  1. Click Start --> My Computer Right click --> Choose Properties Click the Advanced Tab Click the Settings button under Performance On the Advanced Tab, click Change under Virtual Memory Apply settings You may need to reboot.
  2. Are you using this setup in standalone mode or does your Outlook connect to a Microsoft Exchange server? If it is Exchange server, chances are your e-mails are being stored on the server along with your other information. In this case the backups of the server will have your info. If you are using Outlook in standalone mode, the info. gets stored in .PST files. If you checked the Properties of Outlook for Personal Folders it should give you the path to the .pst file. Then you can configure your backup software to include those files or folders.
  3. Also, change the line OEMPreinstall=Yes instead of No.
  4. Are you simply looking to disable the CTRL+ALT+DELETE or do you want to enable autologon? If you want to do an autologon, then the NT4 Resource Kit utility, cfgwiz.exe, will get you what you want. Otherwise, I don't believe the ability to only the CTRL+ALT+DELETE portion of the Winlogon process became available until Windows 2000.
  5. See my reply under your other post.
  6. Please post your WINNT.SIF, CMDLINES.TXT, and RUNONCEEX.CMD or any other relevant files or scripts.
  7. Take a look at Easyboot, not just for installing an OS. http://www.ezbsystems.com/easyboot/
  8. See this link: IEAK 6 SP1
  9. You could install the XP RDP client on a Win98 machine to control other XP or 2000 or 2003 servers. The RDP client will not allow inbound connections to a Win98 PC.
  10. @Gregg66 Could you send me a PM on how you did this? I tried using txtsetup.oem files unsuccessfully for weeks. Your insight and perhaps some examples would be greatly appreciated.
  11. You could try Winternal's Software Administrator's Pak. It includes a Data Recovery utility that may be able to help you.
  12. I don't believe there are any command line or free utilities to do what you want to do but if you can afford it, you can try Partition Magic 8 or Acronis Disk Director 9. As for resizing the partition to the full 40 Gb. see this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/224526/EN-US/
  13. Sounds like your DNS configuration is not correct. See this link DNS and this link Exchange
  14. You could try doing the install by executing the .msi file with a /qb- switch.
  15. You could also try this method. See the post @ http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=8381
  16. See this article: http://www.computing.net/office/wwwboard/forum/3954.html Sounds like you may have to upgrade your MSN account.
  17. @sanddunes If you can figure out how to get Acronis to image just a partition on a server instead of the whole drive, let me know, send me a PM. I couldn't find how to do it. I know Ghost can. thanks, tguy
  18. Try putting the WINNT.SIF on a floppy disk and inserting it after you start your installation from CD. That is the way MS suggests you do it. Otherwise you could just copy it to the i386 folder. I have had mixed results copying to the cd though. I know for sure it will work if you use the floppy method as I have done it numerous times. As for the difference between cdimage pro and home, I think they are the same as far as the cdimage program itself. The batch file may change something like the cd label or something in the command line syntax.
  19. Sorry for the misdirection, if there was any. As I stated, many of the settings the security.inf applies can be duplicated with registry modifications and applying security permissions using subinacl or cacls etc. Good luck.
  20. Host headers may be the only way to do what you are looking for. Consult the MS KB article(s) on how-to implement. It is pretty straight forward.
  21. You could try extracting the install files to a temp directory and then editing the .msi to turn off the OS version check. Or you could try Norton Ghost 9.0 which is essentially v2i and Ghost combined.
  22. Each connection you create is stored in a file under Application Data\Symantec.... etc. You could create all the connections you need under one install and then copy them to the PC's you wish to connect to in the profile directory for the user you log in as. Otherwise, check into the Symantec Packager utility.
  23. Sounds like a corrupt profile. Try logging in as another administrative user, deleting the profile where the icons will not load, and then logging in as that user. A new profile should be created. If this is happening after the OS loads for the first time, then it may be something is wrong with your installation setup.
  24. Try removing the /f at the end of the command line for the Macromedia installer. Looks like it could have been copied from a Runonceex.cmd file. Anyway, it works fine with just a /s
  25. You could always have your sysprep.inf kickoff secedit.exe from the GuiRunOnce section as it prepares each workstation. Most of the settings in that files are in the Registry and ACL's. You may be able to recreate a portion of the functionality using a combination of these two items. Having secedit run using the sysprep.inf may be simpler though.
