There are actually two ways to install this. One is to apply this to your current version of Windows, but there are some files you may not be able to delete. THe other is to install another Windows XP OS, boot from the old OS, and copy the system32\config and system32\drivers folder after using the batch file. THen you can delete the new OS. BTW I'll simplify this process as soon as I find a suitable installer.

@soulin It was nice, only I didn't like all those dependencies on long file names and .NET 2.0. If they could just make it into one file, I'd include it in my Minimum XP project.
  3. Link please?
  4. Maybe you can get some more from the W2K Update Rollup? It's about to be release.
  5. Hope this helps: http://www.spam-blockers.com/SPAM-blacklists.htm
  6. I agree with the whole group idea. Maybe a member can request it from an admin, and depending on their case, the admin might grant permission or not.

@dirtwarrior I meant deleting every folder in the system32 directory except for those two. And for the rest of the crowd, here's the batch file I promised you (rename the .txt extension to .bat): required.txt
  8. Is it illegal to use it on a non-Windows XPE? After all, using it turns off WPA.
  9. There should be a Shell Extension DLL file (such as rarext.dll in your WinRAR programs directory) that you can ResHack. Delete the context menu icon from the file.
  10. Not exactly. An example of this is Starcraft and Warcraft. Both games are pretty much the most played RTS games of all times. Every other RTS game out there pretty much copy how those two games are played. If you were to introduce a new way to play a specific genre, it won't be readily accepted by the gaming community, if at all. That's mostly why many developers don't stray too far from the standards, it's just too risky to their business.
  11. Not really a shell replacement, but I was thinking of Microsoft Shell?

Turns out that there's some sort of editing time limit. Still waiting for a reply to see if I can get some sort of exception for this.
  13. Any way that I can edit my first post here?: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=47480

Thank you. I take it that you were smart enough to not delete your GFX card drivers? If you didn't, maybe you can post a picture of your install. I don't have mine installed. @gdogg The purpose of this project is to create a minimum install that you can build from. If you want DirectX and OpenGL, download the installer for DX and copy the OpenGL files from your CD. @DirtWarrior Batch file is ready, just need to be able to edit my first post. Read first post for instructions.

I'll post mine as soon as I figure out what's with the edit button on my first post. There's no need for the SFCDisable entry, that was a test entry. And im using Server 2003 SP1 files, which are free.

I'm not too sure on either of them since Windows XP does ship with 10,000+ components...But the obvious remaining ones are: -Minlogon -Windows Shell -TCP\IP -DCOM -Task Manager -DHCP Service -Kernel -Visual C/C++ Runtimes -WinSock -Notepad -ODBC -OLE -RPC -Side by Side
  17. Next time post it here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=47480 I would say no, but since I haven't tried it before, I can't be sure. Most likely not, way too many setup files were removed.

    Oops! Fixing it.
  19. Sounds pretty cool. Might include it in my secure Windows install .
  20. Link from Microsoft site has been taken down. Does anyone know of a mirror where I can download it?

    BETA testing

Tested Microsoft Shell and hoping to test OneCare.
  23. This will connect to the internet only with a third-party browser. And BTW, the install only uses 20MB of RAM. As for screenshots, there's not much to show except for a 16-color desktop and task manager, all that it's capable of as of now. :/ Anyway, I'm starting a new topic so I can outline my goals on the first post; can't edit my first post for this topic for some reason .
  24. This is enough for now...Enjoy! (System32 files only) required.txt mininstall.reg
  25. I think Microsoft has finally made it! My bet is zero patches.
