@burd Actually, your statement is incorrect. :dubbio:

The only time something becomes outdated and obsolete is when it no longer meets your needs and requirements. If you're doing heavy internet/high security/mission critical tasks, then for your needs, especially security, it's definitely outdated. However, if you only use it to play games and maybe some light internet browsing on trusted sites, then more than likely it suits your needs and is not obsolete. But I sure can't see upgrading to Windows 10 if your computer is nothing more than a huge, electronic typewriter.

Also, he's actually more than welcome to say that Windows XP is the best OS ever. That is his opinion. My opinion is Windows 2000 is the best OS ever. For my personal needs, the Windows NT 6.x line is just plain overkill and I feel it is overkill in general. Removed compatibility and supercharged system requirements is absolutely ridiculous. Windows 7 is basically Windows XP on steroids but with a lot of older features and compatibility removed.

Yes, you can say that Windows XP is the greatest OS ever. As I said above, that is your opinion and you're entitled to your opinion. My personal opinion is that Windows 10 is crap because it's trying way too hard to be a mobile style OS. I hate how Microsoft is trying to cash in on the much overly abused word in technology, apps. I can see they were going for a hybrid OS type deal but I think that's the wrong approach and they should be two separate things. For one thing, I can't stand change for the sake of change. Most of what Microsoft had, worked just fine. Things were easy to find. Now, the control panel is a mess. It's not very user friendly to previous Windows users. I think the flattened and dull Windows theme is disgusting and putrid and as I said, the OS is going through an identity crisis. It's trying to be Windows but at the same time it's trying to be a bit more like Mac and Linux combined as well as a mobile system. I do not like one size fits all schemes and that's what Windows 10 is trying to do. Some say it runs really fast. I say it depends on what you're running it on. I was working on a customer laptop that had a Celeron processor on it, but it was designed for Windows 8. They apparently took advantage of the free Windows 10 upgrade and to me, that thing ran slower than a snail. Even after I did routine maintenance on it, it ran slow and the processor was pushed quite hard many times. If you had all compatible drivers, I'm sure putting XP on the laptop would've been incredibly fast and usable.

I'm not quite sure what you mean that it's really outdated. Are you talking in terms of it being less secure? If you want to really get technical, even the latest versions of Windows are still based off of the original NT core which was released several decades ago. So maybe Windows 10 is still outdated because it's using an old core. I'm not sure how you can still call it Windows NT since it's not really new technology anymore but basically patches built upon patches. Maybe it's time for Microsoft to completely scrap all its old code and build a brand new OS from the ground up. :dubbio:A house built in the early 1900s is still a house from the 1900s even if you put it new flooring, give it a new paint job, put in new windows. You're improving it, but it's still old.
