I installed from CD. This CD I build, via Nlite 1.4.9.3 and integrate there the Iastor.sys driver from the website https://www.win-raid.com I noticed some strange behavior during install via USB and firadisk. So, classic method with CD is best to install XP using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard Dietmar AHCI32bit.rar

Hi, I get all running on asrock fatal1ty z370 gaming k6. Acpi, sound, nvme, lan, video with Nvidia card gtx 980, USB 3.1 there are drivers for XP 32 bit for this board. 64 bit XP I have not tested. Celeron, i8700k, 9900k work there with XP. Very stable, I think the newest, best you can get for small money and XP Dietmar

Hi all, does somebody know, what to do with Hal.dll for Acpi multiprocessor, to force Windows XP to use the internal clock CPU TSC? This means to stop by brute:)) force the PM timer. I think HPET timer never works in XP. With the Bios mod for Acpi, I get crazy results for the timer with WinTimerTester_1.1, have a nice evening Dietmar

This means, that the Noctua NH-D15 cooler is very good. I ordered the same one. For to enable ASMEDIA ASM3142, you have to put all the USB*.sys drivers in folder Windows\system32\drivers. I chose them from XP SP1 but I think other works also. The USB driver can be USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v1.16.41.3, but the newest version also works, Dietmar

Hi deSSy2724, I downloaded p95v294b7.win32 from https://www.mersenne.org/download/ and run "Just stress test" without any modification on all 8 cores (blend, tests of everything..) on brandnew Intel 9900k on ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6, Corsair 3200 MHZ, nothing overclocked, have a nice evening Dietmar

Waaoh, I just find a BIOS with ACPI support for XP for Asus Apex X. https://community.hwbot.org/topic/174849-rog-maximus-x-apex/?page=2 So, it can be done and I am curious how they reached it. I saw a dxe file with name ACPI in it. So I can compare original Bios ROG-MAXIMUS-X-APEX-ASUS-1704.CAP and for XP modded Bios ROG-MAXIMUS-X-APEX-ASUS-1704_mod3.CAP Interesting, what they change and how to come to this ideas Dietmar

Hi, the temperature with 100% load on all 8 cores does not exceed 64 degree Celsius during 30 min prime95 on this 9900k under XP with an very carefull installed, boxed Intel air cooler. The temperature with the same cooler reach 100 degree on 8700k under the same conditions with XP. So, Intel did a good job with soldering the heat spreader Dietmar

Hi all, in next days I get a CH341A Bios flash programer. After reading a lot about modding Bios, I think it is also possible, to bring full ACPI support back to XP. The fatal1ty z370 gaming k6 motherboard has the MX25L12873F Bios chip and also a second Bios chip, if something bad happens during flash. The Asrock motherboards have the best Bios support of all motherboards I think, and because of this it is exact the right test object have a nice evening Dietmar @dencorso: It was also a hard beginning for me. Nothing works. But now, there is full bright light.

Hi all, I just install XP SP3 on a Asrock fatal1ty z370 gaming k6 motherboard with 64 GB and 9900k cpu. Speed is amazing, about 30% faster than Win10. I did a long search on a motherboard for coffee lake and XP. I think, this board is the only one today, 15. November 2018, with works with XP in full. All works: ASMedia ASM3142 USB 3.1 with 300 Mbyte/s on Sandisk USB stick Samsung pro 970 nvme as boot medium for XP, sound Realtec lan Intel 211v Gafik Palit 980 GTX COM1 serial, have a nice day Dietmar

Hi all, I find out, WHY there is no nvme before win7 with the driver nvme.sys from openfabrics. It is because of missed function(s) in storport.sys from win2003. Interesting: When you change storport.sys in win7 against the storport.sys from win 2003 ON NEXT BOOT the nvme harddisk is gone. But this storport.sys from win2003 fullfills all dependencies and exakt the same dependencies as original storport.sys from win7. I think this means: All drivers, that work before in XP using storport.sys from win 2003, also work now in win7. But not vice versa, have a nice day Dietmar

Hi all, I compared the registry entries from XP before the install of nvme.sys and after. I noticed, that all the registry entries from nvme.inf have been build correct in registry for XP. Then I did the same for win7. Hm, very interesting, in win7 this nvme.sys is then then also connected in registry to the drive Toshiba RD400, but in XP not. The scsi driver nvme.sys and storport.sys build a driver pair. nvme belongs to hardware, storport to operating system. Can this simple be, that the storeport library, which functions build in the driver storport.sys to speak via nvme.sys to the hardware (RD400), which is sufficient for driving the hardware, does only know for the storport.sys from win7, that the entry in nvme.inf file PCI\CC_010802 belongs to Toshiba RD400? That would explain at once, why this driver nvme.sys does not work for XP, Server 2003, Vista. This would be not the fault of nvme.sys, but for the storport.sys because build from incomplete library. What do you think, have a nice day Dietmar PS: If I am right, is there a chance to update the library for storeport.sys from Win 2003? And, if not, can the needed entries build by hand in registry for RD400?

Hi, I tested my nvme.sys driver on an z97 Asus motherboard, where the Toshiba RD400 can be seen from Bios. I get there exakt the same error message with DebugView as before with Windbg on the other compi. So the error depends not on Bios. This nice Debug program from Sysinternal can be used on the same compi without virtual machine. Again I compared all dependencies from Win 7 and Xp. They are absolut identic via nvme.sys to storport.sys. New storport.sys from server 2003 is loaded in XP, nvme.sys not. But the ntkrnlpa.exe in Win7 works different from ntkrnlpa.exe in XP. But still all dependencies for nvme.sys in XP are fullfilled. I also tested, that may be some parameters from nvme.sys in registry work only for win7 but not in XP. This is not the reason, why nvme.sys is not loaded in XP have a nice day, Dietmar EDIT: kd> !devnode 0x8b121820 DevNode 0x8b121820 for PDO 0x8b121ac0 Parent 0x8b0e7828 Sibling 0000000000 Child 0000000000 InstancePath is "PCI\VEN_1B85&DEV_6018&SUBSYS_60181B85&REV_01\3&9d5f036&0&00E4" ServiceName is "nvme" State = DeviceNodeRemoved (0x312) Previous State = DeviceNodeStartCompletion (0x306) StateHistory[06] = DeviceNodeStartCompletion (0x306) StateHistory[05] = DeviceNodeAwaitingQueuedRemoval (0x30f) StateHistory[04] = DeviceNodeStartCompletion (0x306) StateHistory[03] = DeviceNodeResourcesAssigned (0x304) StateHistory[02] = DeviceNodeDriversAdded (0x303) StateHistory[01] = DeviceNodeInitialized (0x302) StateHistory[00] = DeviceNodeUninitialized (0x301) StateHistory[19] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[18] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[17] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[16] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[15] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[14] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[13] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[12] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[11] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[10] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[09] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[08] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[07] = Unknown State (0x0) Flags (0x00002030) DNF_ENUMERATED, DNF_IDS_QUERIED, DNF_HAS_PROBLEM Problem = CM_PROB_FAILED_START Failure Status 0000000000 And here the same with win7, where this nvme.sys works: 0: kd> !devnode 0x863e36d0 DevNode 0x863e36d0 for PDO 0x863e7030 Parent 0x863cf518 Sibling 0000000000 Child 0x864c28d8 InstancePath is "PCI\VEN_1B85&DEV_6018&SUBSYS_60181B85&REV_01\4&26fb55b0&0&00E4" ServiceName is "nvme" State = DeviceNodeStarted (0x308) Previous State = DeviceNodeEnumerateCompletion (0x30d) StateHistory[15] = DeviceNodeEnumerateCompletion (0x30d) StateHistory[14] = DeviceNodeEnumeratePending (0x30c) StateHistory[13] = DeviceNodeStarted (0x308) StateHistory[12] = DeviceNodeEnumerateCompletion (0x30d) StateHistory[11] = DeviceNodeEnumeratePending (0x30c) StateHistory[10] = DeviceNodeStarted (0x308) StateHistory[09] = DeviceNodeEnumerateCompletion (0x30d) StateHistory[08] = DeviceNodeEnumeratePending (0x30c) StateHistory[07] = DeviceNodeStarted (0x308) StateHistory[06] = DeviceNodeStartPostWork (0x307) StateHistory[05] = DeviceNodeStartCompletion (0x306) StateHistory[04] = DeviceNodeStartPending (0x305) StateHistory[03] = DeviceNodeResourcesAssigned (0x304) StateHistory[02] = DeviceNodeDriversAdded (0x303) StateHistory[01] = DeviceNodeInitialized (0x302) StateHistory[00] = DeviceNodeUninitialized (0x301) StateHistory[19] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[18] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[17] = Unknown State (0x0) StateHistory[16] = Unknown State (0x0) Flags (0x6c0000f0) DNF_ENUMERATED, DNF_IDS_QUERIED, DNF_HAS_BOOT_CONFIG, DNF_BOOT_CONFIG_RESERVED, DNF_NO_LOWER_DEVICE_FILTERS, DNF_NO_LOWER_CLASS_FILTERS, DNF_NO_UPPER_DEVICE_FILTERS, DNF_NO_UPPER_CLASS_FILTERS CapabilityFlags (0x00002000) WakeFromD3 EDIT: The most important seems to me, that the child process is not populated: XP: Parent 0x8b0e7828 Sibling 0000000000 Child 0000000000 Win7: Parent 0x863cf518 Sibling 0000000000 Child 0x864c28d8 This fits with the normal nvme.sys start, but fails during enumerate childs. Nice, XP starts from this RD400 via Bios drivers and lives long enough, so that the debugger can start. Because no good working nvme.sys on this RD400, it crashes. But now I catch via crash.dump XP in the moment, when the driver nvme.sys was still loaded. I have a good chance to see, why the openfabrics driver nvme.sys crashes on XP. But why? No error during compile. I am happy, if someone here has an idea, have a nice day Dietmar PS: With naked Win7 (very first version) this driver nvme.sys works fantastic. STORMINI: Access Range, VirtualAddr=0xB9D28000. Can this be, because the nvme Toshiba RD400 is not seen in Bios?

Hi all, I did some more tests with nvme.sys for Win2003 from Microsoft in 2012. nvme.sys is loaded and then direct loads storport.sys as you can see with bootlog enable. But still does not start, yellow questionmark in device manager. setupapi.log shows: Device not started: Device has problem: 0x0a: CM_PROB_FAILED_START. Any idea, Dietmar

Hi Dibya, I do not know, where I fetched this nvme.sys file from. I did an intensive search in December last year in Internet and have a lot of nvme.sys. Today I installed Win 2003 R2 on harddisk. The driver nvme.sys installed there without any problem. I connect a Toshiba nvme OCZ RD400, because I know, it fits with the universal nvme.sys driver as PCI\CC_010802. But then comes a message, that nvme.sys driver does not start (39). All looks nice in registry for the entry for this nvme.sys and storport.sys has started, I can see in bootlog.txt. No other dependency. I also changed storport.sys against the very last version for Win 2003, no difference. Now I am out of ideas^^ have a nice evening Dietmar

Hi all, USB 3.0 works, http://reboot.pro/topic/21784-usb-30-boot-xp-sp3/ have a nice day Dietmar PS: I try to enable nvme support and boot for xp. There is an universal nvme.sys driver from Microsoft for Windows 2003 32 bit (6.1.7600.16385). Via dependecy Walker you can see, that Windows 2003 server 32 bit is supported too. May be simple copying storport.sys to driver folder in xp will work.

Is there a list out from all the cpu, which are affected? I have i7-8700k. On Windows XP the Microsoft patch kb4056615 against meltdown and spectre on i7-8700k makes big problems, Dietmar

Hi all, on my USB 3.1 Stick formatted with NTFS after been connected to the compi with the new ntfs.sys file after kb4056615 I can not copy any file to this USB stick from another compi. I got a message "Diese Sicherheitskennung kann nicht als Besitzer des Objekts zugeordnet werden" [= "This security identifier cannot be assigned as the owner of the object."] Also, a file 75 GByte big I can not rescue from this USB3.1 stick. After copying may be 10 GByte, a message pulled up, that not enough resources I have on my system. But I have about 2000 Gbyte free space. !!!So, something went wrong with new ntfs.sys !!! Be very careful with this patch. After this bad experience I format this USB stick new with FAT32 and all the problems are gone, have a nice day Dietmar

Hi all, I have a brandnew compi with Asus Apex motherboard and z370 chipset. On this compi I installed on a SSD with a lot of work XP 32 pro SP3 with embedded POS 2009 hack for updates, boottime is about 5 sec:)). Also I have on this compi Win server 2003 SP2 32 bit, Win7 32 bit and win 10 RS2 64 bit. After todays update with KB4056615 with the exchange of ntoskrnl.exe my XP does not boot any longer. Ony a black screen with a blinking cursor can be seen. Via win7 I changed back ntoskrnl.exe to the old version. ONLY this gives me the possibility, to come via F8 to "abgesicherten Modus". From there I unistalled the 2 Packages from today, one with name KB4056615. Then I restart my compi with XP and all seems nice. About 3 sec later again I got this KB4056615 update. This times it installes during shutdown without problems and now my compi starts as normal, have a nice day Dietmar
