AMD APU graphics drivers for Windows 2000?
tramtrist replied to AnX's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
BWC you're the best! I loaded up the new drivers on my A6-6400K and they worked great! I can finally use this system the way I intended with Win2k and without an NVIDIA card ほんとにどうもありがとうございました!! -
AMD APU graphics drivers for Windows 2000?
tramtrist replied to AnX's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Has anyone tried the new BWC AMD driver he posted in November for this problem? I'm looking at you Phenomic and ANX http://w2k.flxsrv.org/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?file=amd1304w2k.cab -
After reading through a few threads I'm wondering if the AHCI drier isnt the culprit http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/150751-big-problem-with-blackwingcats-ahci-drivers-for-amd/ @tomasz86 what was your solution to it?

It seems I do not have advanced power management enabled in my windows 2000 install on my FM2 board (fm2a75m-itx r2.0). The APM tab missing. I cannot shut down or reboot the system and it will not go to sleep. Is it simply not possible to get it installed on that kind of board? It also runs at full speed all the time and there doesnt seem to be an 15f processor compatible k10ctl utility available. What am I to do? I am almost to the point of selling the board/chip and getting a new comporable intel board. What do you guys think?

tramtrist replied to AnX's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4

AMD APU graphics drivers for Windows 2000?
tramtrist replied to AnX's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
If you're not planning to do any 3D accel or play any games you can use the universal svga driver Here Sucks but at least you can get out of 640x480.. -
AMD APU graphics drivers for Windows 2000?
tramtrist replied to AnX's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
This is the same issue I have. The APU is not supported under any driver. A6-6400k here. HD8470D As these processors merge with GPUs we're going to have a lot less win2k choices if there is never a driver available -
I'm still crying myself to sleep every night I shutdown my new PC with win7 on it... QQ

the last tweet i got from BWC was AMD XP Driver is initialized Driver structure with size 0x54 bytes but Windows 2000 use 0x50 so the driver fail to initialize so maybe there is hope.. but who knows really
-
Well looks like I'll be running win7 until this AMD driver magically starts working .. That and Mint as an Android dev box. I wanted this to be an HTPC size low power (under 160W) desktop. Can't really do that with an extra video card and an AMD APU which isnt fully used ;p Heart broken but I will keep on
-
Help us Blackwingcat! You're our only hope.

I sent BWC a few messages over the last couple days. I've been stalking him since I know he's one of the only people out there who can fix a driver (outside of AMD of course) I saw the latest beta drives from AMD didnt support XP anymore. If they phase out XP support as MS is doing what will we do when we need a new driver and hacking up an INF from Xp isnt available anymore... Looks like we may be stuck with legacy support only for a little while longer...
-
So I disabled PAE and reinstalled both BWC and the XP drivers but still have not got it working yet. I've got to be doing something wrong unless this new APU simply isnt supported by the XP driver yet... Going to be kind of a waste if I have to use a seperate video card when I bought the APU to utilize the built in video ;p oh well I'll keep trying
-
Yes on PAE. Actually I've tried enabling and disabling it to see what's up. The VESA/VBE universal SVGA driver is working ;p Should I try turning off PAE and reloading the drivers?
-
Yep BWC latest kernel and your latest uurollup daily (from June) I made sure I got the latest versions of both.
-
Well I'm stumped. I can install BWC drivers with no exclamation mark as 7000 series and even the catalyst 8470 driver with no exclamation mark but the display doesnt get any better. Still 640x480. I even hacked up with win7 driver on a whim and it detected the 8470D as the correct driver but it wont load after install (exclamation mark there) Kind of at a loss
-
installation went flawlessly. I cannot get any drivers to work for video however.. I've got everything else up except video. I've tried the stock AMD XP driver as well as Blackwingcat's driver (my card isnt listed so I forced some other ATI driver down its throat) but nothing is working yet... Will keep on trying... Any help appreciated. A6-6400K HD8000 series

Thank you Phenomic. Will do. I have used k10ctl before as well. Processor came today.. still waiting on the board. 4GB memory in hand. Should have pretty quick results as a I have a hard drive with win2k setup and dos ready to go.
-
I've used Brazostweaker before. Is that the same codebase as k10stat or completely separate?
-
Asrock FM2A75M-ITX R2.0 procured Will give any feedback I have when I have it
-
Thanks tomasz. I have used K10stat before on my netbook and it runs great. I'll shoot for an AMD FM2 board and see where I get with it.
-
I have been running win2k on various (old) systems for a while. I'm considering building an ITX desktop and am wondering which chip(chipsets) you would all recommend starting out with. I'm highly considering an AMD FM2 board or intel 1155. Anyone have experience on a newer board?

ANX.. that would explain why i could never get my ao722 on anything other than "standard pc" without dual core.. if i didnt hit f5 and select it the install would never complete. I guess that's just the way it is....
