Hi I am in need of some help with a routine that will compress system files, is there anyone here willing to help with a routine that will use Makecab to compress system files? I am having problems at the moment as the path to the files that needs compressing has spaces in them and the routine i am using will not work. This is the only thing that is holding me back at the moment. Many Thanks for any help. Regards Worf

Hi. I would like to introduce you to a new software to help with the aid of unattended and custimization of windows XP. At the moment it will allow you to do four things 1. Integrate your own wallpaper directly into your XP Source 2. Integrate your own sound schemes directly into your XP Source 3. Change the location of the 'My Documents Directory' 4. Change the location of the 'Documents and Folders Directory'. This will stop the need of using the $OEM$ folder. Please not that this software is still in a beta stage so there may still be bugs in it. Known bug is that while installing it might ask you for the location of one of your wallpapers, not sure why yet as the other install fine. WinGrate Regards Worf

Hi. Just having a little problem with Makcab and i am hoping some one here can help. I am creating an application to help with the aid of creating an Unattended XP CD but makecab is holding me back as i want to get this sorted so that i can release a beta version. For some reason makcab will not compress a file with a space in between the file name. I.E. Vista Aero.jpg MakeCab creates a directory called Vista then says it cant find file Aero.jpg Is there a way to get MakeCab to compress these files? Many Thanks Worf.

Yea i know, got a lot on my mind and probs at the mo, and no i have not given up Anyway, no screen shots at the moment but what i can tell you is that my application will intergrate wallpapers, sound schemes directly into the windows source with out the need to use the $OEM$ folder. Other plans i have is to allow you to intergrat Windows styles, Cursors, Fonts, change 'My Documents' and other folders location directly into the HIVE files. It will also allow you to intergrate all your registry tweaks into the hive files. When most of it is done i will provide a lot of different wallpapers, sound schemes, Cursors ect with my application. I have plans to allow you to move, remove or add items to the Start Menu plus more. Any input would be greatful. Regards Worf

Hi. I am in the process of finnishing off the first two parts of a new unattended Intergration program and i need some people to test it for me. At the moment this program will intergrate Wallpaper (and allow you to set default wallpaper) and also intergrate Sound schemes. Hi I am writing a program in visual basic.net 2008, and i am looking for people who would like to help with some code that i am having problems writing. If you are interested then please PM me. It is a big project and i have alot of ideas that i want to put into this application as i think it will make it a lot easier in creating an unattended Windows XP CD. Hi. This is my first time using Visual Basic and i'm in need of some help with tabs. I am tempting to write a program to aid me in my unattended xp cd which when finished will be available to all forum members here, i am only doing the GUI at the moment which uses tabs. Now, i have created a form with four tabs. see below Form 1 | \/ Context Menu|Explorer|File System|Internet Explorer Using tab Explorer as an example, I have put some options in here but because i have ran out of room i have but a button on the form called 'Next' so that i can go to the next page of the explorer tab and created another form, see below Form 2 Contex Menu|Explorer|File System|Internet Explorer Form 2 has more options in the Explorer tab. Now what i need to know is on form 1 when i click on the next button how to i get the explorer tab on form 2 to show and not the first tab which is the Context Menu? Or am i doing this wrong? Hi Mitsukai Thanks for replying. I'll uninstall .NET and then re-install it again then try NLite. Bit of a pain this really as it is holding me up a little, just hope this sorts it out. What i can't understand is that it will slipstream SP3 no problem. Anyway, will report back and let you know if it worked.

Ok, i have used NLite on a clean source, slipstreamed SP3 fine but when i tried to integrate IE7 the same thing happened again, Nlite exited so i tried again but used RVM_Integrater for IE7 and then slipstreamed WMP11. Used Nlite to remove Components but as soon as Nlite got to the stage where it removes components Nlite just vanished again. Here is my last Session. NLite just disappears. The source i was using was only Nlited to intergrate SP3,IE7 and a few system addons for all the updates i used /INTEGRATE. I was using 1.4.9 then went back to 1.4.7 but was still the same. Just realised,silly me i was tring to remove components to a source which has already had them romoved. I've got two packup copies, one with just SP3,IE7 ect, and another with the same but also with all the updates. Did not realise that i had already removed the components. Maybe Nuhi could put something in Nlite to check for this?

Hi. With my xp source i have integratated SP3,IE7,WMP11 and all the updates up to date. Now the problem i have is that when i come to removing components NLite will exit on the removing components section. Tried it with just SP3 integrated and NLite still exits while removing components.? Many thanks Worf

I just wanted to share the installer i made for a friend that uses Vuze. Thanks to Worf, forum users can install it at T12-13 as well. H elajua, just want to let you know that i wasn't knocking your msi installer just wanted to let users know that mine installs at T-12/13 stage. Trying to work on some other INF installers for WinRAR, O&O Defrag, ConvertXToDVD,PowerISO plus others. Got my work cut out for me....... Keep them comming....

Sorry if i offended you mitsukai, it wasn't meant to sound that way. All i was saying is that i install my progs through INF Files and not through SVCPACK or using switches. The programs i was talking about was Vuze, ConvertXtoDVD,PowerISO,WinRAR ect, which are programs i use alot. If someone can create a program to be able to install programs not using SVCPack then great. No i dont't know anything about your knowledge and i can imagin that you have more knowledge than me when it come to unattened Windows XP cd's, yes i am still learning and i have gained alot in what i have done in experementing and if i can pass that on and give other users ideas then i will no matter how easy or hard it is........ If i can find away of installing drivers the way windows does without having to use other methods in this form and i am succesful then i will post it in these forums as long as it will help others. I have been half succesful in doing this with my XBOX 360 wireless controler by getting windows to recognise it and installing the drive automaticly after windows has installed and being on my desktop..... Also i also have problems in my life but i do not take them out on other users in this forum for some thing they have said or do when it comes to the way they install there programs...... Anyway, as for ideas for a program to do what you are talking about. The only way i can see you being able to achieve this is being able to get your program to monitor the way the program installs and write it's values to the registry ect. then get your program to copy all the files to a temp directory write all the registry entries it makes and any other modifications it does to another file. Then either give the user to either great an addon or directly intergrate it into the windows source. If the user decides to create an addon then your program would create an inf file with the registry entries and then all the other info into the entries inf file like you would a normal addon. If the user decides to intergrate it into the windows source then you would copy all files to a temp directory and then create and inf file with all the other information it neads to install the software then either compress the files into a CAB which is what i do, or write them to the Txtsetup.sif and Dosnet.inf. I know it is not going to be an easy task and not being able to program myself i will be unable to help you out. I guess now you are going to flame me for going off the tracks here?

I have already done this, all of the small apps that i want to have intergrated into my XP CD are all intergrated into the source. They all have there registry settings. I decompress the files and then write an inf installer which has all the registry settings for the program. They also get installed at T-13 stage and when windows is installed my programs are all setup ready to run. The only problem is that it could take me a couple of days to do one program.
