  1. OK .. I've read all about Matrox .. and fixed my mtxpar.inf file ... modified MtxSetup.ini with 'silent' settings .. pointing to my G550.inf and copied MtxSetup.ini to Setup.ini Server2008 installs the 'Standard VGA' drivers. But if I go into Device-Manager and delete it .. and reboot, the Matrox G550 drivers get loaded. How do I get the unattended install to use the correct matrox drivers first???? some background .. I extracted the matrox files ... modified them .. then used Ryan's VistaTool to load the drivers. Looks like the drivers aren't certificated correctly???????? Here's a clip of the 'setupapi.dev.log' from Windows subdirectory: inf: Opened INF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\g550.inf_36518b80\g550.inf' ([strings] <src=drvstore>) inf: Saved PNF: 'C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\g550.inf_36518b80\g550.PNF' (Language = 0409) sig: {_VERIFY_FILE_SIGNATURE} 21:03:58.109 sig: Key = g550.inf sig: FilePath = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\g550.inf_36518b80\g550.inf sig: Catalog = C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\g550.inf_36518b80\G550.cat ! sig: Verifying file against specific (valid) catalog failed! 2. If you specify a product key in the windowsPE configuration pass with ProductKey, then Windows welcome will prompt for a product key. If you specify the ProductKey setting during the specialize pass, then Windows Welcome will not prompt for a product key. So .. I use the 'Specialize' pass ... but you still need a valid ProductKey .. or it will reject. (That's what I know)
  3. Don't forget to rename 'bootmgr' to 'ntldr'.
  4. I've searched .. couldn't find much info .... I want to partition a harddrive into 2 partitions (C: and D:) ... copy Vista install files to D: .. make it active .. then boot and have Vista install to the C: partition. Is that possible? What do I need to have on the D: parition? Vista install files ... WinPE?? Thanks!
  5. I just sent a PM .. asking how you resolved this!! Thanks <<jrxnelson>>
  6. Not sure if I understand how DriverCompressor works or not ... I run the compress.cmd in the driver directory .. it creates new subdirectories .. and copies files there. But does it create a CAB file? or do I have to do that on my own?? And what do I do with the CAB file? where do i put it on the unattended CD?? Sorry for not getting the full gist of this...
  7. I also would like this wonderful utility??? Where is it??
  8. OK .. I have an external 20G USB Harddrive. I'd like to use it to do Unattended installations. I can't get it to boot DOS, but I can get it to boot Linux. I'd like to: - Boot Linux - Format target drive - copy XP files - start winnt.ext / unattended installation Any help would be greatly appreciated. This way, no more CD's to burn ...
  9. tskill works in XP. But .. I never knew of 'taskkill' .. that looks sooo much better!!! Thanks Alanoll
  10. Exactly ... Wraith hit the nail on the head!!! I do have BIOS set to boot CD first .... but it doesn't recognize that I have a bootable SATA hard drive. The exact CD will show "Press any key" when I have an IDE drive. Just looking to see if anyone else has noticed this. Dell now sells only platforms with SATA drives.
  11. Not hidden partitions. Just a CD drive and a Serial ATA drive (that's recognized in BIOS as 'Third Primary Master'. Seems that when the CD boots --- it doesn't recognize any formatted partition .. so it doesn't issue the "Press any key .." msg. Then it will automatically start installing the CD onto the harddrive (C: ). But when it reboots .. it does not recognize any drive ... then starts installing again.
  12. I have a system with CD drive and SATA drive only. BIOS recognizes the SATA drive as Third Master. Unattended CD does not prompt me with "Press any key to boot from CD". It just goes into the install process .. which recognizes the drive. Then when the system reboots to install .. the CD is still in and bootfix.bin doesn't recognize the hard-drive. Looks like bootfix.bin doesn't probe for a Third Master IDE ... Has anyone seen this?? Thx!
  13. Where's cmdow.zip ???? The site: http://www.commandline.co.uk/cmdow/ is down!!! I need a copy! Thanks!
