anyone? btw, this is windows XP Home Upgrade...

Stupid short titles... lol. Windows XP Upgrade CD "Setup cannot find a previous version of Windows installed on your computer" Error message... so... my friend has a windows XP upgrade CD. we argue for about 30 minutes that you cannot turn a Upgrade CD into an completly unattended CD.. the error that we get when we try to install is: now, i've done some research in this and all i have found is that if you take out the CD at this message, insert a retail CD of an older OS (which he has, windows ME), then hit enter and put back in the Upgrade CD it will install XP without the need of having another OS preinstalled. not sure how winnt.sif and all those files are handled yet thats tomarrows goal lol. so... my main question is... Can an Upgrade Windows XP CD be turned into Unattended? without the CD swap... thats gonna be very annoying for him having to carry around 2 CDs to restore.. thanks Bi0haZarD

I'm about 85% sure that is whats causing it... There are actually other settings: /NoExecute=OptIn (enables DEP for Windows system files) /NoExecute=OptOut (enables systemwide DEP) /NoExecute=AlwaysOn (enables systemwide DEP without possibility of individual application exclusion) /NoExecute=AlwaysOff (disables DEP completely) you probably have it set to /NoExecute=AlwaysOn but you should set it to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff if that doesn't fix it post here and i'll look it up more. good luck.

yea, i got it workin since you suplied the necessary files. but i haven't had a problem with it except for the buddy list half icon bug...

may i ask whats wrong with.. C:\Documents and Settings\*username*\SendTo just put a shortcut to whichever folder and it should work. as for windows Me, 98,95 i believe the folder was C:\Windows\Send To

Tarun, if you may.. whats the problem with having the LSP broken as you said.. I've had X-Fire Installed for about 8 months now and haven't had a single problem even though in Hijack this i saw the O10 LSP blah blah blah line i just ignored it.... *sorry to kinda sway this topic off topic...*

Tarun is right, but i still use Xfire lol. even with the LSP problem, i haven't noticed anything wrong since i've used Xfire.

only possible way i see this, is if you used Win32Dasm and made a patch program in like C++ to change it... its a bit much in my opinion, and you would have to disassemble every program you want to change... I'm pretty sure the "tooltips" are programmed directly in the source so things like resource hacker may not be able to change it.. i could be wrong.. *opens QTTask.exe in Resource hacker now*

I agree with crahak, I could put one of those flawed Jpegs as my signature and anyone that viewed this post would get infected... so even though MSFN is a trusted site, by me having my signature a flawed jpeg wouldn't make it a safe site. if that made sence.. lol.

I bought my BTC 4816IM combo drive about 2 years ago.. it worked fine until about 12 months ago (I was lazy never really looked into it) so I got bored today and decided hell its over the warranty, i tried re-flashing it with the latest firmware 12 months ago so i took it out of my computer and opened it. (I'm not an electronic newbie.. i know what i'm doing for the most part ) so anyone have any idea about why this may have happened, It reads CDs fine but just can't write CDs or Read DVDs. I just re-flashed it again today. and nothing changed. I heard that it may be out of focus.. but its 1 laser.. i don't see how it could be out of focus if it still reads CDs.... Thanks *hmm.. maybe i should've picked a better title......*

AIM.. although i'm having problems with it I gotta have DMZ enabled on my computer or i get disconnected around every 20 minutes..

lol, its F8 before the windows XP screen goes by. i'm guessing your doing a system restore, so i guess that should fix your problem
