  1. Work through this site: Unattend There are different ways, thats why you might be confused. You can use the following methods: through batch job (old method) runonce method Post install wizzards ( there are many : search WPI, ktool etc...) The above site i listed gave a lot of detail on old batch method as well as the runonce method. Depending on the method you are going to use, there are some nice setuptools available. First you need to make a decision to the method you are going to use and then only dig in deeper. If you still need help you can PM me. I know what is feels like just getting started with this . It can drive you crazy. there are however always some dudes who are willing to give a helping hand but then there are also those who do not have any patience with new dudes. Just ignore them and keep on asking questions and disregard those really nasty answers you sometimes get. Luckily I had an awesome dude who was willing to spend some time with me, and therefore I will try and help.
  2. In therory there is no difference. With the unattend install the file is compressed and file extension is .dl_ When you install the file get extracted and the file extention will be .dll. the dll file is much larger than the dl_ file..... Hoverhead
  3. Dudes I need help with startmenu layout. I have searched and did not find help or I must have. If this have been covered can someone please point me in a direction. I have completed my unattend install. Everything works great and my add on programs (nero, clonecd, winzip etc...) also install silently. I use batch command method. As you know these applications is also on the startmenu. I normally would like them grouped. So after the install I need to rearrange the startmenu. As an example I create a folder called "utilities-copy" under all users\start menu\programs and then move the startmenu shortcuts of my copy applications to this utilities folder. How can I delete the startmenu after the installation and then copy over a preset startmenu as I would normally want it. My current Idea is to have a Start menu on the CD and after the installation delete the startmenu on computer and then copy the startmenu from the CD that has already been set-up the way I want it. The specific help I need is on the following. a) The batch command I must use to copy the startmenu\program from the CD. I guess i need to use XCOPY command because I want to copy the whole directory and everything under the startmenu\program directory. How do I do that. B) I you feel I must do rather put it under $OEM$\$1 folder to be copied to harddrive and then at first run gui from the hardrive folder to replace the startmenu, what is the batch commands I must use to copy the whole startmenu\programs directory to replace the standard one. I need the specific command to include in the install batch command file. As you will notice I am NOT a programmer and I do need specific batch commands and how to use them in my INSTALL batch command file. Apart from the above please help me with the batch command to copy a directory plus the files under that directory from one source to destination. c) If my idea to replace the startmenu is way off coarse and there is another or easier method to replace the start menu \ programs with a preset startmenu \programs please let me know how I can do it. 10x so long
  4. Dudes, help me with the batch code I can use for doing the following. It might be very stupid question to you but I do not have any coding background. During unattend install, at the stage where I install my programs, I want to do the following. After a program has been installed I want to copy a specific file from my CD to the folder where the program has been installed. On my cd the file (named AAA) will be placed in the following folder: $oem$\$s1$\Install\Application\ABC\ I Want this file named AAA be copied to c:\programs\ABC\ after the program has been installed. What will the code be to use in my batch file.
  5. Dudes: yeah you are right about the gremlin with "add registry entry to right click" Here is the correct one. I tested this one and it is working. ;----- ;----- Adds Registry Editor right click of MY Computer ;----- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\regedit] @="Registry Editor" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\regedit\command] @="c:\\windows\\Regedit.exe" Dont add the first line part with the Hex2 part.... This one: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}] "LocalizedString"=hex(2):25,55,53,45,52,4e,41,4d,45,25,27,73,20,43,6f,6d,70,75,74,65,72,00 To get rid of the blocks r. Just delete that the first line of the old tweak (the localicedstring one) out of your registry and your computor name will be back to "my computor" and the regediter will still work on right click of "my computer" I refer to this : DELETE OUT OF REGISTRY if you have used this old tweak and your computor name is "blocks r" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}] "LocalizedString"=hex(2):25,55,53,45,52,4e,41,4d,45,25,27,73,20,43,6f,6d,70,75,74,65,72,00 Chiao

When you have updated the files let us know so that we can have only one database. Chiao additional_registries.txt

  9. Magic dude.... I dont know about the Italian version... As I understand it will work ONLY with the English version. I use the English version and it is working GREAT in the English version ... So be carefull. However to play it safe use the UXTheme_Multi_Patcher__Neowinn_Edition patcher and patch it yourself. This patcher do work on ALL versions. I have used this patcher on XP, XP SP1 as well as XP SP2, and I have had no problems with any version. Download the "Neowin_Patcher" patcher and rather use that. You can find file under themes.belchfire site. If you cant find it PM me with your mail address and i will send it to you. If you are going to use the above files rather FIRST make a backup of your std XP uxtheme.dll file first before dropping in these files.... Just to play it safe.. Keep well in Italy.. where are you situated in Italy.. My roots is also in Italy. Chiao
  10. This file is for normal patching of Uxtheme.dll for XP SP2 NOTE: DO NOT use this file for unattend install. It do not work in unattend install. uxtheme_SP2_normal_patch.zip

  13. Which XP do you use. the patched Uxtheme.dll must be according to your Xp version you use. Do you have XP home, XP professional, XP Pro + SP1, or XP Pro + SP2. Send me a PM with your mail address and I will send you all the Pacthed DLL's as well as a Small Patch utility program If you want to patch it yourself. All the Patched versions I have have been tested and work 100%. I have never had a problem with these I have. The utility program is also great. The name is neowwin uxtheme patcher. Work awesome... on ALL versions of XP and different XP service packs..! I can send you the files or you can download..
