Would like to see XP(or God willing 2k) running on an XPS13 ... those skylake drivers may just do it... Looking forward to these updates

Any new news here? This was/is a pretty hillarious thread...

As always .. THANK YOU BWC! Chrome 31 is working fine.. I only hope the extensions stay supported for a while.. I also had to mess around with it to stop it from updating but I think I've got it now...

Help with Onboard Sound failures WIN2k UUR
tramtrist replied to UberGeek451's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Uber, This helped me today. I'm glad I'm not the only person with this problem! -
Is anyone else having the problem of chrome freezing after 1 minute on win2k? I used BWC's chrome2k 7.0 and no matter how I start chrome it freezes after 1 minute every time

Thanks Nostalgic. Will check out RMClock

Should I assume speedstep is being handled by win2k on a Dell D630? Should I disable it or is there a mysterious hidden Dell speedstep driver out there which I'm not aware of? Thanks as always for any help
-
@blackwingcat Possibly from next year I will live in Japan. At that time I might try to find such a PC.. until then I might refit a d630 and underclock it..

Thanks all for the replies. I was thinking of something that was released in the last year or 2. I have D630s which can run win2k flawlessly but they get hot/screens tend to die/can run loud. Basically any fanless laptop thats been released over the last few years will do .. I'll keep shopping around

Curious if anyone has any recommendations on purchasing a cheap laptop around 8-11 inch or so which can run win2k. Looking for something under 200. Plenty of x86 Windows tablets out there but those are primarily Win8 only for obvious reasons

Guide to Installing and Updating Windows 2000 Professional
tramtrist replied to ppgrainbow's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Running through this guide again I'm getting the "WUA.exe is not a valid win32 application" message. -
Did windows update stop working for win2k again? "Windows Update does not start in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows 2000" It makes me sad. I pulled the latest root certs but still no love.

BWC... Thank you I've been thinking of buying NUC for a long time but was afraid of 2000 compatibility. This is good information.

Awh. OK. I have ssh server you can use as Proxy if you like But thank you for your efforts. I will keep trying and maybe contact google directly
-
Thanks BWC. I was able to get that far before using the application compatibility tool. It is after I hit "Next" in your last screenshot and try to log in that I get the error. Do you have a gmail account? If so you can try too

That's very strange. I know you need .NET 3.5 to install it but not sure why you wouldnt be able to download it. Here is the link I uploaded https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_EY1lyiwavGbndRMUpOQzNZeXc/edit?usp=sharing

So I was able to completely install google play music manager on my win2k instance without any issue. The problem is I cannot log on through google service when I launch it. Has anyone else run into this? I get some kind error that says "could not securely save user information" I know the password is right as I can login to GMAIL just fine. The login works from other PCs as well Any ideas?

Thanks tomasz86 I'll check those articles out.

Is anyone out there (I know BWC is) running Win2k with SSDs? If so how does it perform given there is no native TRIM support. Is there any significant improvement in performance like I've seen in Windows 7 with an SSD? I'd like to get my Win2k Desktop running an SSD but am not sure it will be utilized efficiently.

You can add any FM2 motherboard with the A6-6400K processor to the list now that there are new AMD drivers courtesy of BWC I'm running it at my house. I would ASSUME that the A series processors all work...
