My taskbar only "groups" if the taskbar is completely full.

My taskbar(s) are never completely full because the taskbar icons only show up on their active monitor.

I can have close to FOURTY programs all running at the same time (and often do) and my taskbars still don't run out of room.

Is this Windows 10? If you're using XP it was easy to keep programs separated but from Windows 7 on the programs were grouped so if you opened two instances of the same program (like Winamp) you couldn't separate them. Taskbar Tweaker restores that ability. But it has other features as well like restoring the right click menu to minimize. I haven't even got to the nightmare of Win11 yet and thankfully won't have to for a while.

    I don‘t agree with this.

I am very glad that Windows 10 didn‘t stay in that 2015 aesthetic till now and that they kept it‘s developed active. If you compare 1507 to 2004, you will notice how much things evolved and got better. I‘m also a big fan of the newer Start Menu and the Fluent Design System

Even if you agree with some of the feature upgrades did it need to be twice a year? Literally with each one the last three years Taskbar Tweaker would break. It's a wonderful program that undoes Microsoft's forced taskbar grouping nonsense. Fortunately, the developer kept up with it .

Well, who knows if we will get an extension or not for Windows 10, but it would be great if we got an extension, considering Windows 11 is still crappy., and Windows 10 is still used the most.

Just a hunch but given the difficulty for many to even upgrade to Windows 11 Microsoft will provide at least a three year ESU extension like they did for Win7. They're making security patches for it well past 2025 anyway so it would be a chance for them to make more money.

    Agreed!

Operating Systems should not have "features" - NONE.

If I want a "snipping tool", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want a "firewall", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want an antivirus "defender", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want a "candy crush" kiddy game, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want "3D" paint or printer apps, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want "people" contacts right on the taskbar, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want to "share" files, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want an all-in-one sytem-level "Cortana" tracking, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want to "sync" files, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

If I want my Start Menu to feed me advertisements, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps.

The Operating System should just "operate", bloatfree.

    Something like that...

Their feature updates were very disruptive and unnecessary, nearly everyone of them would break at least one or two frequently used programs and then I'd have to wait for the kindness of the developer to fix it. Security updates is all we need. Like you said, let the user configure the OS the way they want.

Ive also tried the latest release of windows 10 (22H2) and it worked great except for all the extra telemetry and other uneeded stuff added into it (which can be really easily be removed) but besides that ive never really had an issue with it

Working good here too. Still prefer Windows 7 though.

Holy Crap!  Look at this Basilisk thread, where I guess someone from here went to the Pale Moon Forum and dared to mistakenly ask about Serpent.  It's not about the right or wrong I'm concerned with: it's the snotty nature that Moonbat conducts himself with.  Just a p***-poor way to talk about people:

    https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=28657&start=40#p237935

XP is old but millions of people around the world still use it because they have to for whatever reason. Heck I still boot into it on occasion because perfectly good software like Nero 7.5 won't install on Windows 7+. That was intentional to force users to purchase upgrades.

Now Microsoft has upped the game with Windows 11 and unrealistic OS requirements for literally hundreds of millions. Hopefully they'll get slapped with antitrust lawsuits and fines once Win 10 has expired.

  7. Roy or anyone:

Just curious about why the Google agent was overridden? I substituted the latest Firefox string and don't see any problems but maybe there's something I'm missing.

Edit: a few other sites that don't seem to need the override are Amazon and Bing. Is this related to Pale Moon more so than Serpent?

Unfortunately it hasn't fixed everything. Chase.com made a change a couple of weeks ago, after which I could no longer sign in. (It prompts for my user ID and password as always, but when I sign in, I now get the unhelpful message "It looks like this part of our site isn't working right now." I've had to switch to 360EE or MiniBrowser (both Chromium builds) to use Chase.com.

This recent update fixed two sites for me: a utility and health site. Spectrum is still out and a few others won't redirect while displaying a "Secure Connection Failed" flag. Quite an improvement though considering the age of the browser.

I see nothing shocking regarding native Web Components as far as YouTube load speed is concerned, it's about as fast as with Firefox 42 user agent that gives polyfill.

That could be true with fast computers so I'm going to test this version out on an older Pentium 4 and see if there's a difference. Twitter on that box was definitely problematic and youtube was slow as molasses so it will be easy to tell. I do like that the polyfill addon is no longer needed and that up-to-date user agents can be used on these sites again. And that sites previously unable to come in are.

  10. Currently using today's 55.0 and it looks like the web components was already added to these versions. What a massive improvement.  Disabled the polyfill addon and github is rendering.

A few sites that were previously not coming in like a utility site now are so must have been related to web components (Spectrum still isn't).

But the real good news is youtube and twitter are vastly improved. The most up to date Firefox user agent unlike before works and the sites come in and render fast. Looking forward to continuing updates.

That would break the digital signature though. Does FF 78 still have a way to allow unsigned add-ons? I thought Mozilla phased out that option somewhere in the 50's.

For the regular release yes it would break but 78esr isn't a problem. I actually have kept a portable 78esr version on hand because it's the last one that allows me to easily import search engines using an old script.

... Just fresh from the oven:

Those among you here using MyPal68 with uBO (WE) as the main adblocker, it has just stopped supporting that browser choice... ; well, once again the "web on mobile" takes precedence over the "web on desktop/laptop" :realmad: ; gorhil decided to bump the minimum Firefox requirement in his extension from v68 to v79, to cater to Firefox Mobile users on Android (Google here, again :realmad: ...):

All is not lost for 78.0 desktop users, if I'm reading gorhill right the necessary API is there so it's just a matter of going into the manifest file and bumping the minimum down 1 version. Those on any 68.0 version will lose out although the filters should still update for the foreseeable future.

Chrome stable is now on version 110, having abandoned Win7/8.1 support; do any of you reading this consider it "unthinkable" their web devs simply devise/create a "new" JS "shiny" that will be offered with some Chrome version >11x?
Judging by what has happened already, they'll then forcibly bundle it with whatever Node/React/etc. web framework the "trendy/secure" sites "du jour" employ, breaking the web for those on Ch109 who resist an OS "upgrade" to Win10/11...

Isn't there a kernelex project for Vista? Windows 7 has VxKex and from what I've read the developer is working on making Chromium 110+ compatible with Windows 7/8.

360EE versions 13 and 13.5 are based on Chrome 86, and MiniBrowser on Chrome 87. Those should work at least until Spectrum gets around to implementing Googlisms even newer than those Chrome versions.

Googlisms is a good word for it, they've been polluting the internet for years with their "standards" that everyone sheepishly follows. Even Mozilla, with the exception that they haven't gone Chromium... yet.

Yes, Spectrum hasn't worked in some time. I always have to fall back to 360EE to access their site. (Although for bill payment, I rely on an amazing service called the "US Postal Service." It does cost me an extra $0.60 and a trip down my front sidewalk each month, though.)

It's probably javascript related, I use the newer Firefox without a problem. And yes, you can mail in the bill but my experience with that has at times been less than stellar. On more than one occasion they didn't process it for several months, even going so far as cutting me off because according to them they never received it. This even though it was mailed several weeks before the due date. Only paying online seems to have resolved the issues. Will have to look into 360EE and see what's that like.

  15. Still enjoying these older versions but sadly more sites refuse to render, especially bill-paying ones that require signing in such as these two:

    https://www.nationalgridus.com/Default.aspx

    https://www.spectrum.com/

Some other sites won't direct properly and you just get a message like this:

"The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified."

What is the procedure for reporting, should we go to the Pale Moon website or file a bug? They complain over there if you mention any of these builds but Pale Moon isn't rendering these pages either.

  16. The 52.0 and 55.0 browsers are running so much better now, far less issues with sticking and performance loss. Sadly, more and more sites are becoming incompatible with them, figured that was inevitable given their age.

Not sure what happened with this one, it was working not long ago but if you click the "Pay your bill" link it just spins forever: These are long threads so apologize if it has already been discussed:
