Actually it would be easier to get Server 2003 and be done with it ...

    @burd

JFYI, the "I read somewhere" comes third, right after "dog ate my homework" and "the devil made me do it, officer" in my personal list of common excuses.

What makes you think that? :w00t:

GPT is only a (perverted) way to index volumes, a volume (intended as a contiguous extent on disk with a filesystem applied to it) is not dependent on the way it is indexed, whether it is read only or r/w depends on the filesystem driver (and to the specific setting for the volume).

Another thing is booting a pre-Windows 8 Windows OS from a GPT disk (that simply won't happen any soon without modifications to the involved bootloaders).

NO problem man nothing to say sorry .

do you wanna have my storport slip-streaming nlite addon ? I will post it over RyanVM

can i have some beta tester for my kernel extension ?

    Happy New year to ALL

Best of Luck to everyone loving and supporting XP.

    @Samuka

can you make usb 3.0 / 3.1 and UEFI bios work with XP?

It will very much help if some one can get GPT partition support from 2k3 to XP.

windows xp x64 only reads gpt format if im correct, should be not that tough to make it read and write?

    "Existed" doesn't mean "released".

For all we know it may have existed (or it may not) as x64 or as ia-64.

All we know for sure is that at a certain time the good MS guys were working on it, and the little news we have are about Itanium version, but we don't know if a Intel x64 was under development.

In any case today it would be largely pointless.

Your mouse works with 100s (= 1.6 min) delay, but all the rest, kbd and pendrives work OK, or does everything have a 1.6 min latency? And which mouse exactly (model and manufacturer) is your mouse?

    Logitech G602
    Pendrive doesnt get recognized
Mouse Huge Delay and makes vista haywire badly
Keyboard works perfectly fine after installation of drivers
    Headphones : Not Detected

Do that and the Intel ports will start working as USB 2.0, look around the BIOS and you'll sure find out how/where.

when i enable it,it doesnt work at all,but if i disable it,usbs run on the drivers and my keyboard works, even my mouse does with 100s delay, any other way?

Well, if cdob says that Intel xhci is not supported in Vista, that's it.

I knew for sure about XP, but evidently that extends to Vista. :(

As a generic rule of the thumb 1/2 to 2/3 of the readme.txt or however info coming from drivers packages and drivers sites is either wrong or obsolete (or both), so NEVER (and I do mean NEVER) trust them at face value.

Just in case, what I wanted to know was VID and PID, just 8086/A12F, you don't really need screenshots to provide this info (but of course you need to experiment and learn how to retrieve it :)).

Usually it is a good idea to use SIV:
    http://rh-software.com/

to have a detailed overview of all the hardware on a machine, but in your case for just THE VID and PID you just click in device manager on the "Details" tab, then on the dropdown list you choose "Hardware ID", *like*:

    Great!

    That's half the problem solved!
Now, do get yourself a MS Wireless Mobile Mouse (or even a corded MS Basic Mouse), for us to have a truly standard mouse to troubleshoot the other half, while using a proven standard and reliable hardware, please. :)

standard mouse doesnt work, but the wireless keyboard works

Try to also add this update for the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework and User-Mode Driver Framework. It ports Windows 8 functions to Vista, related to drivers: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/updt/2012/12/windows6.0-kb2761494-x64-mergedpkg_4f986add28318ed72dc950c89b0d1ef80e8d4319.msu

Maybe it will alleviate your problems.

I tried to install it,it says i dont have the correct O/S,is this file proper?

To give an update of the User share for XP and other OSes Here they are as of September of 2016. (at least according to netmarketshare ;) )

While I find that these statistics should be taken with a pinch of salt, there are some points of interest.

Netshare from August to September of 2016

    Windows 10: decreased 22.99% to 22.53%

    Windows 8.1: decreased 7.92% to 7.83%

    Windows 8: decreased 1.82% to 1.78%

    Windows 7: increased 47.25% to 48.25%

Windows XP: decreased 9.36% to 9.11%

    Windows 2000: decrease ~0.01% to ~0.01% (source)

Windows NT: increase 0.12% to 0.23% [interestingly reached a yearly high of 0.73% of OS market share during May(16)]

Windows Vista is missing in the list
