filer.. you are beating him in game 2 and in nature. those 2 tests are very gpu intesive, but dont stress the cpu/fsb like game 1 and 3 do. plus your score seems a little low, 98xx with a softmodded 9500? my none overclocked score is almost 400 points more than yours with a ti4400... same cpu. you're missing a good amount of points somewhere. i dont think the 8x agp will help much. at this piont its only adding about 1-2% to over all 3d mark scores vs. 4x. O/C No O/C

Im Not A Network Admin, But I Play One At Work..
Porn Loader posted a topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
having some difficulties with roaming profiles(on a win2k server). i know its some small tiddly thing that i am forgetting, but im tired of beating my head against the wall. i set up a roaming profile for my self no probs (im the domain admin). but when i try to get a roaming profile for a user, it fails on login and loads a local profile. the path is fine, but they dont have the correct access rights. profile is saved to their home(h:) directory on the server, which the profile path points to. they can access their h: drive fine but the roaming profile wont load because of insufficient rights? profile path is as follows: \\server_name\d$\Users\user_name id like to figure out a way to do it w/o adding more rights to the user. id like to keep them locked down as much as possible. EDIT figured it out, just changed the profile path to \\servername\username$ adn it worked. -
i dont know crap about sql, but we are getting a server with ms sql 2000 sever. is there a major difference between the two (like between 98 and win2k?) or are they pretty similar? the reason i ask is... half price books has a moc admin training kit for sql 7.0 for $30. id like to pick it up if itll do me some good. thanks alll

depends on how many user accounts you have on the computer... if its only one user account, open up the control panel, click on user accounts, change account, remove password. that should work.

i know how to install the drivers, im just worried itll ask me for something i dont have. the NT box isnt on the network right now, but is getting put on. i can only have this machine down for about 15 minutes, because they use it constantly. my main worry was that it would want a nt disc/disk like 98 does whenever you install hardware. i dont have ANY of the orginial software. no NT discs, no manufacturer "recovery/system" discs. nothing. the only thing i hve is the driver disc for the nic...

how picky is NT 4.0 (i think its 4) when you add a NIC in? is it like 98 where it asks you for a cd? the machine being added to the network NEEDS to stay up and running ( its a chemical analysis system that dumps info into a whitebox pc). im very familiar with 98 2k and xp, but i have never touched a NT box before soooooo im being very cautious. dont want to kill this thing. plus we couldnt find any of the software discs that came with the pc. any helpful hints from you NT gurus?

just log in as Administrator with the admin password (the one you gave when setting up 2k).

we just got some new computers at work...one is being a b!%ch tho. you open up oe (ver. 6) and it will see the email server (localhost), then i get an error stating that the connection was unexpectedly terminated. possible causes listed were network activity(no other activity, i was the only one in the ofice), server is down (nope everyone elses oe works fine, including the one that i was replacing) or a lengthy time of inactivity on the server (?) . i exported his old oe sttings, then imported them to oe6. same thing, unexpected termination of the link. so i went thru and entered everything manually, same result. computer being replaced was a win98 w/ oe5, going to xp pro w/ oe6. the email server is a linux x-server. the new xp pro computer can ping the server, and browse the network w/o any problems. any ideas?

i was looking at some of that before i picked up my samsung. from what i heard it is awesome.. but kind of particular on what mobos it runs on. for some reason msi and asus boards pop into my head... but that was right when it was released.... -
the nvidia gf2 mx series cards are great cards..... unless you want to play games unfortunately... no, your vid card is "outdated" when it comes to gaming. not to say that you have a bad videocard, but the nvidia mx line has always been about $$$. cheap, easy, and runs most games pitifully. when the gf2 mx series came out, it was already behind the curve... but you can pickup a decent card for cheap.... newegg.com has geforce4 ti4200 (64meg) for about $120 before shipping. imo, id stay away from nvidias mx series cards in the future if you want to play games good luck edit i see that u are from the uk, i dont know where to buy there sorry..

had a similar problem with a kx7-333. i ordered it from newegg. board would power up, all fans running, but no video signal. monitor would just stay in standby. i was using a 300watt psu that came with my inwin (it was running a tbird 1.33, 2 sticks of ram, cdrom, cdrw, 1hdd, gf4, and 4 case fans.. should be more than enough power). so i run out and pick up a antec 330 truepower. same problem. no video signal. swapped video cards twice ( gf2ti, gf2 pro). still not running. take it over to my friends, plug everything in. it does the same thing on the 1st boot...... but after that it worked fine. hes had it for about 3 months now. he bought it from me, and i ordered a new kx7-333. install it, board posted fine, booted into xp first try. so i try re-install xp cause i was going from a kt133a to kt333..... xp doesnt recognize the drive (ibm 60 gxp). it would just chug. it took about 30 minutes to get to the eula..... my $300 upgrade turned into a $500 upgrade

i score a little less than 10100 with lod set to best performance in the adapter tab... if i use rivatuner and set the lod to 3.0, it does look like crap, but the highest ive seen on a non-overclocked score was 10185. you can get better scores by running the game tests 1 by 1 while changing the lod.. but i dont consider that a "default" benchmark.

sorry need to vent a lil... about 3 months ago i bought some singlesided samsung pc2700 (dtl,2 x 256megs). when i got it, i was impressed... it would do 172mhz at 2.5-2-5-2, with both sticks in. highest i got it was 188 after about 2 days burn in. now it wont even do 172 @ relaxed timings w/ full voltage... all i want is 12k in 3d benchmark2k1se.... is that too much to ask? i bought from newegg, and was hoping for ctl... but i guess i cant complain too much. it was only $85 a stick...

Post your AMD system temperatures in here.

my 1.33 tbird idles about 40c, and gets up around 46c when gaming with a 30c case temp. im running an alpha pal8045 w/ a ystech 36cfm fan. can barely here the cpu fan... but i do have 4x80 (40cfm) case fans... those i do hear unfortunately -
elite, i just set mine to best performance, and i break 10k. the lod hacks/cheats/whateveryouwant tocallthem only give about 100 point increase. and its much easier to just grab rivatuner than play with your drivers...
-
that you do fthrjack... try the 40.71's instead of the .72's... they should give you an extra 150-200 points. if my lowly tbird can break 10k default, your xp2100 should easily get there.

http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4697126 http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4366443 first one is a default w/o any overclocking, second is an older overclocked score, which isnt all that good.

zivan you do and dont have samsung ram then. they are samsung chips, but the memory modules themselves are not truly samsung. mine say : samsung m3 68l3223dtl-cb3 3545710e 256mb 8x(32mx8) ddr-sdram pc2700u-2533-700(cl2.5 upto 167mhz) (cl2 upto 133mhz)

do the memory chips themselves say samsung? its possible the pcb was made by xerox w/ samsung chips...
