  1. Hi, My WinXP Pro cd came from MS with SP1 installed on it. So, as I am setting up an unattended CD, I see that I am missing some hotfixes. I dont really want to mess with the "factory installed" svcpack.inf file as it works just fine as is. My "factory installed" svcpack.inf file is called "SVCPACK.IN_" & "SVCPACK.DL_". The code from "SVCPACK.IN_" is: (not sure what all the jiberish is) MSCF î , H ‰ õ*kr svcpack.inf ±«»Ôž ‰ [€€? 0?~ 1 [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" [SetupData] CatalogSubDir="i386\hotfixes" [ProductCatalogsToInstall] [SetupHotfixesToRun] There is no "I386\hotfixes" folder, so maybe I can just delete the "SVCPACK.IN_" file? Then I could make my own? Since I am currently installing WMP9 & DirectX9 through my start.cmd file, it occured to me that maybe i could install all the hotfixes through this file & leave my svcpack.inf file alone. Any ideas on what makes the most sense? Rich
  2. Hi all, While my unattended install cd seems to work ok, I was hoping for some pointers to make it better. Please let me know if something is missing that is important, or something is there that doesnt make sense. I am using a start.cmd file but I plan to try out the Runonceex method shortly. ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes UnattendSwitch="Yes" TargetPath=\WINDOWS WaitForReboot="No" KeyboardLayout="US" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_Chipset;Drivers\Via\Inf\Winxp;Drivers\Via\IDEWinXP;Drivers\Via\WinXP;Drivers\Via\Agp;DRIVERS\SND\A;DRIVERS\SND\C;DRIVERS\SND\CR;DRIVERS\SND\CR\L;DRIVERS\SND\N;DRIVERS\SND\R;DRIVERS\SND\S;DRIVERS\SND\T\A;DRIVERS\SND\T\D;DRIVERS\SND\V\E;DRIVERS\SND\V\V;Drivers\006_Sound\AD1980;Drivers\006_Sound\AD1985;Drivers\006_Sound\AD1919;Drivers\006_Sound\ALC65X;Drivers\001_LAN;Drivers\001_LAN\Pro1000;Drivers\001_LAN\5702;Drivers\002_AGP;Drivers\sv25;Drivers\vmware;Drivers\004_MemCtl;Drivers\005_IDE;Drivers\006_Sound;Drivers\007_SMBus;Drivers\Printer\HP\PCL5e;Drivers\Printer\HP\PCL6;Drivers\Printer\HP\xpdot4inf" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductKey=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx FullName="User" OrgName="None" ComputerName=* [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=75 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 Dialing=Tone AreaCode=203 [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=www.excite.com [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=home [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off hearts=off minesweeper=off pinball=off spider=off zonegames=off [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes DefaultThemesOff = Yes [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\start.cmd
  3. Im not sure I understand how to do this. Should I copy the shortcut to the \$OEM$\$1\Install folder?
  4. Yep, that helps quite a bit actually. Thanks for the information, I thought the driverpack was giving me headaches. Thanks, Rich
  5. Hi, I am using the VMWare workstation to test my unattended install. I am also using the soundpack drivers from this site. I have an Audigy 2 in my system (that driver is in the driverpack) but the VMWare workstation seems to think that it is an "Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373)(WDM) device instead of the audigy 2. Any ideas what is causing that? Or how to fix it? I thought the audio from the workstation came from the host machine. Thanks, Rich
  6. Hi, I am having a problem. My unattended setup works fine, except that my test machine keeps defaultin to 640x480 instead of 1024x768. Any ideas why that isnt working? I seem to remember someone had some code to force a screen resolution in windows, but I cant seem to find it. Heres what I have: [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 I do not have a Vrefresh=XX added into my winnt.sif file because I dont know what to set it at. Is that my problem? Is it looking for a Vrefresh=XX setting? Thanks, Rich
  7. Hi, One of the things I do when I install windows manually is to add: c:\windows\explorer.scf To the quick launch area. I was curious, what commands would I need to get that added to my regtweaks.reg file or winnt.sif (or where ever it would go - btw regtweaks gets my vote). Anyway, I have done a bunch of reading & spent most of yesterday playing around & I am hooked. My first cd worked flawlessly (I admit I was very surprised) & I am now going to venture from the start.cmd style of installing to the RunOnceEx.cmd (looks great!). I will let ya all know how it goes. Anyway, I was just curious how to get the explorer.scf file up & running. Thanks, Rich
  8. Kevlee - Thanks for posting your winnt.sif file. The 4 in 1 & sound pack listings helped make it very easy for me to follow & implement in my own .
