At good old XP WMP - you needed to register an dll file to playback DVD´s - maybe this file help in 10 too ? Good luck...

You maybe have NTFS File Permission Flags on your files (WPI, Exe, or both) ? - If yes, try copy them to a Fat32 filesystem to get rid of it... Or: Run WPI.htm with mshta.exe and Admin rights

thx What you forget, is the energy that's needed for create new Hardware... Don't think, I am running very old systems... - I don't... - I have Phenom II X6 1055T, with an 80%+ Gold Power Core running with one of the most Energy Efficient GPU´s on the World - the HD7700 (which gives in theorie 22 GFlops/Watt - in real its poorly slower than my old HD4770 that I got before - I cry crocodile tears because of that...) - I although got 2 SSD´s a 60GB (which already don't work so good anymore) and a 250 GB SSD which will be untouched as long, as I am don't have a OS in a State, where it does less writing on it... (reading doesn´t matter, this drive should not share his destiny with the 60GB one) What you maybe don't know, is: that a Ramdisk (very cool if you have much memory) - is 100 times faster than a SSD (that's one of the reasons why I wish that MS gives me the Option to make a native 24GB Hybriddrive (12GB Ram, 12 GB SSD) Time & Speed is a relative thing, and when you do some 3D Stuff, - you always need to force down, your renderoptions as much as possible - cause, if you wanna make a short animation - you don't like to wait 3 days for every single frame - sometimes I break it, when I see, that my system just finished 2% of a Pic after hours... - that´s the second reason, why I like to get a OS, that using less resources as possible - what means indeed that the 3 days will shrink to 2,5 days! Sometimes 0,5 days make a big difference in life - maybe its now my reasons are a littlebit more clear for you... Hey, common the amount of UTF-8 files at all is probably bigger than the amount of other Pages Some files on the XP.Iso are already in different Code Pages, so I thought it is a good Idea to unify them (before converting the whitespaces - if I don't did this before - MHZ´s Script will maybe not work right on Tabs or Spaces from some files...Now, I tested a batch file with all kinds of codepages... - and you're right, just 3 of them worked 100% at this single test (Ansi, UTF-8(without BOM), and Unicode) But Slim down the Size of XP - without deleting Files, is not Impossible ! nah its ok, youre right... i just get often confused from all that "special" charaters in scripts - i am able to do some little things - but i really have problems when i need to make a "concept" and how to use it... - i understand 80% of what you have done there, but wouldnt be able to get it myself from "zero"... - mostly i modify script examples and copy them together, to get my target... - i already have somthing like a similar gui i maybe can use for it (me and someone else did write a autoit script for batchmod (its a script itself for reshacker) to change the resource files from a extracted XP Iso to slipstream a resource packs like FlyAKite,... - but we never finished it... - i think i allready post that here "somewhere" - think this was on some older usernames R2-D2, or D5D4 or something similar, where i have forget pw and used email ) I will try your "MasterCode" for all that files next days... I prefer to play the Windows Version (16 Bit.exe !?) - with dosbox there was a problem (cant remember right now...) - but the problem i haved was just with the resolution - cause you cant run 640x480 and 800x600 ? - Sounds stupid - if i think about - but i really wasnt able to force it to run in any way... or to fix that resolution error... - and than my OS was broken the third time (cause of an Update) - and than i stopped.. - ms will never listen to their users on a way users would like...

@NoelC About what Software we speak here ? - Most "Payware" is like this that its made for the OS thats out now, and in the future (24 Month) - you mostly have to buy an Update for it ? - Take a look at Photoshop PS2... - ok, its for free since several month - but Adobe gives you an explizit warning that this software is written for Windows XP - and that you can get errors - by using it on Vista/7/8/10... Yesterday, i did an Windows Update (there was 3 Updates, one for my LAN, one for a MS Keyboard (i plugged it in 3 day ago, just 1 min for testing...), and a third one, - think it was for the Realtek Sound... - This Updates brokes my whole windows, when i turn the PC off, - it tooks really long, than the message: there was a problem, and today its dead... - i allready killed it three times now, and thats enough ! I dont believe that MS can fix all bugs until summer... - so what did this mean ? - It means: MS try to sell a broken buggy OS aggain, - and i dont appreciate that ! Its boring and frusttrating ! So what can i do now ? - I could test Linux, E-Comstation (OS2), but i allready know that my progs dont work on it... I would stay on XP, but my Hardwarecompanys (like AMD) drop their driver support for it - so i have just one single s***ty working driver for my desktop gpu... Maybe i can use Windows 7 a bit (until Support Drops) - to wait for ReactOS, - or i sell my PC´s and buy a Mac... - or i try to get a Windows Server 2003 Version (maybe thats the best option i have, cause 10 sucks, and MS dont listen to their users, as they promise before !!!)

I am sure my friend - i have tested more than 50 AMD Driver Versions (even selfmodded and mixed, on XP and Windows 7), on 4 Generations of cards... here one example - wait: i am wrong - sorry - it depends on the energy profile and screen resolution too...

The Graphic Speed (2D & 3D) - belongs to the Graphic Driver (Amd/Nvidia/Intel) - with every driver version some detailed stuff in 3D and 2D get slower, and other faster, sometimes, just slower.... this is: cause the Companys (particularly AMD) tune their drivers always for their newest product, and dont care for the older one anymore ! Its not their target, to make drivers for all cards, without bugs, and with a good overall performance... - it is the same stuff with OpenGL, - my old HD4770 got more performance in OpenGL & 2D than my actual HD7790 - cause AMD decide to drop down the OpenGL Performance by 75% in their customer productline... - before some years it was just dropped by 50%....

Hey, because the MS Firewall sucks in Standard Mode, i try to make a better rules set... This set blocks Everything - that wanna call in, or out, - if you wanna allow a Prog, to connect to the Internet - you have to allow every File that a Prog need to be Connected: Example: Firefox: you have to make a rule for Firefox.exe and PluginContainer.exe first... Opera: you have to allow OperaLauncher and Opera.exe (with every Update from Opera you need to reconfig, cause the path has changed... What is allowed now ? (Call Out Only) DNS, DHCP, Windows Update, Opera 28 Whats forbidden ? Everything, thats not allowed ! Some extra Protocol's like IGMP, ICMP, and some Ports from TCP and UDP get an Extra Block - so they are forbidden even for allowed Progs) - Some Programs Windows feature Rules-set are Disabled in a Test-mode (means, when you activate them, not all of them working now - if someone find the mistakes in the Test-rules (i think most of them - like feedback, just don't work, cause i need a rule for the windows online account sign in) - would be nice, if someone can fix it...
