  1. Good point! It never occured to me that the type of users who frequent this board might buy the Intel "dual-core" hacked processor, but maybe they did.
  2. Here is the Athlon Dual Core slowdown fix: Windowsxp-kb896256-v3-x86-enu.exe Enjoy!
  3. Anybody got ahold of KB899811 for XP?? You may receive a "The memory could not be read" error message when you click certain Web site links in Internet Explorer 6
  4. Yep, you made the XP cd yourself and in winnt.sif you set oempreinstall=yes. That screws up the sata driver copy.
  5. Yeah, as a bonus -- the vacuum cleaner will sometimes generate a huge static charge. Then all your problems will be over.
  6. This was corrected in SP2 for XP according to the KB article.
  7. This message can be generated when the file names are not upper cased prior to building the CD as I pointed out in this thread some time ago. However, the thread guru did not respond leading me to believe that he does not understand this. Both nLite and XPcreate learned this along the way.
  8. Yes, it produces an XP cd that seems to install fine. I was still using the "old" version up through the August updates. Your program is still the only one from this board that produces a 100% solid CD (for perfectionists). I've tried the current versions of Nlite, HFslip, RyanVM, etc. They are nice for hobbyists but each produces unacceptable variations from what you get by manually installing the same things.
  9. The new one runs nicely, I'm testing now.
  10. Seems like you may have left some command files or labels out of your install like: the xpcprvar ??? Previously, these were labels, now they seem to go nowhere??? You will get some posts that it does not work, but they won't know why.
  11. TommyP: You'll want to use filecase.exe to uppercase all the filenames in at least i386, otherwise you will sometimes get "missing file" in the very first file copy stage. Also, your second file copy stage is very slow because of the way you repack the cabs. You have to use a very exact syntax to pack the cabs for a quick extraction. Copy the syntax from XPcreate. Great work overall!!
  12. You're screwed unless you want to risk a firmware flash -- it's a long shot!
  13. And I assume you mean it does not work, try putting in the DNS from your ISP or 4.0.0.1 if you don't know it. --- but it sure sounds like your wired ports are bad.
  14. Sounds like your router is going bad, you might be able to work around it by assigning a static IP to the wired computers. Be sure to put in the DNS and Gateway IPs pointing to the router.
  15. That would be fantastic!!!
  16. Post here if this Microsoft link works for you, then I'll remove mine!
  17. Yeah, maybe not from Microsoft, but try this: Link removed in favor of Microsoft one below By the way, it runs silently with no parameters needed!
  18. KB892130 is the download to activate the new Genuine Windows Advantage. I could not find it by searching the Microsoft site. Would be good to add if anyone can find it!
  19. Well, great news -- and we all know who distributes Microsoft files around here -- but will not be named.
  20. A relatively simple solution would be to add the netbeui protocol (this is optional on the CD). Netbeui passes right thru routers and will connect both segments as long as file sharing is bound to it. Edit: scratch that -- brain failure --- it's exactly the opposite
