  1. I'd try with a fully updated source (all official and if possible unofficial updates). Theoretically it shouldn't matter but I can say from my experience that it does matter. I had a situation when the setup didn't want to go any further and it was only after slipstreaming all official & unofficial updates that everything went smoothly. Otherwise it crashed just after the first part of the text setup. As both AHCI & IDE modes don't work I don't believe it's a problem with the driver.
  2. Does it work when it's set to IDE mode?
  3. @Multibooter It's not exactly related to the topic but Watts are not the only factor when it comes to power supplies. Much more important is the quality of components it is made from. You may have a 1000W power supply but if it's made of bad (crappy) components it may be just unstable, no matter how many Watts it has got. A good 300W power supply may be better than a bad 500W one. Power supply is something you shouldn't try to save money on http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/power-supply-cabinets-mods/147389-power-supply-blacklist-thread-newbies.html
  4. By the way, Mim0, the fix for USP5 is not only for the newer versions as you wrote: but even the last version of USP5.1 from 2006 is affected by it
  5. @acus Could you try with a test version of UURollup-v11? Even if Add/Remove Programs doesn't work you can always uninstall from the %systemroot% directory (make sure that you've got hidden and system folders shown). You even have the directory ($NtUninstallNETFX1011203035$) visible on the screen shot By the way, are are 100% sure it's the newest version of NETFX1011203035 installer you're using? Edit: Add/Remove Programs is broken because UURollup (ENU) requires at least Update Rollup 1 to be present in the system!! It's written in "Requirements" on my website so you should install either UR1 or USP5.1 (it has UR1 integrated) before applying UURollup. @Hackeronte Are you sure you copied the script correctly? You seem to have "ECHO1" instead of "ECHO" there. By the way, you may want to use
  6. I think you may find Affiche bureau useful. This tiny utility has a very interesting desktop preview function: Source: http://www.le-monde-de-gigi.com/logiciels/C22-bureautique/SC89-divers/337-affiche-bureau.html
  7. I can't really say when but I'd like to solve the problems as soon as it's possible.
  8. I've uploaded a new test version with a different ntdll.dll. Could you try it out? The download location is the same as before (just choose the newest file). LdrShutdownThread is present in all versions of ntdll.dll, including the official one but you're right that there are many new APIs in the last WildBill's version of ntdll.dll and I'm guessing there might be something wrong with it. The new test version of UURollup-v11 uses exactly the same ntdll.dll as UURollup-v9b. After installing the new test version please tell me what versions of ntdll.dll and shell32.dll you've got in the system.
  9. I've been preparing UURollup-v11 where a few bugs will be fixed. I hope the one discussed here too. As this seems to be your main system I won't suggest trying out a test version of it as it may be risky but if you do want to try it out then please send me a PM. Otherwise I'll let you know when UURollup-v11 final is ready.
  10. Actually apart from instant access the thing I like the most concerning Quick Launch is that you can launch multiple programs at once by clicking on the shortcuts while Start Menu closes after you launch something so you need to reopen in in order to run another application.
  11. @Hackeronte Good job Now we can focus on the list: advapi32.dll asp.dll bootvid.dll crypt32.dll cryptui.dll DBGENG.DLL explorer.exe faxcover.exe fontext.dll halaacpi.dll halacpi.dll halapic.dll halborg.dll halmacpi.dll halmps.dll halsp.dll html32.cnv infocomm.dll iphlpapi.dll isign32.dll kernel32.dll lsasrv.dll mciseq.dll mpr.dll msconfig.exe msconv97.dll mspaint.exe mswrd6.wpc mswrd632.wpc mswrd8.wpc mswrd832.cnv normaliz.dll notepad.exe ntdll.dll ntkrnlmp.exe ntkrnlpa.exe ntkrpamp.exe ntoskrnl.exe ole32.dll openal32.dll packager.exe plustab.dll reg.exe samsrv.dll setupapi.dll shell32.dll sndrec32.exe spuninst.exe testver.cmd user32.dll userenv.dll winmm.dll WINSRV.DLL wordpad.exe wordpad.inf wrap_oal.dll write.wpc write32.wpc wscript.hlp xpsp3res.dll xpsp4res.dll You can now run this script (from inside the folder LIST): FOR /F %%I IN ('DIR/B') DO IF NOT EXIST %systemroot%\system32\%%I ECHO>>list.txt %%I After it has finished you should have a file "list.txt" where all files from LIST which have got no counterparts in %systemroot%\system32 will be listed. @My2GirlsDad Thanks a lot for testing. Keep in mind that this is still an experimental release so installing it in a real system is not recommended. It will actually break your existing .NET Framework installation if you decide to uninstall it. I'm going to work on .NET 4.0 now. @acus The uninstaller problem should be fixed in the newest version of netfx1011203035. Thanks for reporting the problem There was a small bug in the update.inf.
  12. Thanks for useful information, BlackWingCat Edit: GIMP still doesn't launch even after replacing the files. It's present in Task Manager but uses 0% CPU and 60+ MB RAM but there's no visible window on the screen.
  13. @Mim0 I haven't tested it but I'm sure that adding "win32k.Add.Reg.Session" to the line: ECHO>>SOURCESS\I386\HFSLP!HFSLP!.INF AddReg=Product.Add.Reg,keys.add,MSI.AddReg,Actsetup.Reg,User.AddReg,Base.IE.AddReg,Common.Add.Reg,AppCompatSetup.reg,NoPrompt.AddReg,RegisterActiveSetup,Reg.WPD,MTP.AutoPlayRegistration,reg.devices,Reg.Codecs,Fraunhofer.Reg,V9Reg.Core,V9Reg.Core.AddOnly,V9Reg.Univ,WMP.ARP,V9.RegPUI,WMPAddReg.PUI,WMPAddReg.OSPUI,V9Reg.XP,WMP.SPAD,WMP.Reg.IEHard,Reg.WMDMHandler,General.Add.Reg,OleAcc.Add.Reg,UIACore.Add.Reg,win32k.Add.Reg.Session will solve the problem. This kind of change shouldn't cause any side effects.
  14. True. The funny thing is that in Win8 the fastest way to shut down the computer from the desktop is to click on it and use Alt+F4 (or just press the power button). QuickDrop is a very interesting idea. I'll need to try it sometime. As for the resolution then in this case the wider, the better... but I still prefer my 22" CRT with the "unpopular" 4:3 screen aspect ratio. This is how it looks like on my desktop:
  15. I haven't got time to do more extensive testing but I think win32k.sys is missing from the uniproc folder (in 2393802-V10).
  16. http://windows2000.tk/ has been updated. Nothing extremely important but I've added a new version of Kel's Runtimes, two PLK updates and a few programs to the list.
  17. I'll try to prepare a fixed version as soon as possible. I still don't know what causes the IE6 problem but at least I know that something is wrong with the files not being replaced and I also need to fix the ntdll.dll version inconsistence problem. Remember that you must clear the update.ver from UURollup-v9b before installing it over UURollup-v10. If you don't then I can't guarantee that your system will be bootable.
  18. I use Start Menu only for rarely used applications. The rest is in Quick Launch (I use a double lined taskbar so there's enough place for ~50 shortcuts in it @ 1400x1050 screen resolution). I'm probably one of the few people that don't really care for Start Menu that much
  19. There seems to be something wrong with the installer. All files should be replaced with the ones coming from UURollup-v10 regardless of their version. Can you confirm that the only case when IE6 got broken was after installing UURollup-v10? Did everything work OK after applying USP5.1 and later after installing UURollup-v9b?
  20. I'll fix the uninstaller problem... but I don't think you installed UURollup before trying netfx1011203035 Edit: Something must've gone wrong. This is how it should look like in the Add/Remove Programs panel:
  21. CoolNovo hasn't released any updates for a few months. They stopped at version 17 while the current version of Chrome is 20.
  22. They may not be bad per se but the problem is that because so many things are hard coded in the script there always has to be someone adjusting it to support new nonstandard updates. "Adjusting" in this case means adding more fixed names I'd never rely on M$ here
  23. I have just uploaded a merged installer for .NET Frameworks 1.0-1.1-2.0-3.0-3.5. It requires UURollup-v10 (ENU) or newer.
  24. I think that here there is no problem in the update itself. It's a bug (limitation) in HFSLIP which makes it parse the update.inf incorrectly. HFSLIP uses a "fixed" list of AddReg entries. As easily expected, this leads to problems when nonstandard names are used as in this update. To fix the problem you need to modify this line in HFSLIP: ECHO>>SOURCESS\I386\HFSLP!HFSLP!.INF AddReg=Product.Add.Reg,keys.add,MSI.AddReg,Actsetup.Reg,User.AddReg,Base.IE.AddReg,Common.Add.Reg,AppCompatSetup.reg,NoPrompt.AddReg,RegisterActiveSetup,Reg.WPD,MTP.AutoPlayRegistration,reg.devices,Reg.Codecs,Fraunhofer.Reg,V9Reg.Core,V9Reg.Core.AddOnly,V9Reg.Univ,WMP.ARP,V9.RegPUI,WMPAddReg.PUI,WMPAddReg.OSPUI,V9Reg.XP,WMP.SPAD,WMP.Reg.IEHard,Reg.WMDMHandler and add the three sections present in this update like this: ECHO>>SOURCESS\I386\HFSLP!HFSLP!.INF AddReg=Product.Add.Reg,keys.add,MSI.AddReg,Actsetup.Reg,User.AddReg,Base.IE.AddReg,Common.Add.Reg,AppCompatSetup.reg,NoPrompt.AddReg,RegisterActiveSetup,Reg.WPD,MTP.AutoPlayRegistration,reg.devices,Reg.Codecs,Fraunhofer.Reg,V9Reg.Core,V9Reg.Core.AddOnly,V9Reg.Univ,WMP.ARP,V9.RegPUI,WMPAddReg.PUI,WMPAddReg.OSPUI,V9Reg.XP,WMP.SPAD,WMP.Reg.IEHard,Reg.WMDMHandler,General.Add.Reg,OleAcc.Add.Reg,UIACore.Add.Reg This is why using fixed names is really bad...
  25. The new list seems to be the same as the one from #68. Have you really moved the ones listed in #69? I meant to move them from LIST to FILES.
