  2. There's no system restore in Win98, only in WinME and WinXP. Run an online virus scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com A re-install of Windows 98 over on top should help too.
  3. You don't need to open it, you're not running an FTP Server, and don't need to in order to upload files. If NTL were capping your uploads, you wouldn't have been able to post on these boards, upload data is sent to make requests to load pages.
  4. Duplicates deleted, moved to Websites and Boards. PM sent
  5. This is a good reference for CSS code: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
  6. All you have to do is follow the instructions at: http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=3263 The article is slightly dated though, in the directory path you'll see "youremail@address", but now it's a unique number ID. Moved from General Discussion
  7. <style type="text/css"> <!-- body {background-image: url('images/bg.jpg'); background-repeat: repeat-y; font-family: verdana, helvetica; font-size: 11px; color: #dedede; } td {font-family: verdana, helvetica; font-size: 11px; color: #dedede; } .carea {line-height: 15px; } a:visited {color: #BDBDBD; text-decoration: none; } a:link {color: #BDBDBD; text-decoration: none; } a:hover {color: #3D6292; text-decoration: none; } --> </style> I don't know why you're using <!-- comment tags in your style code?
  8. I like that case, slightly has a bit of an Antec/Chieftec feel to it though Will the case door shut if I have extra mods in my 5.25 drive bay, such as the fan control and cpu temp gadgets from Vantec? Because the fan control knobs will stick out a bit.
  9. I'm trying to finalise the PC specs that I'm going to buy and build in 3 weeks time. Here's the specs in full: 3.0GHz Intel Pentium 4 (800MHz FSB) HT Enermax Whisper EG465AX-VE 460W ATX Power Supply Abit Canterwood IC7-G MaxII Advance Motherboard Corsair 1GB DualDDR XMS3200 TwinX (400MHz) (2x512MB Modules) Hercules 3D Prophet 9800 Pro 128MB DDR Creative SB Live! Platinum 5.1 (from older PC) 60GB Maxtor 7,200rpm 200GB Wester Digital Caviar 7200rpm 8MB Cache Pioneer DVD-120S Slot DVD-ROM LiteOn LTR-52246S 52x/24x/52x CD-RW Floorstanding Stereo Speakers with Amplifier Logitech MX 700 Cordless Optical Mouse Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard Special Edition I'm still undecided on the whole CRT/TFT Monitor thing, should I get a 17" TFT, or a 19" CRT? (I would have definitely gone for a CRT if I wasn't going to the LAN party at the end of august), and I'm still unsure about gaming on TFTs despite what others have said. For the case, I'm still looking at Coolermaster/Lian Li branded ones, they look good. I also probably won't buy a DVD rewriter until all the DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW formats have reached 8x or so. Anything else I've missed out? I'll need a static band too (got a carpeted floor at home) but don't know anywhere that's selling it. As well as some cabling straps to keep power cables to the sides of the cases and round them up etc.
  10. On your XP Home CD, copy the following files: DFRG.IN_ DFRG.MS_ DFRGFAT.EX_ DFRGNTFS.EX_ DFRGRES.DL_ DFRGSNAP.DL_ DFRGUI.DL_ to C:\Defrag\ (make this directory) Open up command prompt (start > run > cmd) Type the following: expand c:\defrag\DFRG.IN_ c:\defrag\DFRG.INF do the same process for the rest of the files MS_ = MSC EX_ = EXE DL_ = DLL All the files should now be extracted in c:\defrag\ Right click the inf file and select install. Recreate shortcut if it hasn't appeared.
  11. I haven't been able to find any freeware apps that would convert the cluster size, all of them are demonstrations If you do have the time, you should copy all your files from your Maxtor 40 GB hard drive (they're only program files, nothing like system files is there?) to another source, via network or another hard drive. Then reformat the 40GB with a cluster size of 4k, and copy all your program files back on. It should work that way providing crucial OS files isn't stored on the 40GB
  12. Did you apply for the beta? http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=3930
  13. Welcome to MSFN jay!
  14. Yes, one of you with the fastest upload bandwidth should act as a server (hosting a multiplayer game)
  15. But have you tried this yet?
  16. bit late: http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=4151
  17. Download and extract: dxsetup.zip Its been hex-edited to accept the /opk switch, but I don't know what was edited. This file came from http://unattended.netfirms.com, which isn't there anymore. Don't use this on an unattended Windows 2000 install, it made a mess of things for me.
  18. You can get viruses from trusted sources as well, even Microsoft had a virus in one of their windows patches that happened last year.
  19. It works, using the registry tweaks batch I've disable the Messenger Service, Remote Registry, Print Spooler, and the IMAPI CD-ROM Burning service. Upon fully booting up these services are disabled as instructed by the registry hacks.
  20. Maybe they don't want their plans for building up weapons to go wrong, so they attack off any threats
  21. This contains the W32.Pinfi Virus, was this accidental? It cleaned ok though
  22. Do you mean Fast User Switching?
  23. They're discussing it with Hollywood atm, but its early days yet and nothing concrete. http://www.MSFN.org/comments.php?id=4118
