  1. I would like to test, but there are a few problems in the way: - I don't have XP drivers, even though my GPU is DX12 compatible (you've guessed it, it's AMD) - How will people be able to test DX12, when all XP drivers are made with DX9 in mind? Do you plan on making Windows 10 WDDM 2.0 drivers work on XP? Just a few thoughts...
  2. Yes, you can install media capabilities as a separate update: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48231 The license should activate anywhere, aslong as it matches the Windows version you have. As for changing the language, aslong as its Windows 10 Pro, you will be able to change the OS language. You don't need a Microsoft account to run Windows 10. You can do it with a local account. That way your kid won't be able to install apps from the Store. There's also built-in parental controls if you need them. Hope this answers your questions
  3. It's a shame the new drivers don't work on Windows Vista. I have a R9 380, and the only drivers that work are the 15.7 and up. I guess I'm limited to Windows 7 and up.
  4. You sure you are on the right place , this is MSFN , MSDN is here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/ jaclaz Ups, first post in the forum and I screw up like that
  5. Hello people from MSFN. I'm relatively new here, but I am enjoying all the knowledge the flows through here. Now, here's the thing. I plan on installing Windows 8.1, seeing that Windows 10 doesn't offer any advantage to me, in comparision to the former OS, and I want to tweak 8.1 to have as very little Metro bul***** as possible, aswell as keep the Services running in the background to a minimum. Any advice to create a clean Windows 8.1 system? Also, I have another problem with Windows 8.1. I'm a gamer , and I usually play old games, like Kega Fusion, Winquake, Doom on Dosbox, amongst others, and one thing that I noticed about 8.1, is that DirectDraw compatibility is broken, in the sense that games in fullscreen only run at about 33FPS, and some objects don't display correctly, like the last boss from Episode 1 in Quake. I found the following tweaks, but I'm not sure if they will fix the issues: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers]"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\YourGame\\GameExecutable.exe"="$ DWM8And16BitMitigation Layer_ForceDirectDrawEmulation"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\<NameOfGame>]"Flags"=hex:00,08,00,00"ID"=hex:00,00,00,00 ;replace ID with game ID on [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw\Compatibility\MostRecentApplication]"Name"="game.exe"Funny enough, Windows 10 doesn't have these issues, and runs Quake in Software Mode just fine, at 60FPS. So do you think these Registry Tweaks will solve my issue? Any other ones that I need to be aware of? EDIT: Corrected an error, as noted by jaclaz
  6. Has anyone tested the new AMD Crimson on Vista x64? I saw a NT 6.0 reference in the INF files of the Windows 7 version, so it should work, right? Also, since they dropped NET Framework, maybe it will have less Windows dependencies and work on Vista?!?
