  2. Welcome to this great forum! Just to let you know there are Chrome addon around, you can give it a try although I have not tried it. Maybe there are specific switch supported by this msi, but I don't know. Alternatively you might have to repack & use batch script to delete shortcuts Cheers edit: Or maybe Google Chrome Portable?
  3. VC Redist should be part of windows OS since many program need them. Why people does not expect VC Redist as part of OS components? Many developers includes their VC Redist in their program installers. Even if you have VC Redist installed, those installers generally still install their bundled VC Redist. Over a period of time, OS ended up a lot bloated VC. VC Redist should be part of MS Update/AU. Not leave it to developers to distribute with their software. Why they choose to leave it to developers to distribute VC is beyond my understanding. Happy 2013 New Years, everyone!
  4. Maybe the Free version is "for home and non-commercial use" and the software is 'smart' enough to detect server version is not home use? So it won't work. Just my guess. Nevertheless, JFI, Teamviewer has free mobile apps for IOS/Android phone user to enable them to have a remote session even while on the move. I have the free app installed on my iphone 3GS. Overall, it's a user-friendly and simple way to 'remote desktop session' approach. Simple for me and the other party to get connected. Just install Teamviwer and only need to input ip address, both are connected.
  5. If you choose custom setup, then untick all craps components, there will be no crap or whatsoever installed. I tested burning my slipstream XP iso. Burn w/o error. Tested during early xp setup (textmode copy) and give me error message. Had to abort the "so-called" setup. Re-burn same DVD-RW disc with Passcape ISO Burner and BurnawareHome (a recent Giveaway) and both works flawlessly. So Burning Studio 2013 is not a keeper for me. I remembered earlier free version 6.80 I tested also had some problem. Never rip CD-aduio to mp3 properly even though no error message during ripping. In fact, WMP default ripping to mp3 feature is better than the Free v6.80 (User should test whether it works well with your DVD burner or not) Nevetheless, if someone still need a silent install method w/o craps, I can still post it (inf-based method). Cheers
  6. I'm trying to make switchless using winrar+inf for x86 (Xp/Win7) If anyone wants it, I will create a separate topics. (Should be more user customizable at their end since it is inf-based.) Uploaded copy is likely below 1MB so that user can add rest of files themselves. (a Trial copy w/o key)
  7. For those interested, just to inform there is a Giveaway for Ashampoo Burning Studio 2013 (coming approx at 10 hr later, lasting 48hr)
  8. Updated to v5.0.0.19 and Merry Christmas + Happy New Year to everyone.
  9. @CodeMe A simpler alternative workaround is just to provide instruction to your user to manual check the hosts (file) setting. Ask user to copy and paste the below code in Start-->Run box and press enter to open hosts (file) in notepad. notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Ask user to manual disable the 3 sites (if exists) by inserting # at the begining of the line. (since # is use for comment)
  10. I modify from maxXPsoft's registry tweak in #5 and able to achieve Zero item in Start Menu. I use Win Toolkit to slipstream below key as .WA addon. This is what I have when I first get to the desktop. (on win7x86) As my Autounattend.xml contains some existing link, just to let you know it has no affect and is unable to add new item even if you have entries to <StartPanelLinks>. Also my Autounattend.xml creates 2 users. I check the second user start menu. No item is pinned too. Currently. I'm exploring how to pin my own program to the start menu. If I find something, I let you know. Hope this is useful, Cheers Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "Start_MinMFU"=dword:00000000 "Start_JumpListItems"=dword:00000000
  11. Actually HFGUIRunOnce can also take .cmd .reg & .inf files
  12. Thanks. Your version is stable: v3.2 build 27886 (rls on 5 Sept 2012) I updated to v3.2.1 beta build 28025 (rls on 26 Sept 2012) (Main download page)
  13. My thought over here. (Read Ethervane ActiveHotkeys help file to get some insight) In short, the author said can't retrieve programmatically what program is using certain hotkey if already taken up. Cheers
  14. FixHELL, get real. Post some actual registry code you have. Beating around the bush is pointless.
  15. Alternatively, you can look into cmdlines.txt. This is a more documented approach. Also you can google more solution if you run into problems. Editing hivedef.inf requires user to put in inf syntax which not many user knows. cmdlines.txt msdn Scroll to Cmdlines.txt section. Read the last sentence. Basically you need to put in winnt.sif [Unattended] OemPreinstall=Yes I did it this way: A 'cmdlines.txt' in SOURCEXP\$OEM$ folder <- create manually this folder A ForLoopT12.cmd in SOURCEXP\$OEM$ folder <- create manually this file Many reg files in SOURCEXP\$OEM$ folder <- export all your reg tweaks to this location In 'cmdlines.txt, content as [Commands] "ForLoopT12.cmd" Content of ForLoopT12.cmd for %%e in ("*.reg") do regedit.exe /S "%%e"
  16. Well, I don't know but can consider alternative like MediaMonkey to help manage your music collection.
  17. @submix8c I guess so. I download k-Lite silent maker quiet sometime back so there is no need to signup at that time. Recently I download Avira sfx maker and it requires me to sign up. So I sign up just to download. If you do not wish to signup just to download, there is a DIY guide here. The 6th screenshot is where you select the player to associate with the audio/video files. Best regards
  18. to change .mp4 to wmp after k-lite codec pack is installed, you can apply this inf unattendedly ;mp4withWMP.inf [Version] Signature=$Windows NT$ [DefaultInstall] AddReg =REGEntries.AddReg [REGEntries.AddReg] ;HKCR,mplayerc.mp4\shell\Open\command,,0x0,%16422%\K-Lite Codec Pack\Media Player Classic\mpc-hc.exe %%1 HKCR,mplayerc.mp4\shell\Open\command,,0x0,"""%16422%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"" /prefetch:6 /Open ""%%L""" [Remark] change file association for .mp4 to wmp11 after K-lite codec pack is installed But I suggest you try k-lite silent maker which allow you to set which player as default during creation of unattended sfx For the toolbar, use regshot shot to check what changes is made and then import it after k-lite codec is installed

  20. tnx, glad you see it through and made it! And thanks to you and tomasz86 for sharing the solution. I think now only at msfn forum can a user find a solution even if they google hard. I seems to have the impression that hfslip's driver integration method is similar to tomasz86's method.
  21. Your [sourceDisksNames] does not conform to it's syntax. Try something like this [SourceDisksNames] 1="NuDrvs LAN Files from current dir of this .inf sub dir",,,NuDrvs\LAN and put your source file in C:\windows\inf\NuDrvs\LAN instead of C:\windows\NuDrvs\LAN I think it will not prompt to browse for file. Unfortunately I couldn't get the inf to pick up file from C:\windows\NuDrvs\LAN. It has to be from the '"installation root", which is where the inf resides. Unless your driver.inf is located in C:\windows dir...
  22. Just a thought... You might need to change the path of [sourceDisksNames] within the .inf so that it knows where to find the files... Just take a look what is the current string. Here is one site for a general description of SourceDisksNames. To be frank, I don't really know much how to go about it but it is good you are trying to see what works. Keep us posted. An idea comes to my mind. How about use 3rd party program to save, then restore later. I come to know of this program from Seven forum because someone mention it there. DriverBackup! 2.1 It requires .Net 2 framework to run Support commandline restore operation. (maybe this is what you want) Personally, I have not tested it so can't say if it works as stated.
