As a new owner of Raspberry Pi 5, I shall demand an arm64 version with utmost stubbornness!

Oh, who am I kidding, I know nothing will happen unless I try to do it myself...

Yes but we're not all coders.  I see people putting putting in all sorts of request here all of the time.  MSFN developers, while admittedly of their own kindness, do this because they know there is an audience for it.  It builds expectation, plain and simple.  In other words, I'm going to feel at all poorly about my wishes when I see other making requests left, right and centre here - ALL THE TIME.

If you think this is going to win the developer over to your side of thinking, "all the power to you".  I don't see it working though.

Oh neither do I.  Although I have seen stranger changes of heart, so I never say never.

Besides, some of the best things I've ever achieved I had to apply pressure to get.  It was worth it.  No, you don't win 'em all, but you do win some.

I think you are overthinking.  There really is NO REASON to make an x64 version.

I'm more OCD then the next guy, but to have it x64 just because everything else you use is x64 is not really a justifiable reason.

To you it isn't justifiable, but the application WAS originally x64.  Your lack of agreement doesn't make me wrong.  I want x64 applications on an x64 OS.  Nothing unreasonable able that at all.  Plus I would think the XP x64 Edition folks would love it.  Anyway, I'll remain stubborn.

I am not doing this, I considered doing it to prevent buggy code being pushed to roytam1's users, but I never decided to actually go forward with it.

What's sad is that roytam1 continues to release code to his users that has not been verified as production ready. Code in the master branch of upstream UXP or upstream Basilisk is not always production ready. I have seen issues reported on MSFN for roytam1's builds because he was pulling code from master branches before they were ready. He is doing a disservice to his users by giving them potentially buggy code.

You seem reasonable.  I wish you would also take over Tobin's Interlink project so that those of us who like it can have an x64 version of it.  Roytam1 refuses to oblige,

    Sigh!

    Done.

    Agreed!

As for feeling a sense of "responsibility" for keeping up with changes, I don't 100% agree with that.  I do feel that there is a valid option of just wanting being a "consumer" of things.  I don't need to know how my toaster works, and if I feel a need to ask someone once a year because the interest strikes me, I'll have at it.

That may seem argumentative to some, but it's not intended to be at all - simply an observation and point of views, and a perfect valid one at that.  Changelogs contain LOTS of content and many may be too busy to read through that.  Likewise @VistaLover, you also have no responsibility to answer my questions, and while I really appreciate that you did, I won't be made to feel like I I somehow put you out because I asked.  That's not meant to be confrontational, so I hope it's heard in the spirit that it's meant.

This is a fork of the official UXP platform repo (see above); the tracking branch of that repo follows more closely the master branch of the official UXP platform (see above); the forked UXP repo, by now, is different to the original one in various ways, one of which is in restoring WinXP+Vista support (which also entails several lib differences, like in ffvpx), another one is keeping Mozilla features MCP have dumped long ago (e.g. Web Extensions, Tab Containers, half-baked e10s code, EME, e.a); also, the NSS lib in "our" browsers is somewhat different to the one MCP maintain; that is why profiles between the official apps and roytam1 apps aren't 100% interchangeable...

So see, I'm glad I asked again because when I started following this years ago, I really thought that New Moon 27 was just Pale Moon 27 modified to run on XP and Vista, and that every update since then was the same comparative.  Likewise for Pale Moon 28 vs New Moon 28.  I DID realize that never releases kept the 28x versioning, though in fairness to myself, I DID go and look in the first posts of this thread where we're told that was explained, and I didn't see that explanation (I I only add that point to show I did research again before asking) :)

Dear Jody, and I mean this in a genuine way :), you of all people shouldn't come back with the very same queries, because it was I who answered your similar queries in the not so distant past...

What it all comes down to is:

    1. do you have a grasp of what open source code is?
    2. do you have a grasp of what a forked open-source code repo is?
    3. do you have a grasp of what a platform and an application built on it is?

If not, any answer you'll get from me won't make much sense to you, and I'm sorry to say that there's no simplistic yes/no answer to your re-iterated queries above...

I will re-read it, but you must understand that I also get things change, and some people (me for example) are just too busy to read through pages of threads.  Sometimes we also just forget.  So I don't feel bad about being "ignorant" about it.  I've learned to ask as I please, and not feel badly about it.  There's nothing wrong with re-visiting a question.  It's not meant to inconvenience people in the least.  That I promise.

And I do thank you for the explanation.

These come via the platform (UXP) "updates" and are being implemented (when possible) by MCP himself (who has private access to them through Mozilla); if they're uploaded to the official UXP repo, then sure they'll be integrated/backported to Roy's fork of UXP (off-the-top-of-my-head, last summer's webp vulnerability was also patched "here"); be advised that a large number of Firefox "security fixes" involve e10s, as that isn't implemented in UXP, they won't make it onto "our" browsers...

... Tsk, bad on you, dear friend :P ...

    Best wishes :)

So I take it when the newest Serpent 52 is released, is that really just the latest version of Basilisk ported to XP/Vista?

Likewise, if I use the latest version of New Moon 28, is that really the same as Pale Moon 33x?  Without getting into confusing changelogs, how different are they?

How "long time membership" is relevant if a member writes a gross over-exaggeration in terms of hardware requirements?

You were "attacked" with the fact of Core Quad/DDR2 being enough for that Firefox task? LOL. Well, frankly, it's not my problem.

Jody, this attraction is not mutual, sorry to disappoint, please stop chasing me, also don't involve me into the affairs with other members.

If you want to talk, we can talk, but only if you try to prove me wrong with the similar results on your hardware. I'm not interested in your usual derailing activities. I don't see "admin" on your account.

I'm not chasing you, so stop flattering yourself.  But when I see crap behaviour, I'll make it my business to point it out as a good citizen.

But I get it now.  Your mantra if, "If I disagree with you, I'll treat you poorly."  Thanks I got it loud and clear.

I wish the admins of this board would do something about your behaviour (by that I mean collectively you, Dixel, and Saxon).  Many of us other have been pulled aside and given warnings for WAY LESS.

Over-exaggeration, it runs just fine with only 8GB of 20 years old DDR2 RAM and a 16 years old core quad processor q9650 with only 4 cores! What - you don't throw out and replace your PC every couple of decades? What's wrong with you?"

What's wrong with you D.Draker?  You and Dixel (starting to think you're one and the same) are acting horribly and unreasonably to people - some who are very long time members here.  Keep it over in your own threads if you must.  You've could have easily said, "I didn't experience the same symptoms as you did." or something of the like, but you just attack first without thinking or considering who you might be talking to.

Why would comparing it to something of relatively close versions be off-topic? Win32 declared officially, he started following the Ungoogled path.

It's not when someone compares it to Firefox or 360.

I dunno - doesn't sound consistent to me.  I think you are trying to dictate terms here, and I don't see "Admin" by your name.  The difference in versions of Chromium (360 vs Supermium) is neither here nor there.  You and your pack are the only ones making a huge deal of this.  No one that has been here for any significant amount of time has any problems with the "issues" you have with our comparisons.  I think we'll all just go on and post how we want.  Anyway, it was noted that Dibya started this thread any way, not Win32.  So let's agree to co-exist cordially, shall we?

This is very insulting to say such a thing to a girl! Yes, we girls are sensitive.

I just saw win32 appeared here some time ago, read the usual nonsense, and didn't reply again, which proves the point of @AstragonQC, @Dixel, me and all other members who wish well to this project and want it to continue.

You're very rude, you need to apologize.

It had NOTHING to do with you being a girl.  In fact I make no judgements of gender.  We're all equals here.  So let's not turn this into a direction that it never had to go into.

Thank you it's needed to be said. Some fail to understand how easy is to let a project down. Some do it without realizing it. Some do it on purpose.

And this ... how is such discussion "letting a project down?"  I mean really!!!  Are we trying to grow a market for Kleenex tissues here?

Unbelievable.  I just ... don't know what to think.  And here I though I was sensitive!

Because in my opinion, Jody, it was one of the reasons win32 doesn't respond here anymore. I want to stick forks in my eyes each time I read numerous references glorifying 360 in Supermium's thread. It's no comparison by any means (no one can compare version 86 to 121), and even if it is (in your opinion), it's simply not needed for this young project. Would you like me to come to any of Firefox's threads and start telling how I like Chrome? Or "comparing" it in a way  "We've ALWAYS done things like that here"? Or simply mention they can't work with somewhat modern sites? Think about it.

I can't tell for D.D, we'd have to wait what he thinks about it.

I'm sorry, but that sort of thinking is taking this all WAY TOO PERSONALLY!  And sure, you can stop by one of my thread's and make comparisons to something else.  That's called "discussion".

At the end of the day, it's just technology.  By the way no one owns threads here.  Even on Roytam1s and NotHere's threads, people make comparisons to things.  For example, a few posts yet, I praised Supermium because it game Vista a real contender for the modern web.  It beats out Roytam1s and NotHere's offerings (in my mind).  So  by your logic, are we not allowed to say that?  It's perfectly a relevant comparison.

  15. 8 hours ago, Dixel said:

Yep, I was thinking the same, looks like win32 don't respond here anymore, seems like he moved to github completely. Could be due to the reason of not so warm and unfriendly posts we can all observe here.

Generally, the atmosphere is not very welcoming, to say the least. All those unneeded comparisons and endless talks about chinese knock-offs...

May I ask why these "comparisons" are so troublesome for you and D. Draker?  What is the issue?  We've ALWAYS done things like that here.

  16. 12 hours ago, D.Draker said:

Then it's advisable to articulate what is it exactly you want the developer to do. Write only the technical details, without additional, emotional soap, then tag win32 so he could check the request. Obviously, tag only when it's really needed. Thanks.

Don't forget to include pics of how you want it to be. The same is when reporting issues.

    Example.

What is your problem D. Draker?  There's no "emotional soap" or whatever nonsense your rambling on about.  We're making COMPARISONS, and besides you, it appear everyone else gets what I'm trying to articulate.  Are you telling me you need me to show you what a titlebar is in an image?  Are you really telling me that?

Besides, I'm sure win32 is not able to make such a change because it's basically "Chrome"

Also, lately it seems a few of you newbies are starting to dictate how manage threads and posts.  You're not the format police, so join in the conversation, or don't comment.

Could simply mean they both are bright.

That certainly could be true, but I compared these browsers (Supermium and MyPal 68) just now with Explorer++, Softmaker Office and Serpent 52, and I'm not noticing a difference.

All I can say is that out of all the options on this rather ill-equipped Vista notebook, Supermium really does run well.  Very snappy considering I only have 2 GB or memory.

  18. 8 hours ago, NotHereToPlayGames said:

For me, it's basically come down to a true TITLE BAR and UNIFORMALITY.  I really really do HATE one program on my computer not "looking the same" as all my other programs.

That's basically it for me too.  I really prefer the UI consistency between applications.  Chrome, when run on may xNix desktop environments, remedies this issue, but on Windows, Chrome/Supermium, and Microsoft Office Products are the biggest offenders in this area.

  19. 2 hours ago, Dixel said:

Jody, can I trouble you to compare the brightness? Sorry for the delicate question, how's your eyesight? To me, Supermium is approx. 25 percent brighter than any other browser, let's say the ordinary Ungoogled, thus leading to the extreme eye fatigue.

No matter what flags I use.

Hey Dixel.  I have noticed no difference in brightness.  I am A/B testing between MyPal 68 and Supermium as I type this.  I do not notice at at all.

  20. Bingo @VistaLover.  The GDI flag worked.

Move over Roytam1 and NotHereToPlayGames (all in jest, I promise), but you have been supplanted.  We now have modern browsing in Vista (without any extended kernel).

Although 360 does allow tables under the address bar (ahem, tabs - I'll leave the error intact because of subsequent responses :D ), so I do tip my hat to NotHereToPlayGames for that one especially.  And Roytam! has come along with bringing XP and Vista up to browsing snuff.

@Jody Thornton I'm not sure what's your request exactly, but if you detest Windows 10 titlebar, and want the old XP classic titlebar back, then enable #force-xp-theme flag in chrome://flags.

If that isn't your request, then I sincerely apologize.

My mistake.  I thought there was a customized version of Supermium.  I'm looking at the flags now.  I also found a "Disable windows 10 theme flags", but it didn't do much.

I also forgot that there's no way to have a true titlebar in chrome, so also my bad.  I do have the vista look-alike buttons now though, so that's good,  Now I just need to figure out why certain check boxes and menu elements aren't rendered.

You were very helpful.  No apologies needed :)

  22. Hey folks!  Forgive my confusion.  I finally started to give Supermium a run for its money on my Dell Inspiron Notebook PC, running Vista Home Basic SP2.  It has 2 GB of RAM, yet Supermium is running really swiftly considering everything.

Now I downloaded my copy from GitHub.  It installs to the AppData\Local Folder., whereas I unzipped the Chrome-Bin contents in to a \Program Files\Supermium folder.  In either case, it sports a Windows 10-esque title bar.  I understood that Win32s made a version with the old Chrome interface.  Where is that downloaded from?

    I appreciate your help.
