Hybrid OS sums it up, but I'm not actually taking files out of Longhorn, but features (if it still has any features at all). Feel free to start submitting feature requests. Just make sure they're OS-related.

Delete the partition, then edit the boot.ini file. Delete the whole line that says Longhorn on it. If the default entry is set to Longhorn, change it to XP.

I'm assuming yes. The site I took the image from said that the interface was based off of Office 2003.

I do disapprove of digitalfrost not asking for permission for some software, but he made the installer, and I have absolutely no control over it, so ask him.

Although it never really helped me remove any files, that site did inspire me to start this project. Future unlisted goals: Remove exe's and dll's debug info, compiler version info, and lots of other PE-related junk, find alternative system executables similar to minlogon, and take useful Longhorn features!

Maybe this project is better described as ALPHA. And there is no SFC support in this!

I don't get why everyone's already rating a BETA OS.

I dunno how to break the bad news, but...it has been very stressful to keep this project up with the demands of the forums and I have lost some motivation, so for now I'm taking err...a "break" from this project.

Quite a while since I now have to learn a completely new format . But the good news is that I'm working on reducing the files even further. Thus far, I have achieved a 25MB (69 files, 46 DLL's, 10 EXE's, 11 other files) system32 directory excluding folders. Just curious, how many people actually got this project working?

Screenshot up!!!!! As the screenshot shows, I found that the file list currently up will not allow any colors beyond those found in the screenshot. Currently working on a fix . I'm still debating whether an alternate file system will provide better performance or not.

Definitely! Lower memory usage, lower disk space, faster, and no need to logon and remember passwords. Still have my BIOS startup password though.

I'm changing the installer so that it removes files from the XP CD. Way easier that way... Just don't get this confused with nLite or anything...

That's about it . Although you don't need nLite to do this.
