Well i def fit into the "other's" catagory here use Xgen Quick heal 7 on all my machines

I think the 4000xt is kyro or kyro2 based card isnt it?? have u tried updating the drivers for it or maybe trying to get generic drivers from the kyro chip manufacturer. i have had the 4000xt and 4500xt and had no problems but i always used the latest drivers, they run generic drivers really well heres a link if it helps http://www.powervr.com/Downloads.asp hope this sorts the prob

its in gpedit.msc under User config/Admin templates/system and its also under User config/Admin templates/Windows Components/Windows Update

it may be that someone has disabled all access to it in the group policy editor. U can get to it from tweakui if u have it installed, if not use the admin tools in control panel and hit group policy editor check the windows update settings there hope this helps

I had this from a couple of pc's in the last couple of days seems to be something with the standard setup for windows file protection it seems to go on a scan fest every now and again. If u just keep hitting cancel after about 9 times it seems to just sit back and disappear again (or it has on the pc's i have done) hope this helps the only true solution i have found to it is to disable wfp from the services (not the wisest way but it works)

I just built my system after much painstaking over the parts got a final config together and low and behold the only thing giving probs is the SATA. Its built into the ICH5 on the 875P chipset and works well when emulating IDE connection but wont support Native mode. It doesnt bother me much as the system is more reliable than i ever expected and really runs well final specs were.. Gigabyte GA8-IK1100 P4 2.4c ghz with HT 2gb Samsung ECC DDR 333 2x Seagate barracudas 120gb in raid 0 Wildcat VP990 512mb G/C i have checked on ms technet and they say SATA native is not supported in current os's but will be in future versions. If i run in Raid i can use the intel disk that i got then F6 at install and all works well but had the unfortunate thing of one of the H/D's being faulty and had to return it. New one should be here soon but i am having to run one H/D at the mo and this is where the problem is it wont install or run XP on Native only if it emulates the SATA to IDE pri master. The weird thing is i can get it to install on SATA Native then on first boot gives a stop error saying 0x00007 this from my experience normally happens when the memory is to aggressivly timed or when a hard drive controller i.e SCSI cant find the drivers. It seems to work then this happens any help on this would be much apreciated especially if the help comes from someone who has SATA running in Native with no Raid.

Yep your right it is on the Q3a engine but with some serious revamping the graphics are like jk2 in looks only much smoother and far more flashy effects like steam from the saber when rain drops hit it. Yeah it is Jedi Knight and sorry to hear u dont like it but hey im a Star Wars junkie got all the games i could find (and yeah i still play Tie Fighter) but i must admit i suck at them most the time!!!!! i do get my good days and playing online in mp death matchs and capture the flag, Duel is quite fun!!!

has anyone else seen these ads for jk3 it looks amazing had a oppurtunity to play it and well its absolutly mind boggling!!! The graphics are not much more than a tweaked jk2 but the moves and fighting style is well the best i have ever seen. Just wanted to know how many ppl are waiting for this release and how many ppl are going to play this amazing game online. Has anyone seen a release date i was told sept 16th is the day to get it so i must say for me that falls well a day after payday cant wait to get this online and see if it can truly beat jk2

Thats a decent spec machine and the 5600 is a new card the 5900 that your talking about is like its big brother, faster, smarter and a lot more expensive u have a really good card and if i were u id get some heavy duty gaming on the go really test the card for the money they dont disapoint

Go for the Thermaltake Xaser III in blue thats one really well built case and it comes with a decent PSU (or does from my suppliers) the expansion bays are really put together nice (no finger cutting edges) and you cant really beat Thermaltake on cooling they got it sewn up!!!

Aaron just looked at the new system specs thats one hot machine that thing will burn up streets (virtual anyway) at around 300mph very, very, very tasty!!!!!

thats the main problem im in the trade and can get a SATA 120gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 for £70, so its not that much more than the IDE versions this is why im wondering if now would be a good time to change? and i know about and have read the specs for SATA2. But i would like some of the new crc and other error checking enhancements currently in SATA and not in IDE i know the performance boost is not that much but some is better then none and hotplugging is something i like to be able to use i like my scsi raid array for having it but that would put me well over budget for the new PC i was wondering if anyone had problems with setups or other minor quirks using SATA in its current form??

How many ppl out there want SATA at the mo? I am building a new system at the mo and have most of the specs down for it, but i am in a bit of a dillema over the Hard drives to use. Do i go for the SATA drives which trade are not much more than IDE drives or do i stick with IDE for a while then change?? the thing is i dont want to build my new kick a** system only to change the drives a few weeks after any comments will be much appreciated this is the new system specs so far.. You said your using the latest drivers, is that the 3.6 catalyst's? if it is i have had the same problem with nearly the same games ut2k3 and jk2, changed to the omegadrivers and bingo away they go and im getting better fps than i ever did with the catalyst drivers!!!

Well this may seem bad but its nice to know im not going mad and im glad im not the only one having problems heard back from logitech and they said its a hardware issue with my machine!!!!! (dont think so) my machine runs fine until i use these drivers well all i can say is "F***ing logitech" im sticking with my linux install until logitech or m$ release a decent driver!! at least Gentoo recognises it and uses all the features

Hello all just wondering if anyone has the same problem as me im running XP pro on a P4 and every now and again i get bsod'ed on startup it relates to a dll file named l8042pr i tracked it down to the logitech drivers im using, the latest ones i have tested this on all the os's i have and it seems to just be XP releated both Home and Pro do it but 2000, ME, 98 are ok ive posted a support message to logitech but had no answer (think theyed give better service to there oem's wouldnt you )yet i was wondering if anyone had found a cure to this (apart from dont use the drivers) thx in advance for any help

Just a quick question i noticed the post on a quiet install of Partition Magic 8.0 and thought "oops another disk to build and burn" put in the switchs as described and then decided to try the new cd in a vmware machine everything worked fine (or so i thought) no errors nothing then checked on my installed programs and no partition magic checked my install folder (as i decided on my build not to delete it) and it was there even runs from the folder and asks for the code just wondering if i missed something in the answer file or a regtweak to get it to register the code any help would be much appreciated. I did take the registry settings for Partition magic and they install fine.

now this is good being an Oem for M$ i know most of the stuff like putting the drivers in during setup but to tell the truth never thought of doing all the reghacks and the add ons always done that afterwards but thanx to this little discussion and the pointers and links people have put up im now in the process of renewing all my restore cd's with what people need to get XP just the way it should be (never know one day we may not need to do it M$ will actually do it for us!!!! NOT) im really pleased people are trying things like this it saves everyone's time and makes life a little easier. one more thing does anyone know where to get some more reghacks for XP just so i can take a look and see what i can possibly do to make it a little more interesting thank's in advance for any help

Just a quick question if anyone wants to take a stab at it why do you think the all seeing M$ decided to drop the most used network card driver from 2k3??? After much searching i did manage to find one but just trying to get others opinions on why they think ms dropped it as far as i can remember this card was supported in 2k and XP without probs also if anyone can tell me where i can get a copy of the changes made to IIS as i really cant see any so if anyone knows plz let me in on the secret. oh and 2k3 kicks booty finally m$ release something worth paying for have they all had brain transplants?? two good os's from the company who cant get nothing right!!!
