  1. No, but you need pages like the register, and other IT security websites, so that security risks are logged and explained in detail to those who use those products. Thats why IE is hated so much, its been mentioned on the Register god knows how many times IE security flaws have been logged on there. I can see your point though, but no - you shouldnt stop using that software as other software like your firewall should stop unwanted stuff contacting the net. Imagine if we didnt know about the viri out there, you would be contantly getting infected
  2. Thats why then, The motherboard is capable of 2 x , but the card is running at 1x but the Ti4600 is a 8x AGP hmm ill investigate further Edit: took a look around my driver screen, cant see how to change the AGP rate there, I know with ATi you can do that as my m8 has. Edit no2: I remember with my original drivers off my 6800GT's disk, im 90% sure they had an option in them to disable/enable Bus Addressing and also the AGP speed, but dont take my word for it, that was like 5 months ago near enough. Cant see this option in the 66.93 drivers i am using now
  3. Sorry but you seem to be missing the point, 1. Viruses when they get on your system can do some nasty stuff, fair enough your system can be cleaned and reformated etc, and there should be no harm to your hardware. But for the time that those viruses are on your computer they can steal and send information to other people who want to use that info malicously. Things even as legitimate game keys you have on your computer, stole and used to activate warez versions of games. 2. You should think the internet as being a driver on the road. First thing I was taught in my driving lessons was that im responsible for mine and others safety who also use the roads. Same with computers, those who do not keep protected, up to date and secure increase the spreading ability of viri, as we all know they duplicate themselves and send to to other etc, etc... As for waiting for a patch, how old is windows XP?? Its only just got its second major service pack which fixes things which should have been fixed ages ago , yeah there are the hotfixes - but still these dont come quick enough when you take into consideration the time it takes to catch the virus, identify the fix, code it and release it. Comes to something when a 3rd party app like firefox shows a multi billion turn over company how it should be done. Fair enough microsoft certainly doesnt have its fans, and is probably targeted more. But surely that means they should be extra vigelant? Firefox/ Opera just makes sence to use. I remember the rendering of FF in the 0.8 releases but 1.0 rendering is a whole lot faster
  4. He means his lappy battery, not the motherobards lithium one, although the mobo battery is charged by the computer while active. I would not recomend doing this if you do not know how to, but you need to get access to your motherboard while the laptop is COMPLETELY powered off, and there should be a jumper on there set to position 1 and 2, you need to take the jumper off and set it to 2 and 3, and wait a few mins. Then replace the jumper to its orginal position, and repower up. This clears the CMOS back to default settings. Like I said though, you can void your warrenty, so I would hand it into a IT repair firm, and if that fails you may have to get them to re flash the bios, as it could have come currupted.
  5. AGP Apeture size is just allocated RAM, which is used to store graphics onto when the onbaord graphics card memory becomes full. It should be in your bios somewhere, but I remember someone runing at 4x bus speed, opposed to 8 as they had stability problems with 8, and it didnt effect thier performance much at all. What is the AGP speed rated on the graphics card itselt? Go to your cards tab in Desktop->right click->properties, and it should say in there. Would image it being at least 2 if not 4x, but if it is 1x then the motherboard might just set itself in sync with that.
  6. I have done this for those drivers, Add me to msn, via my profile, i will guid you through it and will give you the winnt.sif which will just do that job, txtsetup.sif and also the drivers I use - as i know they work with the correct directory structure.
  7. Yup those are betas, there are 67.20's though, which are listed as WHQL on www.guru3d.com. Thanks for the info though! Will stick with 66.93 because like the .81's I have actually found them to be a good mixture of performance and reliability
  8. Several things: Nforce 5.10, the AudioUtil (think its called, cant tell as I am currently at college) folder has an exe in it I believe, but winrar cant seem to open it? How do I get the files from out of that exe? Also I tried this on 66.93, worked a treat, but when I tried the 70.02's it told me that one of the nvidea graphics .dll got stuck in an infinite loop Now the reason for this could be that aswell as updating my cd to 70.02's I added the registry coolbits tweak, maybe that effected it? Or does the .cmd code you pasted here not work for those drivers? It looked as if it did the trick on them when I ran it, but I cant think of anything else. Is thier any know problems with the coolbits regtweak and integrating graphics drivers that you know off?
  9. Dont ask me why but I got a feeling that adding: Unattendedswitch=Yes to the winnt.sif would work, I booted the cd using Virtual Pc first and it seems that it worked, but cant test for real - as forceware 70.02 gets stuck into a loop So thanks for everyones help
  10. $OEM$ and I386 are both in the root like they should be, like I said, my drivers and everything install , just not my reg tweaks @tguy, I think the blank line is just from me posting the code here, I am at college atm so cant check - but I appreciate your help and will also double check that this line does not infact exist at the top of the document. I was thinking it was maybe a line missing from my WINNT.SIF? I know cmdlines.txt does not need mentioning in the winnt.sif but maybe it is because I do not have unattendswitch=yes? or some other command in the winnt.sif? Thanks again
  11. Thanks or the help but what do you mean by: Is this a file? Where is it located?
  12. GDATA Antivirus kit, uses a double engine, and is very customisable - I love it and has brilliant detection and also fast too
  13. Ok, I got my cd working except it does not install my users nor my reg tweaks using the cmdlines.txt WINNT.SIF: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] FileSystem=* UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\LP_UB\Si3114r;drivers\000_GART;drivers\001_MemCtl;drivers\002_IDE;drivers\003_SMBus;drivers\004_AudioDrv;drivers\005_AudioUtl;drivers\006_USB;drivers\007_Display;drivers\008_Ethernet;drivers\009_graphics" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="<password>" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=85 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductKey=<product key> FullName=<name> OrgName="N/a" ComputerName=Bedcomp [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=75 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=44 AreaCode=01527 [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off hearts=off minesweeper=off pinball=off solitaire=off spider=off zonegames=off [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 SystemLocale=00000809 UserLocale=00000809 InputLocale=0809:00000809 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes Paths: D:\XPCD\$OEM$\cmdlines.txt D:\XPCD\$OEM$\useraccounts.cmd D:\XPCD\$OEM$\autologon.reg D:\XPCD\$OEM$regtweaks.reg cmdlines.txt: [COMMANDS] "useraccounts.cmd" "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" useraccounts.cmd: net user <user> <password> /add net localgroup Administrators <user> /add net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited REGEDIT /S autologon.reg EXIT autologon.reg: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="<user>" "DefaultPassword"="<password>" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" Obviously I wont poast the reg tweaks as its long, although I have edited it to my needs, like is recomended. So have I missed something? I didnt see no commands being executed during intstall and no of the users or tweaks were applied. Help much appreciated Mark
  14. Yes Alanoll, I read that post, but after , Ok, quick update: ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] FileSystem=* UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\LP_UB\Si3114r" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword="XXXX" EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=85 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductKey=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX FullName="Mark Hands" OrgName="N/a" ComputerName=Bedcomp [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=75 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=44 AreaCode=01527 [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 SystemLocale=00000809 UserLocale=00000809 InputLocale=0809:00000809 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes Installed Virtual PC, and it seemed to install fine on that havent tested on CD yet, as I have missed gaming to much but thank you all very much, now I am going to rest - and add my other drivers. Although this is not an error, nor neither bothering me - windows SP2 seems to remove the "Professional" writing from the XP loading screen. Just out of curiosity - why is that?
  15. @ Sandman, you have probably included some files, which are not needed - but we cant see which ones, so create a seperate thread - more people will see it that way and also describe fully what is in your drivers folder. To Xper , just to say a quick thankyou on the guide, I found it so easy to follow - and thought you deserved alot of praise as you have put in alot of effort to make the guide. which is also like I said, very clear and easy to follow. So thanks mate
  16. Ok ill try that, but I was just thinking Even though I have integrated the drivers, it still "is not" an unattended CD, as I have to still enter all the information myself. So if it was the drivers being non-WHQL, then I would still have to press "yes or no" when it tells me thet they are unsigned, like I would using my normal XP CD. So maybe im barking up the wrong tree?
  17. The error log I posted in my first post: 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Fatal Error 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,: 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Internal Setup data structures are corrupted (phase 0). 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,, *** 11/17/2004 21:10:52.140,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,GUI mode Setup has ended because of a fatal error. @ Astalavista WINNT.SIF [Unattended] OEMPreinstall=Yes OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\LP_UB\Si3114r" I dont think I have the other files, because I just want to create the SATA integrated Windows XP pro Sp2 CD. Computer Specs: AMD Athlon 2800 + 2 x 512 DDR 400 36 GIG WD Raptor Sata drive - in 2 Partitions, 1 to hold windows, other to hold installs 120 GIG Maxtor Sata drive - in 3 Partitions, Backup, Pagefile and 1 for random stuff. Geforce 6800GT 430w Hiper PSU DFI Lanparty Ultra B motherboard DVD drive CDrw drive Think thats all there is to list. Thanks for helping guys
  18. Hi, After 12 CD's wasted with me trying to make a slipstreamed CD - I still cant get the thing to work. For the time being , I am only doing the simplest of things, which is to just integrate my Sata drivers, which is successfull as It picks up my raptor HDD's no problem, and copies the files. The problem comes to the fact that when it restarts the computer, and then goes into windows setup after the reboot - I get an erro straight away. I virtually foobar'd all my current windows install, so I though sod it, ill format using my normal cd and press F6 to load drivers, and have another go at doing the cd when I get back up and running. but I noticed one thing, when it gets to the window setup - It tells me that that SATA drivers are not WHQL (not windows certified) - do you think this is the problem that causes the error I get when using my Slipstreamed Windows CD? So do I need to either find, and use some WHQL drivers - or is thier some kind of setting I need to add to a file, to tell windows to install non-WHQL drivers? 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Fatal Error 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,: 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Internal Setup data structures are corrupted (phase 0). 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,, *** 11/17/2004 21:10:52.140,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,GUI mode Setup has ended because of a fatal error. Many Thanks
  19. Yes but IP addresses are not always static are they? I think their intention is to get you to play! (not prevent) but they dont want people playing, who have not legally bought the game right?
  20. Nice one, but I cant see how they can single you out , unless you have to supply address' and stuff during install? Is HL going to have Punkbuster, or some othe anti cheat software which willnot enable those with fake/ duplicate keys to play? I hope so, thats why I always ran my sof2 server with guids being checked
  21. Download the service pack 2 power tools program, and this allows you to put in all of your regional settings and such, then it creates the winnt.sif (think its the file which holds the corresponding data) then use that file, or add what you have already done to your previous winnt.sif.
  22. Yup I done all that, double checked everything but still I get the error, I know I have done everything right because the drivers to load my Sata disks works, just when it gets into setup, it generates the same error. So you can slipstream over sp1?
  23. Well I hope its simple for you guys, but I keep getting the error I did before during the windows install, see my other thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=32541 I have since bought some more better quality CD's, but the error still remains. I have sat down and tried to logically think, what could be wrong and have come up with an idea In reference to this guide - http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html It says that SP2 cd's can not be integrated into ones with hotfixes on them already, now - my original XP install disk I am integrating sp2 into already has SP1 on it, do I need to delete the Sp1 files first? I do not get the integration error that is shown in the guide, so that is what is confusing me. If I do need to delete the Sp1 files, which ones are they that I need to delete? I did try a search on this, but nothing come up with my answer
  24. Ok, I managed to redo the CD, and this time it got past that part, but when it came to do the windows setup with the 39 min left blah blah blah, it came up with the following fatal error: 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Fatal Error 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,: 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,Internal Setup data structures are corrupted (phase 0). 11/17/2004 21:10:45.718,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,, *** 11/17/2004 21:10:52.140,d:\xpsprtm\base\ntsetup\syssetup\log.c,133,,GUI mode Setup has ended because of a fatal error.
