  1. Tesco.net 56k dialup, out here in the wilds of Wales, surrounded by pensioners (so no hope of the exchange being upgraded ). I'm hoping to upgrade to a carrier pigeon by the end of the year...
  2. I tend to collect dust.........
  3. Ok, so if something like Longhorn is said to be at the alpha stage, and proggies close to release are beta versions, why don't we have release software referred to as gamma releases? I'm fully aware it's not important, but it still gets me a-wondering. Like the grapefruit. Who saw one and thought "my god, that reminds me *so much* of a grape"? Hmmm. Yes, ok, I'll try and get out more "Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas."
  4. I used BlackVipers XP guide to trim the services in 2003 Standard Ed., its quite similar in application, throw in a dash of common sense - if it looks important, try stopping it first and see what happens - and I've got the memory overhead down to 74MB with no problems.
  5. Hmm, if flying is so safe, why is an airport called a terminal? And if glass is made of sand, why aren't beaches see-through? Y'know, I'll be glad once the footy season starts again
  6. ZoneAlarm Pro 3.7.159 seems very stable with Win2k3, standard and enterprise. So far.... *crosses fingers*
  7. Thanks all! Btw FthrJACK, I'm actually from Liverpool, but been here in Wales for 4yrs. Oh, the fun when the rugby is on....
  8. Yeah, but it's so messy like that..... Thats the thing, it's the only hidden folder I use regularly, I have "show all..." set to off, but I'd like to have that folder available at all times. Is there a way to override/change the properties of a system folder, or am I just stuck with it? Ahh, hang on, it's microsoft, yeah, I'm probably stuck with it then.. 9. The local settings folder is hidden by default, but when I change its properties so as it's shown, it remains visible until I reboot, then goes back to being hidden again. Is there any way to make it permanently visible? I know it'll only save a few clicks, but hey, they must add up....
  10. Hi all, just thought I'd be polite and introduce myself (no doubt my mother would be proud of me ) from here in North Wales, UK. I think, therefore I'm right.
