter) regardless of the fact that I have not changed any of my hardware since I first got my retail (not OEM) copy back in January. On top of that, when I now try to activate within VMWare it says the key is not genuine. It appears I'm unable to actually run both at the same time even though it clearly says that I can. Can anyone comment on this? I've had no luck with Microsoft support so far. No one knows the specifics about this. One genius thought I was talking about running Vista within a Mac OS

I can't get Vista to install...keeps failing. Boot loader is intact, though. Is there any way to remove this without reformatting? I tried using fixmbr in recovery console but it did nothing.

I'm pretty much done with my disk but need to get firefox to work in ERD. I was kinda following the instructions in the other thread but the cd ceases to function by using one of the commands. I really rather not spend any more time trying to get it to work as I've spent so much time already getting this disc to where I want it to be. Can I now just edit the disc and copy in the firefox folders? What options do I have to set in this?

I'm using CDShell 2.1.6. Tried bcdw 1.5 and bcdw 2.0a1 to get the bcdw.csm module to load up a acronis boot disc but I keep getting a error about a unknown command even though I placed the csm file in cdshell's module folder. Got it. I had to move the isolinux folder too.

I think some things have changed since flyakite wrote his tutorial. Anyway, I can get ubcd to boot and some of the options actually to load up but any of the images with this command fail... then memdisk but this works... then isolinux memdisk then diskemu Why would these two work but not memdisk? I moved these directories to the root of my dvd... dosapps images boot folder as UBCD Plus, I have the ubcd folder in my setup folder. Not sure why that one command refuses to work. Whenever I select a image with that command, I get unknown command erorr.

How do I do this? I sometimes use this to fix a mbr so having it as an option would be helpful.
