  1. SP 2.0 Beta 3 has partial support for slipstreaming. I call it as "semi-slipstreaming". I explained it here.
  2. I think one of the USB-related hot-fixes causes this problem. Can you write your USB drive's details (brand-model)? Do you have latest drivers for your USB drive and for your mainboard?
  3. erpdude8, 2.0b3 includes rsaenh.dll as instrsa.dll. Because, Windows 98 SE original CABs include this file as instrsa.dll. I renamed it for better support for slipstreaming.
  4. Wupdmgr.exe didn't included because of 98lite Sleek compatibility. GDI*.* files are exactly same versions from the hot-fix. I didn't modify their dates. All other files will be in the 2.0.
  5. Restorator is a commercial (not-free) product.
  6. Because modifiying icons change the size of the file, and that prevents to make the patcher.
  7. Thanks MDGx, So, I will remove RBUPDATE, and I will add this newer update for 2.0 FINAL. (Expected release date 1-2 February.) I have a question for all: I think I'll add new desktop icons feature as a seperate DLL, and it will be optional. What do you think? Is it OK?
  8. Why not? I don't know what happens if newer file gets copied. but Microsoft made this RBUPDATE, I didn't make it
  9. OK RBUPDATE has two versions of MSDAIP.DLL. One of them is for Windows 98 SE with Office 2000 or XP installed, the other is for Windows 98 SE without Office 2000 or XP installed. It contains a detection utility for installing the proper version. Semi-slipstreaming support (as I explained before, nothing changed) is for slipstreaming most of the hot-fixes into Windows 98 SE setup. If you extract the contents of the SP2.CAB into your Windows 98 SE setup folder, Windows's setup will use these fixed and newer files during installation. I called it "semi", because it only contains the hot-fixes only, not contains all features of the SP.
  10. Rbupdate has a detection utility and two different versions of MSDAIP.DLL. It installs proper version. SP2.CAB contains one of them for semi-slipstreaming support.
  11. PowerArchiver 6.11 Update is now useless because of new RAR (v3) and 7z formats. I recommend some other freeware ZIP suites such as TUGZip, IZArc... About Notepad problem: SP only patches Notepad.exe if it is original "Notepad.exe". Perhaps your Notepad.exe has different from original Windows 98 SE English Notepad.exe.
  12. WebMatze: Send it please via email. Thanks!
  13. @azagahl: 2.0 Beta 3 is quite stable, I have found some minor cosmetic bugs so far. @cozetti: Good! @hp38guser: It is not a problem, they are installed by other files (for example: MSDAIPP.DLL is installed by RBUPDATE.EXE). For slipstreaming support, they are in the SP2.CAB, too. @mkjp: Do you have English version? Are you using 98lite?
  14. Thanks for this French Version, WebMatze!
  15. @cozetti 2.0 (BETA 3) has lots of new hot-fixes. Maybe some of them are not compatible with Spanish version. What is your installation order? Win98 -> SP2.0B3 -> Shell Swap? I think, Win98 -> Shell Swap -> SP 2.0B3 should be better.
  16. I will maintain only English version of SP. I will not make any localized version of SP. But other contributors can make localized versions. I do support them. So if you have basic knowledge about INF and BATCH files, you can do a French version. After releasing 2.0 FINAL, I will write a detailed localization guide on this forum.
  17. Use 2.0 BETA 3. BETA 2 doesn't support "shell swap". Check/install "MS Crypto. Providers" on the optional components for preventing "UpdCrl" error. I tested only 98lite 4.7. But I think 98lite 4.5/4.6/4.7 should work with BETA 3.
  18. All, I recommend that you should try this BETA on a test system, or on VirtualPC, or on VMWare. Especially, I couldn't test 98lite Sleek support and Uninstallation support very well. If you install it with or without problems, please write on this topic. Please, don't write any new feature request for this version. All new feature requests should be for 2.1. Special thanks to: MDGx, erpdude, CLASYS, Tarun, safir, hp38guser, DanyBoss, swgreed, egorz, sybesma, Rob, DuckDaffy, and all other contributors. If I missed your name, please PM me, because I will add a "thanks" section into 2.0 FINAL.
  19. This is a problem of SP 1.6.2 and fixed in 2.0 BETA 3.
  20. I have just completed BETA 3. Sorry, but I have to call it as BETA. Because, it has lots of new hot-fixes and "New Desktop Icons" feature doesn't exist. But, all other announced features are OK such as Better Notepad, Uninstallation, 98lite Sleek support. I'm testing it now. I hope I will release it tomorrow. I need web space for upload. If anyone has space for the SP, could he contact me via email?
  21. I will start to work on SP again in this weekend. B)
  22. 2.0 Beta 2 does not have uninstallation support. It is a BETA. Of course, the final version will have uninstallation support.
  23. Windows 9x and Windows ME only supports maximum 1 GB RAM internally. For example, if you have 2 GB RAM, you can only use 1 GB of it. There are also two situations about this limit: 1- VCache problem on 512 MB or more RAM. (It can be solved by adding line into SYSTEM.INI). 2- More than 1 GB RAM problem. (It can be solved by adding line into SYSTEM.INI or with MSCONFIG). SP fixes both of problems by adding these lines.
  24. I'm a Linux fan. I have a P-IV laptop which has Fedora Linux Core 3. My home system is a Celeron with 256 MB RAM. It has Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000. The development of SP is on this system.
