  1. Dysharm, we need more information. As Sp0iLedBrAt says, post that error message and, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  2. CSF, it sounds like you have either run nLite more than once against the same source or used another program against your nLite modified source. Either process is going to lead to problems most likely. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  3. GBscientist, as far as I know nLite does not create a log or debug file. I should also point out, if you are not aware, nuhi (nLite owner/author) has not been seen here for some time. So, if you have found a bug, then it will probably not get any attention. Enjoy, John.
  4. GBscientist, well I learned something. I have no idea what Test Write does in nLite. Sounds like it should do what GrofLuigi says it should do, but I don't understand why it would be needed. Please tell me why you want to do test write without actually burning media. Thanks, John.
  5. studentbong, please read the nLite license agreement. NLite is for personal use only and cannot be used in a work or commercial environment. Enjoy, John.
  6. GBscientist, 'test burn'????? Where is that? Please show us a screen shot. Enjoy, John.
  7. okto, I don't have a definitive answer for you, only some things to consider. I see you have not specified a screen resolution in the Unattended section. Have you tried setting your screen resolution after you install to the maximum and seeing what the Start Menu looks like? Some suggestions, but I don't think they are part of your Start Menu problem. Set Computer Type to Automatic and remove the Tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process". The tweak exposes a Windows bug but causes no real harm. My only other suggestion at this time is to try removing some of the Tweaks (perhaps Visual Effects first - but not the one(s) you want) and see if one is interfering with your needed ones. Some of these may be somewhat exclusive. If you mouse over the items some or most have help text that appears at the bottom. Please see my attached image. Perhaps this explains it all and negates my first statement. Enjoy, John.
  8. okto, my suspicion is that you have run nLite more than once against the same source. Are you using a virtual system (VirtualPC, VirtualBox and VMware Server are all free) to test your ISOs? If not, please consider doing so - very helpful in this type of situation for testing several variations. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  9. 212121 and DD4ever, perhaps someone will be able to make a suggestion but I cannot without more information. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  10. Schicklgruber, enjoy, John.
  11. Here is a Google translation of the last post from the Portuguese:
  12. boydaigai, in the Unattended section, Desktop themes tab, there is an Options section on the right side with a Default theme:. Set this to your desired default. In the General section is the Unattended Mode, set this to Fully automated. What AddOn did you use to change the boot screen? Please give us a link to it. Also, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

    Little help

catsado, the big problem is that you are running nLite under Vista/W7 to create an ISO for XP. This is not going to work if you include a Service Pack. Probably the easiest way to include WMP11 is to install WMP11 Slipstreamer (search these forums) in your host, then place the WMP11 installer (from MS DL Site) and updates into the hot fix section. One method of running nLite under XP - since you have VPC installed - is to install XP on your VM and run nLite there. Enjoy, John.
  14. Schicklgruber, I have never used a recovery CD but have seen others here using them - some with success and some not. Again, I encourage you to search these forums for threads discussing using recover CDs, particularly Dell's. Your experience indicates that leaving out the $OEM$ folder will not work. Just a guess, but try going into the Unattended section and Disable OEM Preinstall and see what happens - JUST a wild guess, but since you are using VPC should be a cheap experiment. Enjoy, John.

    Little help

catsado, I assume you are using nLite 1.4.9.1. If so, this is exactly the version you should be using. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  16. Schicklgruber, there is a load of stuff in your $OEM$ file! You will be leaving it all out if you drop the folder. I do not know how this will effect your install. Have you been able to find any good posts on using a Dell recovery CD? BTW, to reduce the size of a screen shot file, I paste it into MS Paint and save it as a .jpg file. It is usually quite a bit smaller. Enjoy, John.
  17. Schicklgruber, OK, thanks. Please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of the $OEM$ folder. Thanks, John.
  18. Schicklgruber, interesting - progress - GREAT! I guess the $OEM$ folder contains stuff that interferes with nLite. NLite does use the $OEM$ folder. Please look in the folder and if there is noting private there and it is not too large, compress and attach it so we can have a look. I suggest that you try using the folder containing your CD contents minus the $OEM$ folder and run nLite with SP3 and your other changes, create an ISO and try installing it on VPC. You really do not need to burn a CD. Please let us hear. Enjoy, John.
  19. kantagara, I suspect the reason you have not received any responses is two fold. One, your title violates the Forum rules (see link at the top) - basically it is meaningless, and two, most of the answers to your questions are in the Guides available on the nLite web site. In the Unattended section of nLite, the Desktop theme tab will allow you to include whatever theme(s) you want. Do remember if you are using an unsigned theme, please enable the UXtheme patch in the Patches tab of the Options section. You can add drivers - see guides - using packs or just the drivers you need. You use the appropriate switches for the particular application. Search for a program called Universal Silent Switch Finder (USSF) for some help. Please see the AddOn sub-forum here and see the RyanVM forum. Your needed application may already have an AddOn available. Enjoy, John.
  20. Schicklgruber, I don't have any ideas for your optical drive problem, but I suspect you have a source problem. You have a recovery CD and some have reported success with them and others not. Please try this. Assuming you can get a fresh copy of the CD files/folders, then create an ISO only. I use ImgBurn for this, but you can use nLite. Just point nLite to the folder and then select only the Create Bootable ISO. It does not matter what Last Session you use. This will cut an ISO with no modification by nLite. I must emphasize that the folder must contain a fresh copy of the CD files/folders. When finished, run the ISO in your VPC and let us know the outcome. You can search these forums for other's experience with recovery CDs. Good luck, John.
  21. xman, I do not use driver packs and do not know why they are leaving folders/files about. I would suggest you contact the forum/site where you found the pack and ask them. NLite will not delete this folder directly as far as I know. You could use the RunOnce feature of the Unattended section to run DOS commands to delete the folders/files. This will be done after T-13. I suspect there is no more use of the folder at this time but, of course, can't be sure. NLite has an Option to delete its driver folder (NLDRV in Windows folder). Enjoy, John.
  22. Schicklgruber, do you not have the original CD? If not, where did you get your Widows copy? Enjoy, John.
  23. Schicklgruber, specifically: Have you tried installing on VPC directly from your original CD? You should be able to attach your CD drive to the VM and boot from the Windows CD. I think we are down to its being the CD or your installation of VPC. We need to make sure you can install directly from your CD. Please let us hear and also attach your Last Session when you have used nLite. Enjoy, John.
  24. Diamond 64, please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of the CD and we will take a look. Enjoy, John
  25. bujashaka, first, welcome to the forum and second, please read the forum rules (link at top). Your title is meaningless. Please edit your first post and change the title to reflect the problem you are having. Now, what do you mean extracted? You should copy all files/folders from your CD into a new (empty) folder and then point nLite to that folder. NLite will do the copy for you and you should not copy the files/folders into the root directory (C:\ usually). For future problems, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
