  1. IMPORTANT Because of a mistake on my side some of the newly added HBRs to the bristols' list may be obsolete. Please wait a few days before downloading them. Some more checking must be done. I'm sorry for this confusion If you absolutely need to make a fully updated installation CD of Win2k now I recommend downloading all official and unofficial updates and the current version (v3) of HBR Mini Rollup. I'd recommend NOT downloading other hotfixes (by request) as for today (except KB896414). Just use the HBR Mini Rollup v3. On the other hand, if you don't need to have it today then it's the best to wait at least few days until everything gets clear. Even if you are slipstreaming the unofficial updates I still recommend to download ALL official updates, even the superseded ones. I found some glitches and inconsistencies between the new unofficial ones and the superseded official updates. The safest option is to download all of them listed here (without the HBRs) and slipstream using HFSLIP. HFSLIP will automatically use the newest files so it doesn't matter whether the same file in different versions is included even in several different updates.
  2. You're right about the SP6 thing. If I finally decide to make a SP6 it will probably include everything from bristols' Windows 2000 Updates list. But for now, as I'm still not sure whether I will be able to make it and the Unofficial Update Rollup 2 is still in beta stage, I would suggest to just follow the list. If you want to include HBRs in your installation then you could use my HBR Mini Rollup. As many new HBRs have just been added to the bristols' site I would suggest waiting a few days until I add them to the Rollup. Then you won't need to download any HBRs (but one - 896414) separately Now, when I finish the Unofficial Update Rollup 2 the process will be much simpler. UR2 will cover all of the official system updates from 2005 to EOL. It means that only UR1+UR2+HBR Rollup + unofficial updates will be needed to include almost everything available on the Windows Updates list. Please take note that apart from the Windows Updates list there are also other lists (IE, Script, etc.) which are NOT covered by these Rollups (yet). The problem with addons is that they cannot be slipstreamed by using the HF folder. They can only be processed through HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder and by doing so they are not directly integrated into the system but are rather installed in the T-13 phase of the installation. Both HBR Mini Rollup (KB654654) and UR2 (KB742742) are streamable from the HF folder I hope everything is clear now. Unfortunately the only stable release at the moment is the HBR Mini Rollup. Please just give me some time to finish everything
  3. Update Rollup 2 BETA1 ready Known issues: - Windows Installer 3.1 not yet included (KB893803-v2, KB927891) - KB951748-V2 not yet included - KB958470 not yet included - KB974571 not yet included - KB979683 not (yet?) included - Server updates not included - catalog files (*.cat) are not installed Included updates (77): Only official updates from this list are included. Unofficial updates are not included. Update Rollup 1 is not included. HBRs (hotfixes by request) are not included.
  4. I did the same thing to these updates: 2124261 - added the catalog from 917537 2387149 - added the catalog from 924667 2360937 - added the catalog from 970238 2476687 - added the catalog from 978037 and moved WildBill's *.asm files to a different folder (so they won't be slipstreamed by HFSLIP) 2507618 - added the catalog from 980218 and moved WildBill's *.asm & *.map files to a different folder Windows2000-KB2124261-v1a-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB2360937-v1a-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB2387149-v1a-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB2476687-v2a-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB2507618-v1a-x86-ENU.exe I also got a new (well, used but still) monitor so comparing two update.infs in WinMerge is much easier now than before on an old 17' CRT 1024x768 The current one is still a CRT but a 22' one with a diamontron tube
  5. The problem here is not the improper display but a bluescreen when starting the system after installing the Japanese version of this kernel. I'm going to give it a one more try this week For example, the English version v5 of BlackWingCat's kernel32 can be installed in a Polish system without any problems. If trying to do the same with the Japanese one, Windows does not boot.
  6. I made a 2a version of KB981852. The changes I made are only cosmetic - the catalog file from 979683 was added so WU won't ask for it when 981852 is installed, and I also fixed the name to make it clear which version it is. Actually the catalog from 979683 is present also in v2 but its name was changed to KB981852.cat. Now there are two catalogs inside - the original one from 981852 (XP version) and the one from 979683 Windows2000-KB981852-v2a-x86-ENU.exe @edit I did the same thing to 2079403. The catalog file from 955069 was added. Windows2000-KB2079403-v1a-x86-ENU.exe @edit 2 And 982214. The catalog from 971468 added. Windows2000-KB982214-v1a-x86-ENU.exe
  7. Build 7 is ready. There are 78 updates included I'll send it by PM to all people interested in testing.
  8. I sent you a test build 4 of Update Rollup 2 Please install it on a Windows 2000+SP4+UR1 system. It can be a virtual machine. It'd the best if no newer updates were installed. IE version doesn't matter. If anyone else is interested in testing, please write a message here or send me a PM. And please don't share the test builds as they are not finished and may not be stable.
  9. I wonder whether Gurgelmeyer shared his tool codenamed "Hotstream" which he used to merge multiple hotfixes into one. If anyone has it somewhere, please share it! I'm combining hotfixes manually so it takes a lot of time. I could do all the work much faster if I had that tool B)
  10. This project has been discontinued. Please check http://tomasz86.com and the Unofficial SP 5.2 for Windows 2000 thread for more information.
  11. In the end I decided to leave everything as Microsoft set it. But thank you anyway for useful information
  12. HBR Mini Rollup is fully compatible with HFSLIP and should be copied into the HF folder when slipstreaming. Apparently I haven't mentioned it before Also as you can see the topic was moved to the Hotstream sub-forum as it's very similar to what Gurgelmeyer was doing in the past so it will probably be better to have everything in one place.
  13. This is the newest (Dec 2010) unofficial Time Zone update for Windows 2000 Windows2000-KB2443685-x86-ENU.exe
  14. I did some more tests with the web cam mentioned earlier and it's not the hotfix (838417) to cause the problems :/ so the drivers are probably buggy as I thought initially.
  15. I'll write in "Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003" then By the way, I'd like to ask you an another question... I've made a HBR Mini Rollup and placed it in "Windows NT4/2000/2003" forum. I'm planning to do more this style of packages later on. Is is the proper subforum for this kind of projects? In the beginning I was actually thinking it should be placed in Gurglemeyer's section as the idea of such updates/rollups/service packs is very similar to what he was doing.
  16. Thank you for such a quick reply In a few days I'll probably make a thread about it in the "Windows NT4/2000/2003" forum. I'll send you a link then
  17. I have a question about modifying and redistributing HFSLIP's code here. To be exact: I'm working on an updated version for Windows 2000 only. It includes/will include fixes and changes in order to work correctly with the new unofficial updates and other unofficial packs that were produced and more that are being/will be produced in the future. As I use w2k only I'll probably have to remove the compatibility with other systems as I will just be unable to test how my changes influence them. I'm basing my project on the HFSLIP 1.9.10Jv4. It's not available publicly at the moment but I'd like to make it public as more fixes and changes are added. So this is my question: would links to such a version be removed from this forum?
  18. Thanks for the tip I'll change the URL in the next version of the HBR Rollup.
  19. I added a string to HFSLIP which solves the issue with FDV files and updates which use the xpsp2_binarydrop folder. I'll make it it public after having done some more tests
  20. Actually there aren't many free partition programs for a server version of Windows. gParted might be O.K. for most people but forget about it if your hard disk is connected to an external PCI/PCI-E controller. I tried using it with my LSI Logic PCI-E SAS controller and it couldn't even find any drives connected to it.
  21. Just use one of the two lists and change language to French before downloading the updates http://www.vorck.com/windows/hotfixes_xp.html or http://freenet-homepage.de/MisterMoster/hfslip.htm Of course it's not automated as WUD but it's probably the only way to download the most recent updates as lists in languages other than English are usually outdated.
  22. WildBill, I have one suggestion for you It's just a cosmetic thing but still In strings section there is something like this (example taken from 2479628). HelpLink = "http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=2479628" URLInfoAbout = http://support.microsoft.com How about changing the URLInfoAbout from MS to " I did it for my HBR Mini Rollup: HelpLink = "http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/151551-hbr-mini-rollup/" URLInfoAbout = http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/151551-hbr-mini-rollup/
  23. V3 uploaded. KB843503 was added again and KB836111 was added for the first time
  24. Thank you once again for very useful information 838989 is a public update so it won't be integrated in this Rollup but I'd be good to have it listed on bristols'.
  25. As for the chipset used by both of these mainboards, there are official Intel drivers available for Windows 2000.
