bit of a bump there XtremeMaC lol. hmm, never seen this prog, i'll definenlty give it a try. * * *EDIT!* in my Opinion this program SUCKS! lol. it was a 30 day trial (can't expect all software to be free so, eh) upon restart i couldn't shut down the talisman program *had to go back to my default settings for a minute* withouth doing ctrl + alt + delete. then had to re run explorer by hitting ctrl alt delete and hitting file -> run -> explorer.exe. upon reboot again to give it a try it took my computer 20 seconds longer to display the program and everything... some of the themes have winamp and other media player capabilities.. on hitting volume up or down it takes a second before the program draws the new bar.. hit ctrl + alt + delete to check how much CPU usage it was using and came across "ldialer.exe" which at first you can suspect i though it was a dialer lol. since i don't have a modem installe din my computer i wasn't worried but its part of Talisman Ldialer Forum so ran the uninstaller hit ctrl +alt +delete to run explorer.exe again and here i am making this post... hope it didn't screw up my computer but guess i find that out when i reboot. :thumbdown However, i must say it is a very good idea but maybe in a couple more releases i may check it out again.. if it still sucks i won't be checking it again.

lol i knew it would haunt me sooner or later.. but it was the answer to life. what started the universe and if there was life on other planets.... and who really killed JFK. na, it was "THANK YOU" lol. but after i looked through it i noticed that if i used 8 gigs in the equation it came back with 1,111 Kbps lol. so i removed it so people knew i still needed help anyways... you probably don't have a cap.. i hit right around 425 Kbps on Comcast when i downloaded Linux before. so it was about 20 minutes per CD (was like 550 megs each CD) and i never hit any caps.. plus i downloaded a couple game demos and was hosting ventrilo and a webserver. so you probably don't have anything to worry about.

/declare XtremeMaC the winner and yea i understand that since you explained everything @sven i got a ti-86 calculator lol but i should be able to make my program with the data that XtremeMaC provided. but i also think DaLurker is correct, cause even if the file is 20 gigs, if i go right around 70 kbps i'll just narrowly hit my cap every 2 hours.. thats if its all the bandwidth to the download without any downloads of webpages, so i' would still have to lower my speed some more to like 45 Kbps during the day time when my dad and i are net surfinf then up it back to 70 when i'm sleeping..

@XtremeMaC na, this isn't computer settings or server settings.. as soon as the cap is hit ALL computers on my network slow to a halt. not router problem either nor modem. its the crappy ISP capping. I used a program called RegShot 1.7 (freeware) and it changed the following keys.. but their all in hex so i don't know which key it changed exactly... nope lol but from what i understand, i'm guessing you want to be able to browse you "my pictures" and when you see a picture to set it as the desktop? you could double click it and it'll bring up the "windows and fax viewer" program then just right click the picture and hit set to desktop...

I would say remove the key from the winnt.sif but what would happen is it would ask for the key then install windows..

I'm not sure about a monthly or weekly cap as i don't download large files to much.. but i was downloading the Linux RedHat CDs at about 150 Kbps i hit my cap and the speed went down to 5 Kbps... i decided ok i'll just leave it until the hour is up then it'll speed back up. but for some reason if i don't use a download manager the files time out and it cancles the download. so basically what happens is... 1. I start Downloading about 800 megs 2. I hit 500 megs before 2 hours is up and the ISP caps my speed 3. All of my computers on my network can no longer download higher then 10 kbps. 4. 1 hours passes since i got capped 5. Downloads speed back up to normal. so basically what i want is.. 1. to be able to type 800 megs into my program 2. hit calculate and it tells me like 100 Kbps (dunno exact number bear with me) 3. so i limit my max speed to 100 Kbps and start downloading. 4. in 2 hours i should be right under the 500 meg limit lets call it i downloaded 400megs. 5. my ISP shoudn't Cap me since i haven't hit the cap in 2 hours. and the clock resets... 6. my download finishes in about another 2 hours meanwhile my dad and i get 100 megs worth of bandwidth to go internet browsing during this time...
