cs 1.6 works fine as well I was expecting to have issues with steam but all the HL games play nicely. Cannot confirm for HL2 and mods.

Sure, sure I understand that they are working in the RC branch, but 7022 just had the rev number with nothing identifying in the label other than IE8 RC1. 7048 was the first build I was provided with RC1 in the label. It was also in the preliminary SVD i was provided. A lot of internal and FOUO stickers all over the bia, but its usually right in line with what the commercial world is receiving. And with the ridiculous number of changes being made, I would still stand by electing against any kind of 'upgrade' option between the RC(s) and RTM.
-
Since a predominant amount of the folks here asking about 7 downloaded the mass-beta and you offered no history on what you planned on upgrading from, i dont think it was an unfair assumption. my 7022 doesnt say rc1 but my 7048 does. So is everything after 7000 really rc1? we are more in the mood to have a logical discussion and form reasonable conclusions. and pray tell who is going to give 'informed' answers about a RTM that has yet to be released?
-
thought 7048 was tagged rc1? and you want to reinstall the whole thing. You prob have the 7000 download so there have been 48 patch builds between your copy and the rc, that screams for a clean install. No telling how many more iterations it will go through before RTM. I dont think you were supposed to fall in love with the beta , though you might be able to keep some of your config and UI files and copy them without issue.

i do 1.1 from cmdlines.cmd @ T -13 with its corresponding hotfixes and 'net stop msiserver' between every command because it cant hurt. then install 3.5 from runonce.cmd. I dont think you are going to reduce 3.5 much since its pretty much 2.0 SP3 and the family update might as well be SP4, thats a beast as well.

System keeps restarting (nLite)

probably the best Nlite freudian slip yet. -
yup, like you dont see .Net 1.0 because its integrated moreso than installed. i think you can still 'msiexec /x{guid}', at least for pieces. I use the runonce method because my users have to be able to uninstall from add/remove, and third party integrators dont always document all changes they make to the source, which your 'home' might not appreciate.
-
I have not played in a while (its been hard to tear myself from CS 1.6 wc3 mod for the past handful of years). I will run through the gW menus when I get home, and see if I can give you an idea of where to look in the guildwars video settings. I am surprised their support did not aim you there first. typing in dxdiag.exe into the run box should execute your directx configuration utility.
-
no, items that are manually slipped generally do not appear. I doubt you will have success slipping .NET and WMP11 without a third party integrator, which may behave differently. EDIT: runonce does not count as slipstreaming in my book
-
no problem. I have mine set at XP compatibility as well. You saw no difference between direct3d (regardless of directdraw setting) vs opengl/software mode? have you tested the card with dxdiag?
-
Forget Virtual PC, please. Change the settings in GuildWars not on the video card. And then play it on your host box.
-
if everything is slipped you could very well end up that way. check HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall for a list of programs you could still uninstall with msiexec /x{GUID}
-
nowhere do i recommend testing the hardware, just modifying in game settings. If you have video problems and are not going to tweak video settings or even sub out the vid card..... what are you planning on finding? Do so on your local machine as troubleshooting a driver/HardWare issue inside a virtual environment makes little to no logical sense, imho.

Do you have roaming profiles? Maybe a server side script that it is trying to run and fails when logging on locally.

attach your last session ini file. Definitely re-title to indicate Nlite being used, and you may want to ask a moderator to move this to the Nlite forum. -
fantastic idea, im about to start playing with makebmp from the ieak 6 package (its not in ieak 8). It says it is browser based, but im rooting for some undocumented functionality Boooo makebmp = only does 22 x22 and 38x38 (being for your browser icons and such), so you could have a really small animated billboard?

mine are in $oem$\install - not in the $1 I also have all my stuff 8.3 but thats more force of habit, so mine is called runonce.cmd but inside I still SET REGKEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx as well no references are needed in the .sif file, i use the following so it reboots and logs on [GuiUnattended] EncryptedAdminPassword=NO AutoLogon=Yes AutoLogonCount=1 OEMSkipRegional=1 OEMSkipWelcome=1

indeed because 1.1's installer is the culprit. I have 1.1 apps that drive my install otherwise flipping the order would be keen. Thanks for the feedback.
-
/? will give you all options ********.exe /integrate:%path to source% you want to aim the path at the folder that contains the i386, not the i386 itself.
-
the next available letter after the system C: is D: unless modified. So you mounted the CD drive into the VM as the D: when you just used passthrough from the host it worked because D: was free. in my best estimation.
-
Do you do 1.1 prior to 3.5? is there 10 minutes or a reboot between the installs? just trying to double check what I believed to be true about the issue. I got the idea for killing the installer service from stebners blog http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200.../26/474254.aspx
-
I suppose I should not add inflection to text, all apologies.
-
mmmmm sarcasm, you forgot to ask about %path% as well I also didnt read the last line where it said you just throw them in the Nlite run once tab, I dont set my runonceex through nlite. http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/31/ put this on top of the runonce file if you use my strings verbatim. @echo off cls SET REGKEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx and path is wherever those files end up, but you can type all the absolute paths if you are not fond of wildcards.

I think you are chasing the wrong animal. I believe it is a problem with your settings in that game, Virtual Environments are not a reliable place to test hardware anyway. What are the symptoms when you switch your current setting from either Opengl or Direct 3D to the other?
-
only if you partition the drive, otherwise Id go with a C folder instead of D
