  1. I had the same problem trying to get rid of that US language option & to just keep UK. here is how i did it. setup $OEM$ folders on an XP CD.. see here for details http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/18/ once you have set these up create a txt file called cmdlines.txt & put this information in it. [COMMANDS] "regedit /s keyboard.reg" put this file in the $OEM$ directory now creat a file called keyboard.reg & put the following in it. REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload] "2"=- add this file also to $OEM$ At 12mins to go during the xp install it will remove the reg key from the default user profile removing the US option. have fun.
  2. I have the anser to this as i had the same problem when installng UK English US still remained as secondary option. i got some pointers from this forum & after some investigation myself I found a fix. Basicallyyou need to remove a reg key from the default user profile during installation. here is full details. in a cmdlines.txt file I have got :- [COMMANDS] "regedit /s keyboard.reg" this file sits in the $OEM$ directory. Also in this directory on my XP CD I have the reg file keyboard.reg this contains the string to delete. REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload] "2"=- Basically at 12 mins to go on the install the cmdlines.txt is passed (run) this links to my reg file which removes the key to get rid of US. Anyuser that logs on after the install will be US keyboard free. Yipppeee. I hope this helps.
  3. UNC paths do work as long as you quote the path as spaces in a directory name will cause it not to run. see my previous string I posted as an example. this works fine for me& so do all my other UNC Path commands
  4. I Copied the line from that last window & stuck it in a batch file to run. I only modifed to put correct paths to exe & mst files.. "\\server\it$\Software\Office\Office 2003\CD1\setup.exe" TRANSFORMS="\\server\it$\Software\Office\Office 2003\cd1\New Custom Setup File.MST" /qb-
  5. thanks. this command wont effect my initial install with the mst will it????? REINSTALLMODE=vomu Triggers the recache and reinstallation on the client computer. Just looked in my batch file & I already have that command.. REINSTALL=All REINSTALLMODE=vomus /qb+ SHORTFILENAMES=1 back to square 1 anyone more Ideas? Anyone...
  6. Hi Guys, Right, i have an administrative install of office 2003 which has SP1 + some updates on. i have applied the full SP2 to this install lovcation. when I run a client reinstall from this source now to update it I get an Error 1935. How can I get round this so my reinstall=all updates the clients without a problem. i have trued a fresh install source & applied SP2 & redownloaded sp2 incase it was a bady copy but still get the problem. If I do a fresh install from the install source with SP2 it installs fine. Just wont update an exisitng client. office_2003_error.bmp
  7. Any files you put in the $OEM$ folder or sub folders will be copied to PC during installation. I have some files I want copied during my install to the PC I have located in $oem$ & its subfolder $1 & it copies these files to C:\ & C:\Windows. make sure your OemPreinstall=yes in winnt.sif is set to Yes otherwise it wont copy the files.
  8. havent gone to sp2 as it effects to many aplications we currently tun at my work due to firewall etc. SP1A + updates is fine for now.. not worth going for SP2 might aswell wait for SP3.
  9. I have the following list of updates that are to be installed after XP SP1a. Can i get away with doing this lot in 1 go in svcpack.inf? Also on msfn unattended it says to put the files in numerical order. Wouldnt it be better to install them in the order they are installed from WU site.? 15. Right, i have 5 administrative installs of office 2003 3 of which I upgraded to SP2 from SP1+ updates. The admin install upgrade to SP2 went ok. When I now do a reinstall on a PC with the sp1+ updates it gets half way through & reports "error 1935 an error occured during the assembly of a component". if I remove office completley & do a clean install it installs fine. Why wont the reinstall, install ok & what can I do to resolve the reinstall 1935 error.? I have search the web for this error in office 2003 but it dosent apear any one else has had this issue yet with a client reinstall.
  16. Hi Guys I need your help. can you give me the command line to remove all office XP products. The problem stems with this which you may also be able to help. Some PC's at my work currently have office 2000 & frontpage XP installed. When I do an upgrade with my MST file & admin install of office 2003 it falls over through the upgrade. Office 2000 is removed & Office 2003 Info path & other office 2003 tools are installed but other 2003 products like word, excel Access & outlook dont install. This only happens on machines with frontpage Xp installed on. The MST file does not have a bt to remove previous versons of frontpage & thus it falls over as it cannot install office 2003 version as xp version still exists. does any one have a solution or at least script to remove office XP products so i can run this before hand. cheers

  18. ok. i have fixed the problem for the user which is logged in with this [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartPage] "Favorites"=hex:00,16,00,00,00,14,00,1f,80,f5,a1,59,25,d7,21,d4,11,bd,af,00,c0,\ 4f,60,b9,f0,00,00,00,16,00,00,00,14,00,1f,80,f4,a1,59,25,d7,21,d4,11,bd,af,\ 00,c0,4f,60,b9,f0,00,00,ff "FavoritesChanges"=dword:00000007 I got to this by doing a reg compare before & after, manually setting & removing reg parts slowly to find what effected the change. problem i now have is getting this to work for the default user profile so all new users will get the change. whaere in the registry does the default user section resdie.? I thought it was HKusers\.Default\ but that didnt work adding to there.
  19. thanks for your assistance guys but im still not getting it. Yzowl, there is 3 mail clients listed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail outlook outlook express hotmail there is no straight directory below called defaulticon but its in \Protocols\mailto\DefaultIcon under all 3 mail clients. all these are set but not one is actually the default one to set for what you want displayed. the problem is a HKCU problem as I can manually set mine but when another user logs in they get the old icon till they set manually. any ideas?

  23. OK, i have a admin Xp share on my network & relivent winnt.sif file located in the i386 directory. What is my best option to boot up on a PC to get this install running.? ive looked so far at http://www.netbootdisk.com/building.htm but have had problems connectiong to network as it dosent run the password menus as showed in screenshots area. i have looked at BartPE as a CD boot option would be better but it takes alot of setup when I want to run the install automatically. has anyone got an idea/software/boot disk I could use which is straightforward to get the install command run with little if no interation? preferably from CD boot but not essential.
