  1. bumpity bump.
  2. this question was answered earlier:
  3. ok, i found some: ;My Docs Expands in Start Menu [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "Start_ShowMyDocs"=dword:00000002 "CascadeMyDocuments"="YES" ;Show Statusbar in all windows [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] "StatusBarOther"=dword:00000001 ;This disables the screensaver [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop] "ScreenSaveActive"="0" I'm still missing: - "You are about to view pages over a secure connection" - Do not show this warning - "Privacy" - "The privacy icon appears in the status bar each time a cookie is resticted based on your privacy settings" - do not show and this one doesn't seem to work: ;Remove the 'Shortcut to...' (00 00 00 00 = No Shortcut Text) [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer] "link"=hex:00,00,00,00
  4. ;----- Don't accept shortcuts that splat themselves all over Windows [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Setup\UserOptions] "DesktopShortcut"="no" "QuickLaunchShortcut"="no" can someone explain this? is this disabling EVERY setup from creating shortcut icons on the desktop and quicklaunch, but allowing them on start menu? what types of setups are effected by this?
  5. why? is it a different program? did microsoft change something? what do those commands do, anyway? (i got the original code from this website...) Try reading the page Oh man, I don't know how I missed that. Sorry! Thanks for the help!
  6. there are two start menus. AllUsers and CurrentUser. I am assuming you want you shortcuts placed into AllUsers. this may not be the most efficient method, but what you can do is: Place your folder "StartMenu" in $OEM$\$1\Install, and make sure to place all your configured shortcuts in a folder called "Programs" (or anything you want to call it)
  7. why? is it a different program? did microsoft change something? what do those commands do, anyway? (i got the original code from this website...)
  8. Huh? Did you replace the shutdown command or something? Or am I misunderstanding? (I have not tested your hotfixes yet, but I have a shutdown parameter in my cleanup.cmd: shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 1 minute..." are you saying i have to change this?
  9. Does it matter WHERE in DOSNET.INF and TXTSETUP.SIF I put those lines? Is it OK if I put your new lines FIRST, before all the code that was already there?
  10. I hate to sound ungrateful, because I LOVE this version of WPI, but I must bring up another version: WPI_99 by hasi001 It does not have all the features i love from YOUR WPI, but he managed to get up to 99 programs (!!!!) WITHOUT NUMBERING, and WITH TOOLTIPS!!! Do you think you could take his version and add those features i listed above to yours? that would be really useful....
  11. Hi, I can't seem to find these regtweaks, can anyone help? - view status bar in explorer (solved) - expand my documents on Start Menu (solved) - remove "shortcut to" in title of created shortcuts - the one i have (below) doesn't work - "You are about to view pages over a secure connection" - Do not show this warning - "Privacy" - "The privacy icon appears in the status bar each time a cookie is resticted based on your privacy settings" - do not show
  12. thanks, improvements are ALWAYS welcome! (updated first post)
  13. hear, hear! it's taking me forever to do everything by hand, but i am getting closer and closer to my perfect CD.
  14. so, would this be correct? %systemdrive%\install\Applications\easycd6\ECDC6.msi /qr ADDLOCAL=ECDC6,CreatorApps,PMStudio REBOOT=Suppress REBOOTPROMPT=S and do you think this would solve my problem with the program installations overlapping?
  15. well, first of all, i don't personally use RunOnceEx, so I can't check that part (I use WPI). however, the rest of your code SEEMS ok.... ASSUMING, of course, that you renamed the included file AIMInstall.cmd to AIMSoftware.cmd, and that, of course, your paths are correct? If that's correct, then I'd say make sure your RunOnceEx is correct.
  16. bump anyone know the answer to my question in the previous post?
  17. aha! GREAT! I removed the unwanted lines, and now it works PERFECTLY! (Even forces the user to imput new nick/alternate nick) Thanks!!!
  18. I need help with Easy CD Creator 6. When I'm installing it with WPI, it will get to about half way done, and another application will start installing. Sometimes it won't let the next applicaiton install because Easy CD Creator isn't finished. Is there a way I could make ECDC 6 finish installing before the next application starts? I'm using the following code: %systemdrive%\install\Applications\easycd6\SETUP.EXE /s /v"/qr ADDLOCAL=ECDC6,CreatorApps,PMStudio REBOOT=Suppress REBOOTPROMPT=S" I am thinking that using ECDC6.msi would be easier for me. But if I use the ECDC6.msi, can I still specify which parts to install? (Like the ADDLOCAL key above?)
  19. works great! can i delete any lines i don't want, but still allow it to work? i don't want every installation to have my username/ip/etc.
  20. thank you both!
  21. can SAV9 be used as a stand-alone "home" version? I would like to use it (MUCH easier for Unattended installs), but I have to know that it is both AS POWERFUL, and EASILY UPDATED as norton. (for example, I know every so often NAV will give a pop-up to update virus defs. will SAV also?)
  22. bump
  23. Hello, I am confused as to the differences between Symantec AntiVirus (v9) and Symantec Norton AntiVirus (2005). Are both updated/secure/reliable virusscans? Do either of them have features that the other does NOT have? I have, in the past, used NAV, but I just got SAV to see it, and it appears (to my untrained eye) to be NAV without the eye-candy. Is this the only difference? Does SAV auto-update the virusdefs like NAV? Or do I have to manually start LiveUpdate to get the processes started? Is it OK to use SAV on a single home computer? Sorry if this is a little off-topic but it is important for me to understand the differences between these two products. Thanks!!
  24. I'm who needs to do something, really. If you downloaded the MSP mentioned in the guide, then this is the problem. It's not for your version. so i'm already "updated"? also, slightly off-topic: does symantec antivirus automatically run liveupdate like nav does? or do i have to run it manually? ( i dont mean the first time, i mean in general)
