  1. Hey guys, Just a quick tip for beginners. I've been using SoF for a while without any problems but suddenly found that my bookmarks etc. were not being included in the install. After much ado, I discovered the reason for this was that I'd inadvertently deleted the Profiles directory out of my FireFox project directory. SoF has a small bug whereby it doesn't create the Profiles directory only copies the relevant files into it. So, if you don't have the Profiles directory (as given in the SoF.zip download) then you won't have your profile settings saved! (incidentally, SoF does create the Main directory so alls well there!).
  2. It sounds as if your installation is only for the current user rather than all users. That said, your Office version must be multi-licensed to support more than one version. Not having done this the best advice I can offer is to check your MST builder to see if there are any options to install for all users. Furthermore, check SETUP.HTM for information and search the web to see if there is information/help on install office for multiple users.
  3. @benners, Have you tried using Silence of the Foxes (SOF) to generate a silent switchless Firefox installer which includes all your themes and extensions? If not, I'd recommend it as it works very well. To grab it, do a search for SOF.
  4. Guys, Whilst I've been struggling with overcoming slipstreaming/update problems post Office2003 SP2, I discovered Office2003 will not install using the /qb- /qb /qb+ switches unless its a corporate license. So, if you've not got this, you can't run setup silently. If you want to check whether this is the error, run your setup line without the /qb- switch - if this is the error, you should now get an error message telling you don't have the right version. This still hasn't solved my inability to update Office2003 post SP2 but (*hopefully*) it will fix your office2003 installation issues. Your transform should still work and you can chain install updates by modifying the setup.ini file. SRJ.
  5. Do you mean the QuickLaunch bar? or the StartMenu bar? The QuickLaunch bar is located in C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch whilst the StartMenu is located under C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Start Menu\
  6. ender341's right, I have three reboots and three GUIRUNONCE files. You run your first .cmd from cmdlines.txt and then all the others from successive .cmd files. For instance, my first is Pass1.cmd which is run from cmdlines.txt. My second .cmd, Pass2.cmd, is run from Pass1.cmd using the following lines (this includes the reboot as well): REG ADD %KEY%\046 /VE /D "Rebooting...(Pass 1)" /f REG ADD %KEY%\046 /V 1 /D "\"%CDROM%\$OEM$\Pass 2.cmd\"" /f REG ADD %KEY%\046 /V 2 /D "shutdown.exe -r -f -t 0 -c \"Windows XP will now restart in 1 minute...\"" /f My Pass3.cmd is added into the Pass2.cmd file in the same way. Works for me. SRJ.
  7. Hey all , I've just incorporated Office Sounds into my unattended installation of Office 2003 and thought others may benefit from my work so here it is. Requirements Pre-existing administrative install of Office 2003 (Guide to do this here if you don't know how) Office 2003 Resource Kit (more info on using this to preconfigure Office 2003 here) Step 1 - Download Office Sounds and create an administrative install by extracting all files to a temporary directory (in this case I'm using c:\temp) using: setup.exe /T:C:\Temp /C Step 2 - You will now have a directory with two files: Launcher.exe and sounds.msi. We only want sounds.msi so you can discard/ignore Launcher.exe. Next, we need to extract the WAV files from sounds.msi. To do this, use the following and then follow the prompts: msiexec.msi /a sounds.msi You'll now have a directory hierachy as such: Windows/Media/Office97 which is filled with WAV files. Step 3 - Now run Microsoft's Custom Installation Wizard (which was part of the Office 2003 Resource kit), select 'Next'. Once you've selected your .msi file (mine is PRO11.msi) select 'Next'. If you don't already have an MST file then create one, otherwise select your unattended MST file and select 'Next'. Step 4- Now, in the top right hand corner of MS's CIW there is a dropdown list box (x of X) which represents all the configuration pages you can access and configure. Select page 11 - Add/Remove Files. NOTE: You may be asked if you want to overwrite your previous MST, I selected yes but if you're worried choose a different MST file to save your changes to. Step 5 - Select 'Add Files' and navigate to the directory where you unpacked your sound files (in Step 2). As all the files are to be installed in the same location, you can select them all and click 'OK'. You will now be presented with another dialog box asking you where to install the files you've just selected. Type the following in: <Windows>\Media\Office97 Now click 'Next'. You should now be on the Add/Remove registry entry screen. Step 6 - To make life easier, I've attached the registry entries required for Office Sounds to work correctly. So, download them and save the file to a location you can easily access. Once you've done that click 'Import', navigate to the location you just saved the .reg file to and select the file. Then click 'OK'. This will easily load all the registry settings. Done! A few notes: Uninstalling Office 2003 will NOT REMOVE any of the Office Sounds registry entries/files. As such, if you ever want to remove them then you'll need to do it manually. This is actually not that difficult as the entries/files you need to get rid of are as follows: * All Office97 entries in the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels] key * The [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Office97] in toto. * All files in Windows\Media\Office97 (ie. just delete the directory) Your current sound settings will NOT be modified as the registry changes set the sound setting to .Current (rather than .Default or "" <- which is none!) Enjoy! Office_Sounds.reg
  8. G'day, The easiest way is to use a scripting program such as AutoIt. Fast, easy and it gets the job done! I'd also recommend using SciTE as your editor as it has some good features to help you (like better integration with AutoIt). SRJ.
  9. G'day, I've trawled through the archives hoping to find a quick solution to my problem. I have just built a WinXP Pro SP2 + RyanVM 2.01 + MCE42Beta2 (using nLite v1.0RC4) which works like a dream, except that at the T-25 minute mark, a New Hardware Wizard dialog box appears asking me whether I want to search the internet looking for updated drivers . The dialog box appears three times and relates to the Terminal Service Mouse Driver, Terminal Service Keyboard Driver and Terminal Services Redirector. It doesn't matter what selection you choose as the files are loaded from the installation CD - the installation then continues without fault . I've played with the Winnt.sif file many times as I thought I'd made an entry that was causing the problem - it hasn't helped. So, I'm now perplexed and don't know what to do to rectify the situation. Could it be due to some selection I've made in nLite or is it something else? Cheers.
  10. Thanks guys... other events have taken me away from putting your replies into action (try like a logon stop error!!! aargghh - note to others, don't delete VGA Save drivers or you may find you can't access WinXP Pro at all, except without doing a repair over the top!!!)... Will let you know the outcome.. I think it is a timing issue but I'm not sure how to fix it but your comments above have provided some food for thought.
  11. Nope... no luck there. I tried replacing %systemdrive% with C: and still nothing happened. Any other ideas?
  12. Well, I can safely say I am becoming insane. All programs are copied to my %systemdrive% correctly and then installed correctly via RunOnceEx. The last command it runs is a compiled AutoIt script that places a RunOnceEx command to delete the copied $OEM$ directories and then forces a reboot. The problem is, nothing happens!!! The $OEM$ directories remain. I am using the following method for placing the key into RunOnceEx (I've tried both HKLM and HKCU but nothing is working ): RegWrite("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx", "Cleanup Install", "REG_SZ", "cmd /C RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\install") The key does not delete upon reboot and nothing happens. I've also tried placing the key in RunOnce and despite it being removed upon reboot, the directory remains!!!! I've also tried running RD via CMDOW and also tried using XRD but to no avail. Here's something even more weird, if I place the key into the registry using REG ADD from runonceex.cmd it deletes nearly everything (there is a lock on one of the directories for some unknown reason). Can anyone help??? I'm at a loss as to why this is occurring...
  13. I found it easier to script the installation of NSW2005. I used AutoIt 3! Works like a charm now (although you do see the dialog boxes!).
  14. Guess I'm just greedy in wanting to slipstream as much as a I can.
  15. Orca, Thanks for the link but I digested that trail before putting pen to paper. My issues isn't with nLite per se as my unattended installation has been done completely manual. I've also checked out RyanVM's website also. From what I've seen, I'm guessing its got something to do with the sif and inf files that are modified by Slipstreamer v3. I'm currently having a play with nLite to see if a installation completely generated with it allows slipstreaming of WMP10 with Slipstreamer v3. I'll post the outcome (first guess would be that it works which means Slipstreamer v3 is looking for a sif and inf files with certain formatting).
  16. Hi, Just tried to use WMP10 Slipstreamer v3 and hit a snag. When MP10 is installed using MP10Setup I have no problems with my unattended installation. However, once I slipstream MPW10 using Slipstreamer v3 I get the infamous framdyn.dll and srclient.dll errors. My unattended installation has been done completely manually and works without error if WMP10 is not slipstreamed. Any ideas? Cheers.
