  1. I disagree. When I have a maximized window the StickyNotes icon on the taskbar allows me to use "AeroPeek" without minimizing the window so I can see what the hell it is I wrote (lol).
  2. Have you checked out Windows Task Manager? I noticed my CPU temps go up one day and I checked task manager and sidebar.exe was bumping 0%-40% of my CPU. Also noticed that it was hogging 320K of memory. I restarted and it seemed resolved, but I've noticed it keeps reoccurring after leaving my comp. up for more than a day.
  3. I'm just having the slow context menu popup on Win7's desktop, but I do believe it is nvidia's 185.81 video drivers. Didn't do this on Windows Update(WU) WDM 1.1 drivers until I updated with nvidia's. I'm not gonna revert back tho' because WU's drivers are sluggish on gameplay. Other than that I've had no problem.
  4. I highly recommend Piriform's Defraggler. Simple, easy, free. And this thing performs the fastest HDD analysis ever. Piriform Homepage: http://www.piriform.com/ Drefraggler Homepage: http://www.defraggler.com/ You can use this guide to edit your XP registry and have Defraggler set as the default system defragmenter: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/1248/ I remove XP's default defragmenter using nlite and I install defraggler and set it as XP's default (so you can still click the link in Control Panel and Drive Properties) with no problems. First thing I do, in fact. Best decision ever
  5. I got mine to work!!! YAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I added more Dell Drivers from the site, switched my HDDs (physically), didn't automate installation Apparently it worked. I'm happy. Thanks for time and patience.
  6. Did they or one of them detect your SATA hdd?If your optical drive is connected to an nForce SATA Controller, which is set to "AHCI mode", you will get problems even when you are running Vista again. Recommendation (as already written): You should either a ) connect your CD/DVD device to an IDE Controller or another SATA Controller, which is running in "IDE mode", or b ) disable AHCI within the BIOS. Vista installed and runs fine. I'm on it now. I don't really see how the CD/DVD is making any problems. This is just wierd...Let me explain better: Ok, XP Setup PE Installation detected both drives on both of my attempts, but it said that my 80 GB was not a compatible XP partition (toyed around deleting the partition n'such). I thought ****, rebooted and tried again and it installed on my 80GB. Windows booted up for the first time, but 3 secs of the bootscreen and BOOM Blue screen error. So then I used a different driver on another burnt CD and installed again. This time it just wouldn't let me install on the 80GB given that it's not an "XP compatible partition" so I installed on the 500GB (which I wanted to use for Media, etc.) but the same scenario as the first ran thru. And you think it's my DVD drive? :-\
  7. I integrated two different drivers (that's two discs) and both gave me BSOD when XP tried to bootup. Apparently I'm just missing something and it's not very clear what it is. One of those drivers was the one you posted...
  8. When I tried disabling SATA via BIOS my DVD/CD thing was on SATA-1...and it did get disabled too. I tried enabling just for SATA-1, but the HDDs just weren't present on XP installation. I guess I'll just go for Vista because this is too difficult for XP. First it tells me it's not a compatible XP partition then when it does install it doesn't bootup without a BSOD...UGH! If any ya'll got any easy quick fixes here I'm all ears, but I don't even think I have IDE cables in this thing. I don't have RAID and I don't even know what AHCI is...
  9. I'm freaking out. The XPS arrived. I installed the new HDD no problem. Vista accepted it and all so then I tried my nlite XP Pro. Didn't take at first (said partition is not XP Compatible) until I rebooted and it worked the second time. When XP tried to load for the first time (the bootscreen is shown) I got a Blue Screen of Death. It just continuously runs at that cycle. Safe mode is ineffective. Help me. Oh, please help me. If it makes any difference I did switch the top HD with the new HD and connected it with the second plug instead of the first... BSOD: STOP: 0x0000007B (0xBACC354, etc.)
  10. Excellent. Will do. However, it just dawned on me. Dell posts drivers on their website: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...n&TabIndex= I selected my incoming 630 system and looked under SATA drivers and this is what I found: nVidia MediaShield - Release Date: 3/5/2008, Version: 9.99.0.4, A07, Download Type: Application http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...p;fileid=239623 and then a driver version of nVidia MediaShield: 9.99.0.8, A08 http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...p;fileid=243328 Hope those links work. Should I try to integrate those?
  11. Yea that was my next question...Can't find it either...I'll have to try the driverpack. Wish me luck. (Tho' the system hasn't arrived in the mail yet) Not sure what you mean 'override' from nlite
  12. I'll lose SATA's advantage then? :-( In order to keep it...I'll do the driverpack.net thing?
  13. Alright. I'm just trying to understand this...I just bought an XPS 630 with these harddrives: 1.) 500GB NCQ SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM) w/ 16MB DataBurst Cache 2.) Western Digital Caviar Blue WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive OEM It came with WinVista Home Premium, but I plan on switching to WinXP Pro. I won't need any additional drivers for the CD installation to recognize my HDDs, right? Sorry. Been Googling for quite awhile...Just want to be sure here tho'.

    Time Zone

    DST = Daylight Savings Time.
  15. Even with the recent DNS patch from Microsoft? I assume that patch has already replaced my tweak tcpsys...
  16. DJPro, Apparently my systray icon cache needed updating as I got a message for a new WinXP update and it used the newly modified wucltui.dll!!! Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Time Zone

It happens when you integrate the DST fix from M$ updates. I wish they would fix it...
  18. Yes, I've already patched this file and I just double checked it. Did you see my edit on the Scanner/Camera? I'm so happy 'bout that one. It's tough lookin' this stuff up.
  19. No dice. It looked promising tho' since they looked to be the same kind of icons, but I doubled checked the file... Thanks tho'. __________ Edit: Great news!!! I found the one for the Scanner/Camera: wiadefui.dll It also changed the icon for my scanner in My Computer, which was something I forgot to ask about.
  20. How do I change the encircled AVI for Microsoft's "Scanner and Camera Wizard"? I've already tried some of the obvious files like wiaacmgr.exe, but it doesn't work. And yes I know about Windows File Protection... The Second one is the Win. Automatic Updates notifier in the systray. Can't seem to locate the resource for this either. This is all on WinXP Home SP3. Thx.

    WMP Hotfix

Havn't a clue. I just use OnePiece's IE7 addon, but I had to reinstall it from M$ downloads for IEPro plugin to work. That didn't give me any problems tho'.

    WMP Hotfix

I thought that SP3 had ALL of the hotfixes for IE7 and WMP11? That's completely wrong. It doesn't even include IE7 and WMP11.
  23. Lqdwax, Hello! I'm kinda new at this nlite integrating stuff so take this as you want. I've finally created my own XPCD with SP3, IE7, WMP11, drivers and few minor addons after multiple tests on a virtual machine. The only tricky part of it is the hotfix integration and the component removal (don't remove something you will need). The way I went about it is: 1.) Install latest nlite along with Boogey's WMP Integrator 2.) Only use nlite! - It will automatically use Boogey's Integrator for WMP11 3.) Integrate SP3 first, of course, then on to the hotfixes 4.) I added the WMP11 installer first then its updates/hotfixes from Boogey's site (don't forget the Media File Exploit from M$ downloads!) along with the Calendar update for 2007/2008 for DST. 5.) Organize the hotfixes by date!!! Probably will have to do it manually as I did. 6.) Then you can add your own addons. For IE7 I use OnePiece's Internet Explorer 7 True Addon* 7.) All should be well then! Works on my machine flawlessly with no errors at install (or anywhere so far). Hope this helps somehow. *Using this addon has given me the latest IE7 version. Unfortunately, the IE7Pro addon was not able to use its customized context menu but I was able to resolve this by reinstalling IE7 thru M$ downloads. Sounds crazy, but it worked and my IE7 version # (according to iexplore.exe, NOT from the "About Internet Explorer" option in IE) is the same + there was one recently released cumulative update for IE7 installed. Everything went smooth and didn't even add an entry in the Add/Remove Progs list (as it is integrated, I guess)
  24. Danke, danker. Will try, but WindowBlinds just seems to be too **** stubborn as I can't get it to skin anything now.
  25. I'm having a wee bit of a problem with WindowBlinds skins...They're not skinning the the shellstyle (left tasks pane). Tomorrow I'm gonna try to fix it by reinstalling, but I think it maybe the UXTheme dll...or maybe the fact that I removed the Luna theme and color schemes. Could someone post the unaltered 5512 uxtheme_dll?
