Guys I usually go onto my websites and download a few files, but lately everytime i go i get an error message saying im already downloading (when im not). So i usually restart the computer/router to get another IP address and still says im downloading something. After tracking down the IP address i found its to do with 212.134.155.211. I searched who it is and links me to http://www.ripe.net/db/news/abuse-proposal-20050331.html - but none of it makes sense and i cant do anything about it. Anyone know what i can or why this is happening? thx

What ports need opening on domain server?
Bad boy Warrior replied to Bad boy Warrior's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Ok i gave it a go over this week and a bit to see if i could resolve this darn issue and still no luck. Is there something you can direct me to read on about knowing what ports i need open? I tried a few tools but none of them worked. Any help in identifying what ports i need open or a program to help me or even an article to read to get the understanding of this would be helpful.. Thx -
What ports need opening on domain server?
Bad boy Warrior replied to Bad boy Warrior's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Thanks. Ive added ports 135, 136, 137 and 445 for both UDP and TCP. I forgot to mention that i already had checked those two articles and have created the registry keys. I still have the same problem where the users cant logon so ill tell you what i have setup incase it needs addidtional ports opened: When a user logs on their profile is copied from the server onto their local drive which is mapped automatically. The start menu is copied from the server too so only the items we have applied are shown. I cant ping the server which i guess is due to the port being closed (if thats of any use). Anything else i can try? Thx again -

The jpeg should explain (hopefully) my settings and where ive went wrong - anyone know why or what setting i need to adjust? Also what is localsubset? how can i find out my locall subset? i think its 255.255.255.0...... Thx -
When a user logs off it always seems to synchronise with the server for offline files etc before it logs off or even shuts down etc. How can i disable this or stop it from happening rather than doing this machine by machine. Im not entirely sure which policy to configure if there is one for this? Thx

Guys I have a domain using the windows firewall (2003 SP1) as soon as i turn on the forewall everything is slow and users cannot login correctly until i disable the FW so what ports require to be open for all this to bypass? Thx

Guys I installed VS 2005 (trial) on two seperate PCs to see what they were like performance wise using a operating system on the server. Both using the same .VHD file (as in the operating system) at the same location. One runs fine the other comes up with the follwing error when i try to Create a virtual disk - "The virtual hard disk could not be created. The item "\\Server\XP\Windows XP SP2.vhd" cannot be used because you do not have sufficient access rights." I have access to this folder as the same folder has the same settings on and is used on the first pc with same secuirty rights etc (running as an admin) but the second machine has the error constantly. I recreated another folder and again 1st pc is fine in creating a virtual disk but the 2nd is bringing up the above error. I can access the folder using Network Places. So i reinstalled the operating system and guess what? same problem - event logs dont mention anything. I have created another VHD file on the network and still cant access it (with full security rights) Copied it locally onto the hard drive and it works (but i need it to be working from the network share) So im lost to what i can do next as ive run out of ideas. Thanks for any help in advance.

Iritating problem with MS anti spyware
Bad boy Warrior replied to Bad boy Warrior's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Before anything i reinstalled the anti spyware again and it resolved the issue on all pcs - must have been something corrupt with it. thought to let you know just incase anyone gets this problem -
Ive disabled access to the C drive and created a batch file to copy certain files from the C drive to our server when a user logs on - the file is saved under Netlogon folder and the link into the users profile page but it never seems to copy anything over - i thought this way should work even if you have c drive disabled from users? so can someone tell me how to do this please? thx

I have a Pc joined to a domain. the pc itself has the latest beta of MS anti spyware (ok i know its beta but still..............) when a user logs in they always get asked if they wish to have the folders redirected to the server (as weve redirected all folders) but i dont want the spyware utility to ask this - ive saved the option logged in as admin then saved it and then made the user into an admin and still it keeps asking when they logon. is there a way around where i can save this option without it keeping asking me? thx
