  1. Here is the link to Adobe Labs to DL Flash Player 10 (both plugin and ActiveX). Note that it is a Release Candidate and requires the removal of older versions of Flash if you are going to install it on a machine with Flash already installed. http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html Thanks much, Kurt for the latest updates!!!!! Enjoy, John.
  2. icnocop, I think my cure for this was to use the 64 bit version of mshta.exe. Here is my RUNWPI.INF for that purpose (in $OEM$.) Are you running on a real machine or virtual machine? You could test by setting hta files to run from the 64 bit version of mshta.exe (in system32 not SysWOW64) using Folder Options then executing WPI.hta and doing just a %reboot%. The default is the 32 bit version. Enjoy, John. [Version] Signature="$CHICAGO$" [DefaultInstall] AddReg=Run.AddReg [Run.AddReg] HKLM,"%RUN%","%WPI%",,"RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection ""%01%\%INF%"",Execute" [Execute] RunPreSetupCommands=Launch.WPI:1 DelReg =Run.DelReg [Launch.WPI] CMD /Q /C CD /D """%01%\..\WPI""" & START /WAIT /B mshta.exe d:\WPI\WPI.hta [Run.DelReg] HKLM,"%RUN%","%WPI%" [Strings] RUN="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RUN" WPI="Windows Post Install" INF="RunWPI.inf"
  3. bszom, Attached is the option to see the 'Options' and 'Config' options when installing. I see the same thing you see during install. What version are you using? I have the latest, 7.0. Enjoy, John
  4. toja92, What do you mean: ??? I did a Google search on 'stop 7e' and got tons of hits including one from MS that talked about during install setup. DO a Google search on 'stop 7e'! Good luck, John
  5. Thanks to all for your time and replies. I think I will just stick with 7-Zip. Enjoy, John.
  6. Thanks much, all. You have confirmed my conclusion that there was no really free version. I will now consider my options. Nuno Brito, I failed to mention that I am running XP Pro x64 Edition. It looks like TugZip does not support this OS. Thanks, again. John.
  7. I notice the use of WinRAR a lot around here and was wondering about the availability of a free version. At the RAR site I find only one free one listed and that is for the Pocket PC (not interesting to me). If I do a Google search, I find many sites offering a free version (strangely one was 10 KB - trash or worse). I, of course, DLed none of these. I suspect the free DLs are just that - DL is free but the version is 'trial' that quits working in 30(?) days. I currently use, and am happy with, 7-Zip, but when I saw Kels explanation of how to use WinRAR to make a self extracting installer, I was taken with its feature. I am one cheap guy and would rather not pay for the SW I use when there are good free ones (eg, 7-Zip). I do build self extracting installers with 7-Zip but it sounds like it is much much more complex than WinRAR. Thanks, John.
  8. TranceEnergy, Have you removed all IEs or just not installed IE7? Without IE at all you may not have access to Windows Update and OE is part of IE. When I used to use Firefox, I watched the forum and some posted about trying to remove IE and got into all kinds of trouble. The general recommendation was "DON'T REMOVE IE!" BTW, I looked into your post about the updates including one for the kernel. The ones I looked at all said not to use them unless you had the symptom(s) they targeted. Why would one want to include any of these updates? Thanks, enjoy, John.
  9. I tried using the nLite Option CDPromptRemove, but I am still prompted to 'hit any key...' I am running nLite on XP x64 and testing under VMware Server. Powering up or restarting my guest prompts to boot from CD every time. Any ideas? Thanks, John.
  10. RJARRRPCGP, Here is the information on SP2 from Kurt_Aust's post about integrating XP x64 stuff. Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Professional x64 edition [367,964,016] MD5: 46D05CE174437A224C8A77047D010AE9 SHA1: 7F8E909C52D23AC8B5DBFD73F1F12D3EE0FE794C You might want to take a look at his thread. Enjoy, John.
  11. bszom, I only do one Restart at the end of my WPI install, so I am in a different environment than you, but when I go to my optical drive and open WPI, I can still see the Taskbar. Attached is my Options-Window page, perhaps you can see something: Enjoy, John
  12. bszom, Perhaps I am still not answering the right questions, but I have no problem with seeing the Taskbar on my install end. When I do the configuration, I set the Options up to expose my Taskbar using the Border Type and Border Style. Then when I do the unattended install, when WPI starts, the Taskbar is visible. I think you can test this by starting WPI from the CD/DVD. I am nLiteing on and for Win XP Pro x64 Edition which is based on Server 2003 x64 and using VMware Server for testing. I'm not familiar with explorer switches , but are you supposed to have commas in them? Enjoy, John
  13. Kurt, Are you considering direct integration of WMP11 on the next update? I have tried it and it seems to work fine. I just placed the WMP11 file followed by the four updates ahead of the other hot fixes. nLite (1.4.8) calls WMP11 Slipstreamer (copy on my machine) and processes the WMP11 file but not the hot fixes. Do you think we need to include the latest MSI for integration? Thanks, John.
  14. dclay, I don't see anything out of order. There is a 'Directories' item at the end of the Components options. Here are listed files nLite thinks might be safely deleted and if they are checked, they will be deleted. Look at this list and make sure none are checked. Are you burning a DVD? What kind? Does your burner recognize it as a DVD, not CD? Have you tried just creating an ISO file and if so what size was it? Have you tried to burn a DVD using nLite? I have burned a DVD+RW many times with ISOs too large for a CD using nLite. I found that Nero (version 6) would not burn a DVD if the image would fit on a CD. What size does nLite say your image is after processing? Good luck, John.
  15. dclay, I have made ISOs with nLite way over 800 MB with no problems. Simply copy all the extra files into your source folder along with the Windows files/folders before you start nLite and go to it. The current one I cut yesterday is 743 MB. If you have any more problems, then post a screen shot of your source folder Explorer window. Good luck, John.
  16. JermRiddled, What is your version of nLite? Are your CDs OEM, Retail or recovery CDs? You might post a screen shot of you CD content and/or your HDD folder content (Explorer window). John
  17. mara-, I did some research and found that the errors logged in the System Log are 4226 IDs. I looked in my system log and found several of these. I think they started about the time I set my count up to 10 via TCPOptimizer. I suspect the nLite patch is to increase the limit to permit more connections before Windows starts complaining. Interestingly, my 4226 IDs stopped at the end of April this year. John
  18. mara-, You are right, but I learned something. I assume (now) half open connections are not the same as MaxConnectionsPerServer in TCPOtimizer. This is for Internet Explorer and helps surfing. So I was really off base. There was an earlier post about this patch and nuhi responded that it did work. Thanks, John.
  19. Perhaps in Czech, it says 'half open connections' but not in English. Try running nLite in English (since you do well in English here) and see what I don't understand. I think the patch is working, I just suspect that 50 is too large. I got warnings on 10. I suggest you do some research on how many connections are supported and even perhaps limits that your ISP my impose. John
  20. I have no experience with a recovery disk. I have seen other posts concerning using these disks. I suggest you search these forums for some information. My CD has 9 files/folders but I am running XP Pro x64 Edition and have an AMD64 folder. Good luck in your searching, John.
  21. I think you need to change your forum login name. I don't really understand what option, tweak or patch you are using. Is it the "Maximum unfinished simultaneous connections[TCP/IP patch]"? I use a free program called TCPOptimizer to set this parameter and set my Receive Window size. I have the connection count set to 10 and have seen warning messages in my System Log concerning excessive connections but never Systray warnings. Please post a screen shot of one of your messages. John
  22. I don't understand what you are doing for sure, but it sounds like you are not copying all the files from your install CD to a folder on your hard drive. Explore your install CD, select ALL Files and copy your entire CD into a folder on your HDD and point nLite to this folder. Good luck, John.
  23. chocbrandy97, I am glad you are running. In your earlier post, you said: I said to look in the LAST SESSION_U.INI...notice the _U. Great! John
  24. chocbrandy97, You give so little information, I suspect it would be nearly impossible for anyone to conclude what might have gone wrong. Look around at other posts and see what type of information people are submitting for consideration. I have made many ISOs using the Unattended section, including specifying the key, with no problems. I would suggest you check your key and make sure it is the correct one and input correctly. I've seen some discussions here about some retail computers having two keys (search these forums). Perhaps one on the disk and one on the computer. Look in your LAST SESSION_U.INI file and see if your key is there and correct(CDKey = "xxx..."). Please do not post this file or your key. Please do some searching and good luck John
  25. minutka15, I don't know what you mean by "(no windows)", but I assume you mean you are not installing Windows but Windows is running - right? I don't know how to make Autorun work, but I have run WPI from my DVD. I just right click the optical drive>Explore>double click WPI>double click WPI.hta. I also make a Desktop shortcut to WPI.hta if I am going to do several tests. It seems that you cannot use Configure when running from a CD/DVD, only Install. Maybe you need more path information on your Autorun command - just a guess. WPI.hta is inside WPI folder unless you moved it. Good luck, John.
