  1. Thank you
  2. It is not controversial at all. I just wanted to be direct in my answers (without wanting to be controversial either). Your post makes a lot of sense, and I know many people here agree. The thing is that the XPize code has reached a state that it is a pain to maintain. So I started Vize to see how well a shell pack written in C# would work. For now, Vize is working like a charm, so I will be soon porting XPize to C# too. XPize in NSIS is not fun anymore for me.
  3. "concentrate all your efforts on XPize": I've been doing that for 3 years now "getting it finished completely": I think that XPize is the example of a program that cannot be finished. I always have to deal with new old resources, new updated MS software, new 3rd party apps, etc... Anyway, who said XPize is gonna die? I plan rewritting it in C#, to be more versatile and powerfull without all the limitations of NSIS.
  4. No idea mate, I have little time to work on my things and now Vize is here too I think that 2 weeks will be enough, not sure though.
  5. If it is not too much work for you, try always to make a new ISO for every new XPize version. that's the safe way.
  6. Description Vize Basic is a GUI enhancer for Windows Vista. It replaces most of the non-Vista icons, animations and bitmaps that Microsoft is still overlooking. Vize automates the process of replacing resources in system files, applying the real fit and finish to Windows Vista. The patching process will not disable Vista's built-in security features. Vize will automatically restore all files and folder permissions, making your Vista experience nicer without sacrificing security. Screenshots Additional Information Vize will update almost all the old resources left in Vista, including the famous "Previous Versions" icon. Availability First Beta version due to mid September.
  7. The syntax of "patch.exe system32.dll -replace bitmap\10240 c:\temp\sytem32.dll\bitmap\10240.bmp" looks good to me, but it is important to have batch support, like reshacker scripts, so I dont have to be calling in my C# code the patcher app for every resource that needs to be applied (that config file in the blogger post looks good to). Another possibility (likely impossible) would be to have a DLL library API which I can use with my C# code, but I dont know if thats OK with the creator of the patcher. Anyway, this is looking very good and promising. Many thanks go to -I- for bringing light to x64 support of XPize and Vize.

  16. It is not that I dont want to help, it is that I cant help you + all other people wanting to create shell packs using XPize source. I would have to make a hundred clones of myself to do that. Understand?
  17. Locked by request.
  18. If someone else wants to help out, thats ok with me. But please, try to read and unserstand the code before posting.

  21. For now 32-bit only because I have to use Reshacker Hopefully, there is a guy at TheCodeProject which is going to release a C# library for dealing with icons, but I dont know when.
  22. Hi all, I've just started to work in my next big project called "Vize". As you can imagine, Vize is for Vista what XPize is for XP. My plans are to run away from NSIS and develop it completely in C#. I'm almost done with the patcher core, and I would like it to be tested on several Vista machines. I would like to have from 3 to 5 testers, which will continue to test Vize internally till first alpha or beta public release. A Vize tester must meet the following requirements: - He/she knows Vista, likes it and prefers it over XP. - He/she knows XPize, he has used it extensively and wants Vize to have at least the same success. - He/she has a secondary computer or VMWare / Virtual PC installed. - He/she knows how to find and report bugs, giving as much info as he can. If you want to become a Vize tester, please PM me. I will select 3 to 5 and will let them know via PM. Thanks for your help and interest in advance.
  23. It works here...try again.
